Cybele nodded, stirring at the apples some more. "My best guess is that it's the monster that comes out at night that is keeping us here," she said. Her introduction to this world had been through the hallucinations that its fog brought, and she had heard it prowling and scratching at the houses each night since. "If we cannnot find another way out of here soon, I'm going to kill it."

She said that as matter-of-factly as when she had been talking about the cooking, and without missing a beat she speared one of the apples on her knife. She touched it. It seemed to be heated through.

"I think these are ready," she said, and took a small bite.

Cybele continued to eat. She didn't hesitate. Whatever happened was going to happen, and most of the food so far had been edible, if a little strange. Still, she didn't seem as ravenous as Vela.

At first, it all seemed fine. The apples were a little singed in places and undercooked in others, but they were sweet, and most importantly, they were food. As she continued to eat, though, she felt her eyelids getting heavier and heavier. The rest of her body felt heavy, too, the way that she'd felt back when she'd first awoken after being drained to the point of unconsciousness.

It wasn't quite as severe now, but it was still a bit difficult to keep her eyes open.

"That worked out fairly well for neither of us knowing how to cook over a fire," she said, what was meant to be a half-teasing tone coming out sleepier than expected. "I think I'm going to go take a rest now, though."

Cybele nodded, doing her best to keep her eyes open. It was mostly working, although it was a difficult battle.

"Thank you," was all she managed, and then she stumbled inside, very much looking forwards to curling up in a bed.
