Lovely shook his head after responding to the kiss and inhaled wetly through the nasal congestion.
“You’ve been through worse,” he argued. “After that creature took us, we just sat in a dark cellar for days. There was food and water. No one harmed us. It’s not like we were actively being tortured, just… kept there. For who knows what.”
That didn’t mean he hadn’t been miserable and afraid. It wasn’t as if he knew what was going to happen to him down there. The creature could have come back and harmed them all. It could have killed them. That it ultimately hadn’t didn’t diminish the possibility. There was always the thought lurking in the back of his mind, the knowledge that he might not get out, that even if the creature didn’t hurt him again, he could die from his wounds, or from starvation and dehydration if their sources of food and water ran out.
But, to Lovely, it could not compare to what Ilian had gone through at the hands of the Senshi and Knights, several years ago when he was held captive. Lovely had always gotten off easy compared to Ilian, who lost his parents young, who went through foster care, and who saw his brother murdered right in front of him.
Lovely sniffled one last time and used his good arm to slowly rise off the bed, propping himself back up against a pillow.
“Sorry, we don’t have to talk about any of that,” he said. “I’m fine, but… yeah, if you want to heat up the tea again. I don’t know what the ******** is wrong with me. Probably just tired.”

Ilian gave a little shrug of his shoulder and shook his head. Lovely talking about things was rare, which meant that if he wanted to talk about them, then he should, but if he didn't then Ilian wasn't going to force him into it. He would instead just wonder what Lovely was really thinking or how he really felt all the time.
"I don't mind if you want to talk," he said as he carefully sat up in order to crawl back over to the edge of the bed so he could get Lovely's cup. "I don't mind if you just want to make out. Or if you want to yell at me. If that will make you feel better, then I don't care what you want to do."
He didn't blame Lovely for not wanting to talk about things. He had plenty of things he didn't talk about. Ilian was sure Lovely figured some things out on his own about him, but it wasn't as though Ilian went around telling people his brother had been killed, or that his parents died, or that he lived through some horrible things before he'd even become a Negaverse officer. It wasn't anyone else's business, and he doubted anyone would really care.
At least except for Lovely and Jericho. But even then, he hadn't exactly gone into detail with either of them what happened to him when he was tortured. They'd just seen the aftermath when Aquamarine finally managed to rescue him.
He doubted Lovely would really want to hear about things that happened years ago when they were better off focusing on their new house they were having built.
"It'll be nice not to have to crawl over things to get to the door," he pointed out, glad their new home was designed to suit them much better than this tiny one bedroom apartment.
"But you probably are tired. You should try to sleep after your tea."

“Not much to talk about,” Lovely tried for nonchalance. He’d shrug his shoulders right back, but he thought that might hurt and he ached enough already from the crying. “I don’t know what to say.”
Normally, he would be content to make out until they got too tired and fell asleep. It was what they did: Fight a Senshi or Knight, or several at once, or any manner of monstrous creature, then come home to nurse whatever injuries they might have, and make out while the adrenaline was still raging. Eventually it would wear off and they’d pass out, only to repeat the same process the next time, and the next time, and the next time. Lovely liked that what they had was generally predictable. It meant there weren’t any surprises.
Now, his broken ribs seemed to indicate that they should maybe take it easy on their after-battle make out session, at least this time.
That didn’t mean he wasn’t tempted. They definitely wouldn’t have to talk then.
“A lot of things’ll be nice,” he said. “A bigger kitchen to make cooking less of a hassle. A bigger living room so the piano doesn’t take up so much space. A bigger shower to make washing all the blood off easier.”
While true, that last one might not be the best reason to look forward to something.
“Nevermind,” Lovely said, leaning his head against the headboard and tipping it back to look at the ceiling, only he closed his eyes and couldn’t see anything. “Heat up my tea and I’ll let you know if I want to sleep after I’m done.”

Ilian finished climbing out of the bed, listening as Lovely switched from brushing off talking all together to maybe just not knowing what to talk about. Maybe not this time, but one day Lovely will know what he wanted to talk about. Or maybe he still wouldn't know, but would be more comfortable talking about whatever came to mind.
At least they were both looking forward to their new house. While it seemed horrible to think about how the bigger shower would make washing all the blood off easier, it was nice to think about them being together while doing such tasks. They may end up injured, like now, but they would still be alive, like now.
Walking over to the table, Ilian picked up the mug with Lovely's tea. But before he turned to head out to the kitchen, he leaned over to press one more kiss against Lovely's lips, as he had his head tipped back and eyes closed.
