Solo
New Page, Same Age.

Myrida settled into the nook of her new room. Well, not so new since she had been here for a few years thus far. The female smiled as she thought about the major change to her life just a little over a year ago. Ai...her swordsman. She suppressed the giggle fit she felt before looking at the new outfit on her bed. Standing she walked over to the chest top that now completely covered her chest, while detached sleeves clasped around her upper arms and flowed out around her fingertips. Her shorts were still short...she liked them that way but now she had leg warmers that tied to rings at the hem of the shorts. Her boots were sleek and ended at her ankles. Random tassels dangled off her frame where the eye was pleased. She had a cloak that ended around her knees, which she wore only when the cold really struck her. Most of the time she had it draped over her belt around her waist. Preferring a set of pouches which allowed her to be less top heavy so she could pick locks better.

She put on her clothes, changing out of her night shirt and jogged down the steps. She thought over whether she should visit Ai or stay inside today. She was about to leave to bug him before she saw them...she paused as she watched the Shifter Hybrid. She remembered her Dad and Papa telling her that an old friend was coming to visit. They were a magic user. Sorcerer Class, one who took up the staff and used it with deadly accuracy when pushed that far. She slowed in her steps to walk over to a counter and lean on it as she watched the Sorcerer perform a few spells for the squealing younglings. She was so engrossed in watching the dancing stones that she didn’t hear her Dad till the male had a wooden blade at her side.

“I thought I taught you better, Myrida…” he trailed off feeling the press of a wooden blade into his own side. Smiling as he removed his to stow it away. “Fair. How do you like him?”

She glanced to her father with a smirk. “I can see how his skills would be a asset to the group. I didn’t think we had any magic users….”

The elder sighed. “We don’t. He’s the only one we had till his wife left him with their son. After that he left due to a ill mindset. He’s...getting better. We’re still worried however.”

Myrida looked at her Dad. “Is magic in everyone?”

He hummed. “You might have the talent yes. Your Mother was a Sorceress.” The girl turned to fully look at her father with a slack jaw. The male chuckled as he closed it. “Yes. She was a magic user, quite vain because of it...but I’ve always felt you had her talent.”

Myrida blinked as she looked down at her feet. She glanced up to the Sorcerer. Then to her Dad. Was the elder telling her this to encourage her to go down that path of magic in order to strengthen the group in the long run. That would be highly beneficial but then...her Mother. Myrida had a lot of issues with her Mother. The primary one being that the woman didn’t want a child in the first place. That was hard to accept as a child, but Myrida got over it as she got older.

Or so, she hoped.

She looked back up, a small voice in the back of her head urging her closer yet. There was a doubt in the back of her mind. What if she was more her Mother than her Father? She shook her head to clear it of doubt before she walked over to sit near the fire. Deciding to watch the magic user a little longer. Maybe she could find answers in the other that she couldn’t find in herself.

Class Solo
Figuring Out a New Chapter

Myrida had been having weird dreams. Well, not exactly weird...just...beyond odd. She had started feeling as if things in her was shifting. Like she was going through the start of her maturity again. Oh no...the female groaned as she rolled over in her bed to hug her pillows. Not that again!!! Going through the start of her maturity period was hard enough the first time!!! She let out a soft scream of frustration as she got up and dressed. The female was in loose clothes not feeling up to putting on a corset today she would keep to staying inside. She wanted to give herself something to do.

Just...what was that though?

She paced in the upper level of the Inn where she and her father’s slept. As well as generally lived. As she came to a stop she saw the old friend...the magic user. He was walking up to the Inn’s steps. Stopping to look up and she felt his gaze locked with hers. The female found herself nearly running down the steps as he entered fully. She stopped as she felt the cold floor, opting to go into the warmer den where the main fireplace roared in life. She curled up in one of the bigger soft chairs as the hybrid walked in and sat where he was last time. She looked at him for a long while. The male wasn’t exactly looking at her until she moved. The sharpness of the head turn coupled with the near dead stare had the female frozen for a moment. Then she finished rising so she could look him square in the eye…

“Can you---” she started ask before the male’s voice cut her off.

“Nyida’s girl...your Mother has strong magic in her blood.” his voice was soft. She felt little emotion in it. The female nodded mutely as he smiled. “Micari is a good Father. He’s given you a lot, child. What is it you want from magic?”

“I want to help Dad. I want to protect him. I know Papa does that well enough, but I want to make sure…” she said softly. She looked up surprised when the male took her hands in his. They were large, rough in some places. She looked up and was surprised to see emotion in the depths of his eyes.

“Good reasons. Now...shall we see what magic lies within you, yes?” he asked standing. He blinked before smiling down at her. “Kindari, is my name by the way little one.” He introduced himself with a chuckle. The male seemed energetic now. Myrida felt she was going to get dizzy with how fast his moods changed.

That was pretty fast, Myrida later found out. Over the course of several months she underwent a different sort of training with the male than she was used to with her father. While she still had her bandit training, the mystic was by far more demanding mentally. She was thrilled with it. Already seeing ways she could combine the two. Seeing ways she could protect the group...and Ai. She smiled gently to herself. She could do so much for her Dad. It was several months and a few days after she started training that she found herself laying on her bed. The female was working on her meditation.

She sat on her bed, legs crossed. Hands relaxed on her knees. Meditation was the key to her tapping into her magic for now. Until she learned a few spells that would directly tap into her magic, she would have to meditate at least twice a week to keep the magic flow fresh and stable in her. She felt it as more along the lines of wind. Cool. Crisp. Always around her. She knew that her outward appearance wasn’t affected by it, but she looked forward to learning Air magic that would allow her to tap even deeper. Her teacher did say that the best method was to learn a spell that felt like your magic as you meditated.

She came out of her meditative trance slowly, opening her eyes to give a yelp as she backed into the wall. Her Dad sat there in a chair not even five feet from her. The male looked up with the barest twitch of a smirk at the corner of his mouth. He crossed his legs as he leaned back. “Kindari, is training you well in magic...you need to raise your awareness even under a trance however. Ask Kin how he does it. No one had even been able to take him by surprise when he was under.”

Myrida nodded. “Yes, sir. Ah...Dad. Thanks.” she said blushing.

She smiled as she felt her Father press a kiss to her temple. “I know you. You're just like me. Just being a mere bandit wouldn’t of been enough. Why else do you think I picked up being an Innkeeper as well?” he smiled at her as he stood to walk out. “Come down for lunch when your ready. Kin is joining us for dinner later on.”

Myrida smiled as she jumped up and joined her Father’s for the day. As dinner drew closer the slender female opened the door in time for her Teacher to walk up to it. The male smiled, a tad dark looking in the dying sunlight. “Very good, my prized pupil. Your magical awarness has gotten sharper.”

Her Dad leaned around a corner. “I am not wasting perfectly good firewood to heat the outside...Kin get in here. Mira shut that door!”

Both magic users, the teacher and their pupil jumped to obey the Innkeepers words. Kindari glanced to Myrida. “He has not changed. That much I can confirm. When we were kids in the group he was a demanding little diva. Now, even as adults he’s still---” the magic user trailed off as he blinked a few times. “He’s right behind me isn’t he?”

Myrida nodded as her Dad stood there tapping a foot. “Kin. Table. Mira. Kitchen, help your Papa set out the food. Kin. Don’t break anything.” he ordered with a sharp tone. The two rushed to get things done and settled.

Kindari called over his shoulder. “Yes, big brother.” as he sat down. Myrida’s Dad walking in to sit across from him.

Myrida paused as her Papa said. “You know their half brothers right?”

Growth Solo
A Mother's Note

Why were parents so irritating? Myrida mentally groused as she kicked at the shed wall again. The day started off so good. She had been able to grasp her magic so easily this morning. She was able to sense her Dad trying to sneak up behind her. She had finally been able to take him by surprise in retaliation to the attempted sneak attack. Such a good day. Then…

A letter came.

It was from her Mother.

Myrida nearly threw it into the fire if not for her Dad’s quick hands. The male stood there with the letter in his hand. Tapping it against his hip as he leveled a stare to his daughter. “Myrida. What were you about to do?”

Myrida blinked. “Burn it. I won’t read what she has to say. Dad. Her last letter you made me read was pretty much insulting you. At least every other sentence.” she threw up her hands in frustration before crossing her arms.

Her Dad sighed. “Read this one. Like all the others. Pay attention to her words. She is still your Mother…”

Myrida knew that she would have to tell her Father about the letter later. Sighing as well she held out hand snapping the letter out of the elder’s hand before she walks to a nearby chair. Flopped into the large soft thing and opened the letter. She made a face as she opened it to read what the woman had said.

Myrida.

Word reached me that you were learning of Magic. Fantastic. Finally you show yourself as my blood. The first thing you need to do, child. Is to come back to my side immediately. There are several high standing male magic users in the village as well as for several miles around. They would love to meet my esteemed child.

Myrida dropped the letter to her lap. Repressing the urge to throw it into the fire she took another breath. Then looked back at the letter. She knew after this she would most likely ask for a drink. She looked back to the letter to read further.

As you know. Your Father and I don’t exactly see eye to eye. I want you know, child. I wish you well. I do enjoy your existence, but I will not have you dilute the talent in your blood. You must return to me and bear children born of the Lunar Mother. I will not tolerate anything less.

Again Myrida stopped reading. Putting the letter to the side she glared up to her Father. The male was reading across from her with a near impassive expression on his face. “General irritation. I assume?”

She huffed. “General…? Dad. She wants me to bear only pure Shifters so her precious bloodline remains…”pure”. What in the world did you ever see in her?!?”

Her Father blinked as he looked at her. “Status. I needed a high position to cover myself. Other than that...I wanted the magic in her blood.” he glanced to Kindari who sat a ways further from them. Reading by the sunlight. “My Father’s second lover...Kin’s mother. Was a mystic. Blazing with the deserts fire. She was...extraordinary.” he smiled at her. “She said that she didn’t feel magic in me. As time went on, I was curious about a Magic Bandit.” He looked up to the ceiling.

Myrida leaned back. “Dad. I don’t mind that I was born of a loveless union. You’ve more than made up for that as I grew up. You’ve doubled that due to where we are now. I don’t want to be her puppet. I will not finish this letter. Nor will I ever reply to any of her letters. I can’t make myself more clear on that…”

Micari looked at his daughter. Seeing the same passion in her that he himself had when he was younger. The elder nodded. “Fair enough. I’ll allow you that. In due time however. You will have to face her.”

Myrida made a face. “I know...I just don’t want to deal with her now. I just found my magic. I don’t want to be her tool…” she sat back with a upset face. She glanced to the letter reading what she skimmed to her father. “I have little faith in your Father’s inane attempt at a stable life for you and the oaf in that tundra wasteland.” she glanced to him. The male was visibly frozen, she saw a hand movement that meant for her to go on. “I hope you will come to your Mother’s side soon.” she let the letter fall into her lap. “As usual nothing after that.” she sighed. “Can I throw this in the fire now?”

At her Father’s nod the youth stood. Tossing the balled up parchment in the fire. Turning back to her Father she walked over and sat on the floor in front of his chair. Leaning against his side she let out a contented sigh as her Father started to stroke her hair. She thought as her Father comforted her. The female sighing slow and long. “Dad. I don’t understand her.”

Her Father looked down at her. “She’s a child of status. Someone who’s had life given to her. Basically every soul we’ve ever stolen from to give to those they walked on.” he explained.

Myrida glanced up to her Father. “Thank the gods you became my favorite parent.”

The male laughed loudly as he leaned to the side to hold her. “I thank the gods for every day that I have you. My child.” As the Father and Daughter held each other finding comfort in their bond. As they parted Myrida reflected on her standing with both her parents. While closer with her Father, she knew one day she would regret her standing with her Mother. For now however...she had little remorse. Her Mother had made her grave, now she was going to lay in it. Myrida had all she needed. Her Father, Her Papa, A new Uncle...and...she smiled. Ai’ian.

Lesson Learned
Myrida learned the value of bonds. While she doesn't have a bond with her Mother, and she really doesn't want one. She has come to realize she might of started to take her current bonds for granted. She'll try to value everyone a little better now...she doesn't want to turn into her Mother's child.
