Nok found his eyes following the book as it was put away, tempted to ask to see it again. Those pages, while traitorous in their nature of attempting to glorify the other lands, were still rather interesting to one who had never looked at art for the sake of art itself before. Perhaps it was best to not look too closely, though.

His head pulled back and he shook it firmly. "My da and ma, my sisters.. we only got ourselves. Safer to stay with what we know." As if his subconscious was making a point, his tongue flicked out to brush along the scarring on his lips. Yeah, totally safe... He dropped his head quickly to focus back on the cloak and mask the uncertainty, busying himself with pulling the cloth out of the bucket and stretch it out along the ground to start drying.

The silence that had fallen over them was almost strange now, which was extra strange for the young man who liked the quiet and being alone. Caolan was proving to be a noisy but pleasant acquaintance. The excited tone snapped Nok from his brooding, reminding him that he wasn't alone at the moment, and that.. he had actually been accepting of the time with the stranger.

He remained squatting next to the cloak, gaze finally rising again to look at his companion. What was it that Caolan had said earlier? Nice? "Your visit is nice.. Caolan." Was that right? Sounded good enough to him. There were certainly a limited number of people to hear him say such a thing. It was just a shame that the other would probably be running off to his death on the other lands.
