I love food with a blinding passion, especially good food. Up here in the land of poo (otherwise known as North East PA) good food is hard to come by. and I hate chain restaurants. Can't stand them. I've come to believe that if reservations aren't required it's prolly not worth it, except for the diner up the street. They have the most amazing hamburgers ever. But I love anything. Katana is the local sushi place and they have an incredible american roll that makes me want to die.
As far as homemade stuff, my mom always made enchilada casserole. It's the kind of thing that I can eat until i'm sick. It's just a mess of ground beef, corn tortillas, monterey jack cheese, onions, black olives, and cream of chicken soup. Seriously, it's so ******** good. I've finally managed to master it. And sausage gravy with homemade biscuits. And fresh, homemade balsamic vinagrette with fresh bread....okay, now I'm hungry.

I am stubbornly entrenched in Austin. Austin has one of the highest restaurant counts per capita in the states...I think it is about 2nd. No it's not a large place but the food here tends toward the seriously peachy keen. From the littlest taqueria stand to the finest in dining...OMG, I'm in heaven. I generally only go to chain restaurants if I'm invited by friends...but I too, I am complete fancy restaurant junkie. If I can get an invite, I'm there. biggrin I have a circle of friends who tend to come to me to ask me about where to go, because when I was with my ex, our primary occupation was dining out...because he had the money. *laughs* So, chances are if it's interesting and good...I've got something to say about it. Right now I have a few good dinner companions, and some damn fine memories. I actually had a 10 day jaunt of amazing food around my birthday this year. No one bought me a gift, although my SO sent me some money to buy my digicam. What the remain folks did do was take me out to meals during that period. I have to say it was my favorite birthday, bar none. I posted some of it in the first guild I joined but the interest level was practically nil...not many food maniacs are in the age 14-16 bracket. I think I'll copy some of the posts so I can share em. biggrin Would you mind posting your Mom's recipe for the Enchie Casserole, Book Whore? I'd love to try that!!!! Also, too bad your married! I could use a beautiful wife and dining companion! wink Anyway, if you're ever in Austin, I'll say you should look me up, and we can dine!!!

I could use a beautiful wife and dining companion! wink Anyway, if you're ever in Austin, I'll say you should look me up, and we can dine!!! 4laugh hehe...silly girl. I actually am from Texas, Ft.Worth to be exact. Thats where I developed my food-addiction. And ya know...if you're the freaky type, hubby and I do like the girls..... wink But enough of that. The enchilada casserole is incredibly simple. 1-2 lbs cooked ground beef 1-2 packs corn tortillas 1 family size can of cream of chicken soup, heated, made with 1/2 milk and 1/2 water 2 cans sliced black olives, drained 1 large onion, diced 2 packs of shredded monterey jack or any mix you like. i usually use the preshredded mexican mix from sargento. 1 large casserole dish do a thin layer of the soup in the bottom of the pan and then do a layer of the corn tortillas. put more soup over that to make sure they soften up. layer the ground beef, onions, and black olives. then layer cheese on top. cover it w/ the soup and start over with the tortillas. keep stacking until your done. the last layer should be tortillas with the rest of the soup poured over it. cook it for about an hour at 350. it prolly will bubble over so you may want to put the pan on a cookie sheet. it's so good but i've found (and hubby agrees) that it's best when it's reheated. i'll make a pan of it on sunday and we'll eat it for the rest of the week. enjoy pretty lady 3nodding

My dad lives in Iraan, which is also in the Midland/Odessa area. He was in Peyote for a while, and also in a little tiny place called Monahans...all of which are in that area. *laughs* Nothing out there but a big old meteor crater. That's why they have the TYC Juvenile Prison out there. I haven't been to Kermit, or Wink, but I know the area well enough to know what it might be like!

Very few foods are able to stop me in my tracks. Some of those foods would be my sister's orange rice (AKA mexican rice) and my mom's rice and corn. I'm not one for sweet food, but when it comes to semi-bitter foods, I'm game. I also love Sashimi (with wasabi mixed with soy) and beef lo mein. Shrimp fried rice is cool too. Aside from that, I tend to be impartial to most foods being that I can eat almost anything. Deserts? Pumpkin and Pecan pie are usually on top of the list for me. 3nodding

Yea not much in Wink, but the school is awsome, they have an indoor heated swimming pool, a hot tub, a big weight room, a hot room, a steam room, and thats just in the gym!

Mt. Dew, in all it's various glories.
I especially recommend my own personal creation, Scooby Dew. Equally mixed Code Red, Mountain Dew and Lipton's Raspberry Iced Tea. For a little kick, add lime vodka to taste.
And yes, I do know we're talking about food. rofl

Especially noting that vodka can be mixed into it.

I don't know when it happened, but just like Gonz, there is no food that really just makes me go GAH. In truth, I eat when and because I have to. I usually don't even chew. As long as it fills the void in my tummy tum, it makes my list of good food. As long as it stays down, it makes the A list for sure. If it's free, it is devine.
