Oberon paused, giving Chaldene a curious look, then glanced back to where the orbs were circling. Either Chaldene was making a decisive guess, or he knew more than Oberon did about this mysterious figure.
"She, huh?" he sent his adventuring partner a grin. "Hoping to end tonight asking for a date?"
No, he shouldn't be teasing about something like that. For all they knew, or at least all Oberon knew, the figure didn't identify with any earthly terms for gender. But whatever they were, Oberon was happy to learn. For science, of course.
"Go for it. Once it starts to fade at least. No sense in wasting your energy."
Still, from where they were, Oberon couldn't get enough information to tell what they were looking at. Sleet Tempest Snape LOL It's okay, Oberon and I don't judge. XD

"Hardly, not my type." He joked with a shake of his head. "And I suppose I'm assuming a bit much." Perhaps it was a male but whenever he thought of fairy, not elves or anything specific like that, he thought of females.
"Mmm, hopefully the idea works and lures them out closer to us." So they could see a bit better just what they were dealing with. It did seem they were getting closer to the orbs, which was the idea of things. Some days he really did wish his magic did more - tonight wasn't one of them. Tonight him having less destructive, less dangerous, magic worked in his favor given what his magic did.
"If we can't get a picture you can write down a good description and maybe there is something we can find out about it? Books...whether here on Earth or perhaps pictures in books elsewhere." In case it wasn't something from this planet, who really knew after all. And he knew, not from his own planet, but he knew texts up in space couldn't be read by anyone alive today - a shame really. There was so much information lost...a whole planets history!
That did remind him that he hadn't been to Chaldene itself in a long time...he should go again soon despite there being little to do. He'd never seen very solid land there and the homes were all on stilts, so were fairly small. Maybe one day he'd find a bigger place...on actual solid dry land.
When his spell did wear off he cast it again, calling out the whispered words, he made sure to creep close enough that he'd get the fairy with his magic.

”Too ethereal?” Oberon nodded in understanding. “Yeah, I get that.” He was just joking around, of course. He could care less what others’ interests or types were.
“I don’t know how much we’re going to be seeing, but keep trying, at least until your magic is out. I could give you a boost if you need it, but then you would probably be awake all night.” His magic was something of a simulant after all.
“Yeah, I’ll get as good a description as I can and do some research later. Watch, I still say this is going to turn out to be some elaborate hoax the city played on everyone.”
He was a scientist and a realist.
“Maybe one at a time would be best. Try getting closer to get a good look and tell me what you see,” he suggested, surprised that the figure lasted as long as it had. Maybe the would get lucky after all.
