"I did not." She said almost proudly. Mostly because if she had learned one thing in all her years as a traveler it was that her fishing skills sucked. She could hunt on land with the best of them but trying to fish was a challenge. "I bought it at the market on my way." Dem moved then so that she could pat the small pack she had over her shoulder. "Come on, you can start the fire in the pit while I get the food ready." She offered him her hand so that he could take it. If he did then she'd lead the way to her place so that they could the nice evening underway.

It was the sweet moments like this that he lived for. He took her hand and squeezed gently. She was a wonderful woman, that man of hers better get back soon or someone was like to take her. Though her loyalty was definitely not in question. "I am rather good at starting fires for an iceling." He grinned wickedly. "Even some of the obans struggled to catch up, but I reckon starting a fire is more important in Zena, it was cold there, I had four blankets on me at one point, my father was laughing." To hear him talk he was a little boy again, not the heavily muscled, beast commanding, facial hair wearing denizen of the coast that he was. It felt weird to not think desert in his head, he still had sand in ...places, like his bedding. Insidious stuff.

With the squeeze she tugged him forward and lead the way. Luckily they weren't too far away from her own home. "Well, how anyone starts a fire up there when there's a snow storm is beyond me." She grumbled slightly. "Almost froze my feelers off once." Dem had gone up to visit a friend and had gotten there just in time for the cold winds and snow falls. It hadn't been the best time for a visit but she couldn't predict when snow storms were gonna happen. "Luckily you don't really need blankets here. A light sheet is the most I've ever needed." Her eyes went to the sky then and she smiled. "Tonight looks like it's gonna be a good night to go without though." Matori had nice weather and usually one could get away with no blanket.

"I used to need the weight of a blanket to sleep but then Oba was so hot that I too went without. If it were not for the small spring by my old place I probably would have melted out there." He didn't think she knew how she was torturing him with her hotness. Ah well it made him feel alive. It didn't help that her sweet arse was so conviniently close too. "I don't miss frostbite at all, or the feeling before the frostbite when your hands want to stop working. But reading by the fire under a blanket was always good."

She looked back at Kiyelt and smiled at him. "Yeah? I found a nice oasis in the desert myself. I stop there every time on my way through. Met a few interesting people there." She remembered meeting a soldier there once. He'd been an interesting fella. A bit stiff but still interesting. Of course it made her wonder how he was doing. Bringing her thoughts back to her friend and current company she nodded her head in agreement to his statement about frostbite. "I do not miss that feeling. I don't like when my fingers hurt so much they don't want to work." Thick gloves had been her solution to that but even so, the cold was unforgiving. As they spoke she led them to her home. Once there she let go of his hand and motioned to the unused fire pit just to the side but still out front. "Alright, lets see those skills of yours."

Kiyelt set to work, building up a small teepee shape with kindling and setting the good flammable stuff on the inside then he used the flint and knife to ignite the center, blowing gently and realiably the fire did his bidding and started to lick the kindling. "Pretty reliable method as long as its not all wet when you try. Sure beats the fire drill method, though possible I still hate doing it." Flint was life! He proceeded to feed the fire twigs and then slowly larger peices of wood until it was at a decent size and maturity for food.

While he worked on the fire she stepped inside to get the food ready. V'demhe also grabbed the wine she knew she had. It always paid off to send a letter ahead and have supplies delivered. By the time she had everything ready the fire was started. She moved close and found a place to sit next to the growing fire, her eyes staring at it for a moment. When she looked up at Kiyelt she smiled. "I'm impressed. Now if you can do that in a snow storm I'll gladly give you anything you want." Maybe the next time she went to Zena she'd have to take him with her. Dem lifted the bottle of wine in her hand and held it toward him. "Drink? All I have is mugs, no fancy glasses." With kids in and out of the house all the time she didn't trust glass not to break and hurt one of them. So she'd opted for the safer materials.

"Yes please, I would love wine." "The secret to doing it in a snowstorm is building a shelter first and keeping your tinder and fuel as dry as possible in oilskins unfortunately it means you have to pack it around with you but fire is life so it is worth it." If they traveled together they would be unstoppable with combined strength and experience. "Mugs are a step up from my earthenware bowls, at least yours have handles." Mugs were more practical. He stared at the fire too, he couldn't be more happier right now. "I'm thinking of starting a garden here, any recommendations?"

With him agreeing that he wanted a drink she poured some into a mug for him. Dem made sure it was more than half full before she handed it over. "Eh, that's not so bad when you have a beast to help out." If someone had to carry the stuff around on their own then it might get to be a bit of a problem. The alkidike poured herself some wine next then set the bottle down as she positioned the salmon over the fire to cook. The mention of a garden made her look at him. "Like.. for food or for beauty?" A vegetable garden would be fairly easy. The basics were usually a safe bet since they were hardy enough to survive in most terrains. However, if Kiyelt meant a garden for beauty then she would be at a loss. Most of the nice flowers she saw were in the wild where they were meant to be.

"Both I think, maybe a few flowers to represent friends, then some vegetable plants some of which can also be beautiful. I found out I have siblings of youngling age and I remember them playing in the garden just like I did. I dare say it would be easier to garden here than in Zena with our rediculously short summer." "Easier than Oba too with the heat, as long as the coast doesnt flood me I'll be okay. Do you know of a place that would have suitable land for that? I haven't quite settled in yet, I'm still at an Inn until I know where I want to live."

13/20 She thought about it for a second then nodded. Having both types in a garden would be very beneficial and wise. Not only could one have food but they could experience the beauty of the flowers. She took a sip of her own mug of wine and moved her gaze to look toward the water. Her home was right on the beach. Of course it was far enough up to avoid high tide and the like so it wasn't too close. After a moment longer of thinking she looked back at Kiyelt. "Honestly.. the soil is richer the farther inland you go. Out by the water its sandy. Not much grows." Dem looked back toward the distance that was behind them and smiled. "I think if you go inland about a mile or so the ground is a bit more forgiving. And if you find a nice place on a small mound then you still get the view of the ocean." Most of the coast was flat so there was little to obstruct the view of the sea.

"That sounds about perfect, I'm sure my Oban pets wouldn't enjoy the sea spray anyway and a mile is not too far to walk at all, especially after all the travel I have done." His legs were solid muscle, walking was not a problem..at all. Occupational hazard..though at least he had all of his limbs still, and it was really hard to sneak up on someone who had done so much sneaking. He stared pensively at the beautiful fish she had placed on the fire. "I must say that Matori has great sea stock! So fresh, as it should be. I won't go hungry here." "What do you think of the new trees? I heard whispers but nothing concrete so far, I know how word travels and I feel like as an alk you would have more insight into it."

"It does sound perfect. If I wasn't traveling around so much it would be ideal for me too." Being able to stay at home, in one spot, would be good for her. And for her kids. They could find her more easily that way for sure. So if they needed something or simply wanted to see her it would be easier on them.
Her attention followed his and she checked on the large salmon. It wasnt quite done yet so she shifted its position to help it cook more thoroughly.
The question about the new trees gave her pause. Mostly she looked at him with some hesitation before she settled back to take another drink of her wine. "Well.. I think its great that there are more trees out there that will give life but they are no Aisha. I'm not an extremist, obviously, but I am loyal to my mother tree." While she might not pray or worship the other trees as her goddess she could appreciate them for what they were. "I am sure Aisha is proud to have them as well."

"I bet Aisha is too, they are her family too after all. So cool that she can have alk daughters but also tree daughters, you all are amazingly full of magic." Kiyelt smiled. They were all beautiful to him. "That fish is starting to smell really good. I love roasted fish over the fire." He sighed happily, he had needed this, he could feel the companionship and joy starting to recharge his spirit. "Dem, I can't begin to describe what you have done for me today. Thank you."

15/20
It really was amazing that Aisha could have daughters in more than one way. Just as she could take in those who needed a mother. Dem smiled and brought her mug up to finish off the wine still in it. "One of these days I will have more daughters I'm sure." She did dream of when she could go to Aisha and confidently ask for more blooms.
As Kiyelt mentioned the smell of the salmon she chuckled and checked on the food once more. "Aye, and its almost done. I'd say fifteen more minutes or so and it'll be ready to eat." Dem was basing that off the color.
With her mug empty she picked up the bottle and poured herself some more wine. After her own cup was full she looked at Kiyelt and held the bottle up questioningly. "Need a refill?"
