Ika 4Ika was happy enough to relax and cool off her toes, but it seemed like privacy wasn't common courtesy in Oba. Still, it wasn't like the kid was being pushy about it, just nosey. So, she stretched her legs out into the water and nodded.
"Yeah, my other mama's an Alkidike. So is my big sister, Subira." Really looking at the other girl, Ika figured if she was going to be blunt about it then she might as well be too. "You've got an earthling parent too?"

Tyiva 5
Tyiva couldn't help but to let out a soft chuckle. "Oh spirits. I have three all the same age right now so I cannot wait to see how they are whenever they become teenagers." She shivered slightly just thinking about how to deal with three moody teens all at once. Hopefully her children would give her some sort of mercy or at least one of them would simply skip that stage completely if possible. "If you'd like." Her lips curved upwards in a smile at the offer. "Mostly it's just washing some desert dust from the fruits while I get the rest of the meal out. We're not that extravagant so it's mostly dried meat with some bread and cheese but it's better than nothing while crossing the desert."
"A pleasure to meet you, Ujana. Xylia is the youngest of my three while the other two, Kaiva and Svadra, stayed behind in Oba with my wife." Tyiva shook her head in amusement. "I was planning on taking this trip alone but she's been very attached to me lately and begged to tag along."

Xylia 5
"I knew it." Xylia replied with a happy grin. "You seemed to have markings like mine....well though mine are strange apparently." She glanced down at her arm and the black markings that swirled along her skin. "My sister's are more teal like mama's own markings." Her gaze widened at the thought of an older Alkidike sister, the thought of having a full Alkidike sister a foreign concept to the little hybrid with two other hybrid siblings. Was it possible for one of them to have been bloomed a full Alkidike? The thought puzzled Xylia before the other girl's next question caught her attention.
"Yep! Mama Karo is from Oba." Xylia beamed as she thought of her other mother. "Both of my siblings look a lot more like her than I do though." She had her Alkidike's mother's pale skin and green fade while her siblings all had the dark oban skin that Xylia adored.

Ujana 5
Ujana made a little 'o' with her mouth and let out a low whistle. "You've got my sympathy. I had two older kids before Ika and her brother so at least I knew what was coming." If the twins had been triplets instead Ujana might have put her head on a counter and bashed her skull in herself.
"Hey, fruit is pretty extravagant to me. We've mostly just got a lot of nuts and stewed root." Meat was just too expensive at the moment in Jauhar and most of the resources still needed to be put towards stocking up for the kids. Sure, Ika was with her now, but she wouldn't be for much longer. Ariya still needed coin to keep them fed and goddess knew those kids could eat.
Taking up some fruit, Ujana popped the top off her own water flask and splashed a little on them to start scrubbing. "I think that's sweet. My little Eurig was like that for the longest time. Makes me want to have more."

Ika 5
"I've never seen any like yours. I've seen some that were a lot lighter, but never like that." The pale one in the jungle had markings as light as milk, but beyond him she hadn't seen any others that classified as different. Everyone else, including the hybrids, had teal markings. Hearing that her other mother was from Oba made sense, though. It would explain the color of her hair and the markings, not to mention the eyes. It was kind of hard not to notice that they didn't match.
"Are there a lot of alkidike where you live?" She never heard of a group in Oba. It wasn't strange to see Obans settling in some of the southern most Jauhar villages, but to see an alkidike this far into the sands....it just seemed weird.

Tyiva 6
"Thanks. That makes me feel so much more confident in raising three at once." Tyiva replied with a laugh. "Thankfully I'm not alone so we'll see how we all survive in a few more years." So far their children had been fairly good minus their playful bursts of energy that had Tyiva running about the manor. Other than that they were good spirited and fairly good at following directions and not wandering off.....well all the time. Her gaze slid towards her biggest troublemaker at the thought and Tyiva could only shake her head slightly. It was probably for the best that she had agreed to let Xylia tag along on this trip else the girl would have tried following on her own.
"Then I'm glad to offer what we have." Replied Tyiva with a small smile. She knew that her Oban lover had more connections and wealth than others and even the simplest thing like a basket of fruits could be a luxury, especially in the desert. "Aww, so I'm assuming you did have more then." Teased Tyiva as she glanced towards the other girl who was talking with her daughter. "I'm just thankful that Aisha blessed us with three blooms. We weren't certain that we would receive any for a time." Her voice trailed off with a flush as she realized she admitted to her worries. "But here we are with three young healthy ones and perhaps even more in the future should we survive the triplets."

Xylia 6
"Lighter?" Xylia perked up at the thought of someone else having different markings. Even if they weren't dark like hers it was still a relief to know that there was more than just teal markings out there! Not that she minded teal markings because she thought that they were lovely but it was more that she didn't want to feel quite so alone. At least her brother shared her eyes too and Xylia was grateful to have both her sister and brother in her life. They were well loved so she didn't feel quite so alone in the world for sure.
"Nope! We actually haven't been to Jahaur that I know of so this will be my first time seeing other Alkidikes." Replied Xylia honestly. "We live in Oba near the capital. Our family lives in a manor all the way out towards the desert so we don't get a lot of company and never Alkidikes." Her mother had a friend that Xylia heard about on occasion and another friend who couldn't leave Chibale ever. She was hoping to actually meet her soon! Apparently she was very important and what not to the Alkidikes. "What about you? Do you see a lot of Alkidike?"

Ujana 6
"I think if I asked for more my girlfriend might kill me." Ujana laughed. She rotated a little pink fruit in her hands, gently using the callouses on her palms to exfoliate the tender snack "She had a daughter when we met and I was with child at the time. When he was old enough we went to Aisha and had our twins. Soooo much better than childbirth, I'll tell you that much." After visiting Aisha Ujana was convinced she could have a thousand kids. As long as she never had to go through another pregnancy she could do anything!
"I don't think Ariya even thought about leaving Chibale until we had our blooms. It took ages and I was worried that because we already had kids that Aisha wouldn't let us, but here we are." Looking over to the girls, Ujana motioned towards them. "And here you are! Three kids, all at once. Imagine if you get another three the next time you go. That's a bit to think about, isn't it?"

Ika 6
"Yeah, like...he said he was from Sauti. So they were like...." Thinking it over, Ika looked down and a thought came to her. She held up her forearm, flashing her training bandages, "His skin was like this and his markings were just a little darker."
In all honesty Ika was glad that her own markings were more traditional. It was the only thing on her that tied her to the Alkidike, save for her hair color. Everything else was entirely earthling and it tended to get to her from time to time, especially when the 'sisters' called her out for it.
"A manor?" Wait, so this kid was rich? Sure didn't look it, but looking past her to the alkidike talking with her own mother made her rethink it. "Yeah, we see them all the time. Mama owns a tavern just on the edge of Alkidike territory so that my other mama can spend as much time with them as she wants."

Tyiva 7
"I'll believe you there based on the other stories I've heard." Replied Tyiva lightly with a small laugh. "It sounds like you've got quite the family then." Earthling, Alkidike and then hybrid children....it definitely sounded like a busy household. Tyiva nodded as Ujana expressed her own concerns about having blooms. "I see that we weren't alone then in such worries. Not that we had previous children but more so that Aisha wouldn't bloom for us."
"Oh my!" Tyiva quickly shook her head. "I wouldn't know what to do if we had another three at once! Our home is big but I don't think we could handle the surprise." She grinned at the thought before placing out the food along the blanket. "This should do. Feel free to eat what you need. Xylia! Don't stay in the water too long and come and eat!" Tyiva called out towards her daughter before reaching down for a piece of sweetbread to chew on. After they rested here they would head towards Jahaur and then see what the deeper forests of her home had to offer them. She could only hope for the best as she hoped for the best for Ujana and her daughter while they travelled into Oba.

Xylia 7
"Oh wow! Really?" Xylia's gaze widened as the other girl explained the boy with strange markings. He was like her then but with different colors! If he was from Sauti then that would also explain it for sure. Her gaze brightened at the thought before she found herself slowly slipping closer to the girl while they talked together. "Mmhmm. Is that weird?" She asked with a slight frown before shaking her head. "Mama Karo is really busy so she likes havin' space away from the city." So surely that was why, right? Apparently compared to other families in Oba their little manor was average or so. Still, Xylia loved every bit of it especially their courtyard with the pool and all the plants!
"Oh that must be amazing." Breathed Xylia. "They must have some amazing stories since you see so many travelers and Alkidike!" Taverns were a place for stories after all, right? A lot of her stories she heard from some of the servants involved tavern meetings between strangers. Sort of like how they were meeting here but in an oasis. The thought made her grin before her mother's voice caught her attention. "Okay!" Xylia dove back under the water before swimming back towards her mother. Maybe they could learn more about each other while eating lunch together. One could only hope!

Ujana 7
"Ika! Come on over and get something to eat!" If she need her daughter like she knew she did then the teenager would be famished. There was something about trying to fill up an alkidike, let alone one with a bottomless stomach, that taught Ujana to recognize the signs.
It seemed like while their paths were different they weren't actually all that dissimilar. Tyiva was just trying to travel with her daughter to see old friends which was exactly what Ujana was trying to do. With any luck they would get there safely.

Ika 7
"No, guess not." It most certainly was weird because what kind of Oban with a manor goes around and gets an Alkidike wife? It didn't make a lot of sense to Ika, but she couldn't poke around for questions with her mother looking over at her like that.
And when they were called over she rose out of the water, carefully picking her way back out to dry land where she didn't even bother wiping down her legs. It seemed like Oba was going to be strange for sure and now...she wasn't for sure how long she actually wanted to stick around.
