”I like your hair. My dad doesn’t wear his hair like that.” He’d never thought to ask why not until now. It wasn’t a bad style. Probably easier to maintain. One didn’t have to brush it. Not that Llyr had hair to brush. But his siblings did. It caused him to bring one hand up to rub against the short hair he sported. The day after it was washed it always felt like velvet. He kinda liked it that way.

The conversation had gone from rude to weird. Were little kids like this all the time? Had he been like this? Blinking at Llyr he watched as the boy rubbed at his own hair. ”Thanks. It’s just easier to keep out of my face this way.” He hadn’t really thought about whether or not it looked cool or good. ”Working at the forge can be dangerous so I try to limit the possibilities of bad things happening.” Mention of the forge made him remember his task and he looked forward at the road. He should be moving on. So he took a few steps forward then paused to look at the boy. ”Nice sand castle by the way..” Encouraging the boy would hopefully make him want to be a creator when he grew up. The world could always use more of those.

So dreads were easier to maintain. It made sense. They looked pretty easy to tie back and there were no stray hairs to get in the way. His brother Moriko would have to worry about stray hairs. Same for his sister, Skeena. He saw the man take a few steps then pause and his brows came together confusedly. Was he leaving or not? The the compliment to his castle came and Llyr lit up. His smile said it all but he had to half shout, “Thanks!” Pride welled up in him for his little project and he looked at it. It was still half finished but he intended for there to be more

While he hadn’t meant to make the kid shout at him he couldn’t help but answer it with a grin. ”Keep up the good work.” Dovian started to walk again. ”Maybe I can see the finished product when I come back through.” It would be a few hours at least. He was sure the boy could managed to finish the castle by then. Unless he planned on making a whole kingdom to go with it. In which case the kid might be there a while. Still, he offered a wave of his hand so that he could be on his way. ”I’ll pass back through in a few hours. Let’s see what you got kid.”

Hearing that the man would be back to see how far he got made him smile. That meant that someone other than himself could admire his handiwork! Llyr nodded and waved to the man as he walked away. He waited for a few seconds then turned and scurried back to his castle. He had to get some progress done before Dovian came back. He wanted to see how impressed the man would be when he was done.
