Class Quest:

Ever since he had decided to become a rider, he had taken up the lance and had been practicing with it any time he could in his free time. He felt like he was becoming fairly proficient in it but perhaps that was just his ego talking. It really was something he had been working pretty hard at. And yet, he had still been unable to make an important decision: what type of beast would he bond with for a mount. He had been around several different kinds of beasts from all over the land. Would he choose a classic janarim for his heritage like his father? Or should he choose a kinfa like Miss Varinia had found and bonded with. There was even the chiavi that his mother had found and bonded with even though she didn’t ride much. Nicias felt a little overwhelmed by the options. He almost felt like his people would not support him if he chose anything other than an oban beast. Being an Oban Prince was a weight on his shoulders sometimes.

However, he didn’t have all of that responsibility yet. He had quite a bit of responsibility sure, but at this point in time he still felt capable of his own decisions. It was a privilege his mother also had for most of her life until the war with the rest of Tendaji. Even with her position, she still found a way to make her own decisions including the chiavi she had chosen as her own mount. It had been an engagement gift from his father and was pretty special to his family. He wondered if he would be able to find a chiavi egg. It would involve travel to the cold land of Zena. The thoughts of travel reminded him of his best friend’s desire for travel. Nicias wondered if Reina would mind if they traveled and went on an adventure together. He had worried for her when she had first mentioned travel yet desperately wanted it for her at the same time. She deserved to do what she wished and maybe, just maybe they could do it together. He nodded his head to himself. That sounded like a plan to him but he would need to make a concrete plan so that his parents wouldn’t be able to find any problem with his travel plans and wouldn’t be able to reasonably object. Nic stode with purpose out of his room and towards the office his parents often shared. His plan was formulating in his mind as he made his way, nodding politely at a few of the other people in the hallways. Once the solid wood door was in front of him, he gathered his courage, knocked, and entered when he heard his Father’s voice.

When he stepped back into the hallway and closed the door behind him for the second time, Nicias had a big grin on his face. He was going to travel! There were a few stipulations to him leaving home that he had no choice but to agree with as his parents were both adept at bartering. He would also have to get Miss Varinia’s approval if he wanted Reina to travel with him or vice versa. Reina was a young woman and capable of her own decisions, sure, but they were both still young and under their parents' roofs so his parents wanted to make sure he did the polite thing and ask them for permission as well. He, or well they if Reina came along, would also be required to take an extra guard or two but they would at least have the opportunity to help decide on them. He had a little bounce in his step as he quickly walked towards the palace doors to go find wherever Reina was and let her know the news: they had plans to make!
