A Name for Myself The crisp Sauti air was just how he had remembered it. The fog on the mountains, the dew on the short spurts of grass, it was like his childhood all over again.
He hadn't been back to Sauti in a couple of years now... well... more like five or six years he thought with a shrug of his shoulders. He didn't tend to linger on big feelings, and nostalgia counted as a big feeling. There was too much life to live to get stuck on the negatives.
He threw his shoulders back and started a brisk pace into town. His family had broken up for now. His mom and Faylen choosing to stay in Tale for this trip, while his father and himself went to go trading. Hyten wasn't all that big into the trading hustle and being business-y and all that, but hey - he was a supporter of family. If his dad needed a hand, he was there.
He was seventeen now and before too long would need to start looking into how he was going to make himself known in the real world. How he would make a living and handle being an adult. He knew fabric merchant just wasn't for him, not his style, but he could pick up jobs here and there. He liked traveling. Maybe he would just pick up and see the world for a bit.
Maybe he could be a body guard of sorts. Maybe some high profile people needed the extra hands and extra protection. Hyten wasn't much of a fighter... yet... but he was a pretty beefy guy. He had really filled out when puberty hit and all those reels and rolls of fabric weren't light.
He flexed to the air around him and grinned at this guns. They were solid. He had almost a farmboy type build.
The road under his feet slowly turned to cobble and he entered the small town. His dad was still at the wagon, but he had opted to go in and get something to eat. So now, it was time to chow down, but later... well, maybe he would look for a weapon merchant. Try to get a feel for what felt best for him.
It was a thought that he would much rather linger on in his brain than sad things like forlorned childhoods, that's for sure.

Speak to Me In the heart of the Sauti mountains, where the air was crisp and the sky stretched out in an endless expanse of dusky lavenders and pinks, Hyten found himself on a quest unlike any other. With a spring in his step and a gleam of excitement in his eye, he ventured into the small village nestled among the rocky cliffs, his mind set on one thing and one thing only – finding the perfect weapon to call his own.
As he strolled through the narrow streets lined with cottages and tented houses, Hyten couldn't help but feel a sense of exhilaration coursing through his veins. The air was alive with the sounds of laughter and conversation, and the scent of freshly baked bread wafted through the air, mingling with the crisp mountain breeze.
With each passing moment, his anticipation grew, fueled by the knowledge that he was about to embark on a journey that would change his life forever. For Hyten was not one to shy away from adventure – to him, life was meant to be lived to its fullest, with every moment seized and savored with gusto.
As he approached the bustling market square at the center of the village, Hyten's eyes widened with wonder at the array of weapons on display – swords and spears, bows and arrows, each one more magnificent than the last. It was a sight to behold, a testament to the craftsmanship and skill of the artisans who called the mountains home.
With a grin of anticipation, Hyten set off to explore the various stalls and shops, his eyes darting eagerly from one weapon to the next as he weighed his options. He tried out swords and shields, testing their balance and heft with practiced hands, but none of them seemed to speak to him in quite the same way as the large axe that caught his eye from across the square.
As he approached the stall where the axe was displayed, Hyten felt a thrill of excitement coursing through his veins. There was something about the weapon – the way it gleamed in the sunlight, the way it seemed to hum with power and potential – that called out to him in a way that no other weapon had before.
Without hesitation, Hyten reached out to grasp the axe, feeling its weight settle comfortably in his hand as if it had been made for him and him alone. With a nod of satisfaction, he turned to the merchant who stood behind the stall, a broad grin spreading across his face.
"I'll take it," he said, his voice filled with confidence and excitement. "This is the one."
The merchant nodded in approval, his eyes twinkling with amusement. "A fine choice, my friend," he said, his voice tinged with respect. "May it serve you well on your travels."
And with that, Hyten paid for the axe and made his way back through the bustling streets of the village, his heart light and his step buoyant with excitement. He couldn't wait to show his new weapon to his father, who was stationed with his traveling fabric merchant wagon just outside of town.
As he approached the wagon, Hyten could see his father busy with customers, his face animated as he regaled them with tales of his travels and the wares he had to offer. With a wide grin, Hyten bounded up to the wagon and proudly displayed his new axe for his father to see.
"Dad, look what I got!" he exclaimed, his voice filled with excitement as he held up the gleaming weapon for his father to inspect.
With a sense of contentment and excitement bubbling within him, Hyten spent the rest of the day at his father's side, regaling him with tales of his adventures in the village and showing off his new weapon to anyone who would listen. And as the sun dipped below the horizon and the stars began to twinkle in the night sky, Hyten felt a sense of happiness and fulfillment wash over him, knowing that he had made his father proud and taken another step on his journey to greatness.
With his trusty axe by his side and his father's love and support to guide him, Hyten knew that the future held endless possibilities and adventures yet to come. And as he drifted off to sleep that night, he did so with a smile on his face and a heart full of excitement for the journey that lay ahead.

Echoes of Home Hyten sat on a moss-covered rock at the edge of the Sauti mountains, his gaze fixed on the horizon as the sun dipped below the peaks in a blaze of orange and gold. It had been three weeks since he had left his home in Tale, his mother and sister waving goodbye from the doorstep as he set off on his journey to the mountains.
Normally, Hyten was not one to dwell on negative thoughts – he preferred to focus on the present moment, seizing every opportunity for adventure and excitement that came his way. But tonight, as the cool mountain air wrapped around him like a comforting embrace, he found himself lost in thought, his mind drifting back to the ones he had left behind.
His mother, with her gentle smile and soothing voice, had always been a constant presence in his life – a source of love and support that had seen him through the ups and downs of his teenage years. And his sister, with her infectious laughter and playful spirit, had been his closest companion, sharing in his joys and sorrows with unwavering loyalty.
As Hyten thought of them now, a pang of longing tugged at his heart, reminding him of the bond they shared and the memories they had made together. He missed the warmth of his mother's embrace, the sound of her laughter ringing in his ears, and the comforting scent of home that always lingered in the air.
But even as he missed them, Hyten knew that he had made the right choice in coming to the mountains. Here, amidst the rugged beauty of the Sauti wilderness, he had found a sense of freedom and adventure that he had never known before. He had forged new friendships and discovered new passions, embracing each new experience with the same enthusiasm and energy that had always defined him.
And yet, despite the excitement of his new surroundings, there was a part of Hyten that longed for the familiarity of home – for the comforting routine of family dinners and lazy afternoons spent lounging in the sun. He knew that he would return to Tale someday, but for now, he was content to explore the world beyond its borders, to carve out his own path and make his own mark on the world.
As the stars began to twinkle in the night sky, Hyten felt a sense of peace settle over him – a quiet reassurance that no matter where life took him, his family would always be there, cheering him on from afar. And as he closed his eyes and let the gentle rhythm of the mountains lull him to sleep, he knew that he was exactly where he was meant to be – here, in the heart of the Sauti wilderness, with the echoes of home guiding him on his journey.
