“The sad thing is that we aren’t old...and you do have time to work on things. All of...the bad from the past...it’s over, Ilya. Likewise, if you ever need someone to talk to...even if it isn’t me, I’ll know good people if you ever need to just...get things off of your chest. Also, everyone makes mistakes, so it’s not just a you problem.”
Sterling took his cup and drained it in a few large gulps. “...This was nice. I hope that you’ll invite me back here to do it again? I should get home and see about making something for Priam’s dinner, Yu is supposed to be working late tonight.” He gave a sigh that ended in a pout and stretched, picking up his plate and glass. “Do you want me to wash these for you? Or, just put them in the dishwasher...if you have one. I’m not sure…”
How he dealt with such things.
“...But I do hope that you enjoy the rest of the cake.”

Ilya just laughed, a soft, gentle thing; Sterling's concern for the dishes was more than enough to draw him out of whatever thoughts he'd been having. "Oh, please," he shook his head. "I don't mind doing the dishes. You've got a lot on our plate already. But thank you for the offer. This won't kill me. Besides," he smiled at Sterling as he stood. "I don't mind cleaning. Come on, you can set them in the sink on your way out and I'll get them."
He breathed a little sigh and felt like the stresses of the day had washed away. This was like a breath of fresh air, good for him. Medicine that didn't hurt to take.
"Thank you for this, Sterling. I'll make sure none of your cake goes to waste. I hope we can do this again soon."
