"Mille that is a nice name. It is great to meet you." He smiled at the doe and the fact that she though of him as a friend already. Turning back to the things crossed the table his mouth began to water with excitement. As Mille gave him her recommendations he found that is head began to nod yes to everything she listed. Being a dire rat he had a substantial apatite and since he had been brought up in the Homewood he had had the wonderful privilege to try everything that was offered to a noul. But then Mille said something that he would have only imagined. "Wait wait wait...You want me to be...your taste test?" He asked as the smile on his face grow bigger and bigger. Clapping in complete excitement at the idea, he just could not believe his luck today. Frist a pastry heaven dream, then waking up and finding the sweet smells were real, and now a taste tester for all the dire rats. "I would be greatly honor to be a taste tester for you." He rubbed his paws together totally ready to start this new job. If one could call eating everything to see how it tasted a job. "What do you want me to try first? Oh and since I am testing thing water is a good pallet cleaner between tests."

Millesime quirked her head at him "Well of course, i mean, you're the first to be interested in my drinks" she said brightly "and if you're going to live with us, it's only fair to include you guys in my process" she said, as it it made perfectly simple sense and to her, it did. She smiled at his enthusiasm "Great, i think since you've maybe not eaten yet, try the regular fruit juice, then perhaps we could go get a bite before moving onto the fermented ones, it's a mild one for this festival but i didn't judge for someone your size and i'm afraid it may have more of an effect on you than on a grown noulicorn" she explained, her face animated, she even gestured with her hoof on and off too. "Ah, yes," Ragnar said, nodding thoughtfully as Kachina spoke. He was perhaps a little surprised by how willingly she seemed to have embraced the presence of the dire rats here within their colony. A wonderfully progressive way of thinking, but suppose it wasn't practical? Dire rats had been their enemies for as long as Ragnar could remember, and to have a even a small population of them inside Homewood... there could be destructive consequences, if things were to go south. He shook his head, and made a motion that might have been akin to a shrug. "I would have to find out more before I can make a judgment," he admitted. "Many in my family have suffered attacks from dire rats. I'm curious to know how and why some of them seem to have... changed their attitude. But I cannot say that I would embrace one in my presence, or within my family, without some extended study.""An awakening, you say?" he said to Moon Mist as she approached, looking both pleased and surprised that she had come over to join them. He mulled her words over. "Same goals, different means... We're all creatures trying to make a living in the same world, then."But the idea of dire rats having gifts was certainly new, and every bit as strange as Moon Mist said it was. Ragnar's brow furrowed a smidge as he thought about what that might mean. The Grandfather Tree, granting these creatures gifts as if they, too, were like noulicorns? That meant that these rats had been afforded a level of protection by the tree that was certainly unprecedented. "You've traveled with one, then, noulja?" He continued, asking Moon Mist. "Would you say that you trust them?"

Elysia smiled at the doe, she seemed kinda awkward. Elysia wasn’t sure if it was because she was a dire rat or something else. But that seemed to be how it went here in Homewood. She glanced over at the drink vendor a moment and decided she’ll go check that out when she got a moment. She happened to notice that a familiar doe had walked up to the vendor and then there was another dire rat. First time she’d seen another of her kind in a while. OH! She was being rude. Her focus returned to the doe once again.
“Thank you. Sometimes climbing down the trunk is a little iffy. I prefer vines and rope ladders. I’m Elysia, what’s your name?” Tempest took a deep drink of the fruit juice, tart with a hint of sweet, refreshing! She’ll probably have to come back and visit this vender a bit later once she’s worked up a thirst. A dark brown dire rat had walked up causing the vendor to shriek but with joy. Tempest’s eyes had flown open briefly but she regained her composure, not that she had much of one. Quietly, even more odd of her, she watched the interaction between the two. After a moment Tempest couldn’t help herself.
“You’re the second dire rat I’ve seen. When did you arrive here in Homewood?” Tempest finally asked. “Oh and thank you for the fruit juice. It was really refreshing,” she commented to the vendor.WC: 246 Total: 771 Revel1984 Tempest to Millesime, Elysia to Whirra [quote="OneWintersNite]Tempest to Brownie

Brownie smiled shyly at Mille being able to tell that his tummy was talking. It was true though he had not eaten anything this morning. As if in answer to Mille's unasked question his tummy once again grumbled. "Ok ok ." He said looking down at his tummy. Moving over to the displace of fruit juice he tried a deep pale orange juice first. It was tart and make his lips smack after each sip. It made him smile at the sensation. "Well this one is tart, sweet, and citrusy smell." The beautiful lilac doe that had also been at the table trying some of the same juices had finally addressed Brownie. He kindly smiled at her and her question. He was always more then happy to talk about his story and answer any questions. How is had gotten here was a story for sure but he was not sure she would want to hear the long version. "A buck found me as a pup. He brought me back here and cared for me until I was full grown. I have lived a good portion of my life here in the Homewood." Yes that was the shortest version he could come up with. "Maybe you know the buck, Adahy?" he said as he thought he might have recognized the doe but he could not place where he might have seen her. As he waited for her to answer he moved over the another fruit juice. This one was a dark velvety purple. He took a small sip and his pallet danced will sweetness. "Yummy this one is good. Is it blackberry or grape?" he asked Mille. In juice form it was a little harder to tell. wc:285 [quote="Heavenly Snow']

Moon Mist listened quietly to Kachina, her prancing ended. It was nice to see Nouls who hadn't been out with Wanderlust voicing supporting for Homewood's new residents. She stared wistfully at the ground that was being tilled, but it seemed like it could wait. It wasn't time to move blossoms yet, at least. "I saw many strange things in the Barrens that were beyond my own explanation." She laughed lightly. "I think the rats may have been the least of them." A more serious expression crossed her face. "Now, I wouldn't say you should just strike up a conversation with some dire rat you find out in the desolation, but these few that've come to Homewood? They can explain their own motivations better than I can." Her gaze drifted to the few rats that were mingling with the celebrating Noulicorns. "Personally I don't find it all that different than a new familiar being awakened. Though I'm not sure Grandfather Tree is involved. We found strange ... crystals out in the Barrens that seem to be strange sources of power. But perhaps they are of Grandfather Tree." She ducked her head. "I don't run in powerful circles here, there are those who would know better." wc: 203 wc: 471

Kachina lessoned to Ragnar about his take on the dire rats. She nodded at his logical out look on cohabiting situation. She could also understand the apprehension on have them here after suffering an attack form their kind. "I could see why you would feel that way." She said with a nod. "But I would say that some of these dire rat, as new to area as the are, have been raised by the hoof of a noul. I heard that some pups had been abandoned during that big search for the Wanderlust and where saved for certain death. Maybe they could be different then the ones that had cause you and your family pain." She stated with hope that the future held better for the poor misunderstood creatures. The pale doe Ragnar had been watching came over and gave her thoughts about the dire rats as well. Kachina liked her wording for the dire rats being around "An awaking that is such a beautiful way of thinking of it all." She smiled at the doe. "And how wonderful that you have been able to spend some time with them as well." A surprised look crossed her face when the doe said that some had even been bestowed with Great Tree gifts. "How wonderful that even the Grandfather Tree wants them to be apart of the healing of our land as well." It reaffirmed them being be in her heart. "Oh and my name is Kachina. It is nice to meet you." She said to the doe not wanting to be rude. wc:262

Tempest gave the brown dire rat a wry smile. So that’s why he seemed just a bit familiar. Last time she saw this dire rat, he was tiny. The buck he referenced was one she recalled from Viltalta’s party who went in search of Wanderlust and their party. Tempest was part of the former. She nodded, “Yes, I know of Adahy. We didn’t really talk or have a chance too oddly enough. But we were on the same journey in the barrens. I know of four dire rat pups brought back, I just have seen any of them since being back. I only knew of the adult, Elysia, that has been around.” It had been some time since she had seen Elysia though. She quietly wondered what that dire rat doe had been up to since they’d returned. Hopefully she has been well.WC: 143 Total: 914

Obwain felt pretty amazing. It was hard not to when such a beautiful festival was changing the very air around them. There was an extra kick in his step as he wove in and around other nouls enjoying the festivities. Was he concerned about the rats? Not... particularly? It was strange, for sure, in the way that inviting your friend's friend's brother into a conversation was kind of clumsy and awkward. He didn't quite know how to approach them, or what he should talk to them about. What could a rat have in common with a noul? But if they were chill, he was chill. He was, however, interested in a conversation he heard in passing. A couple mares and a buck, talking about the rats' gifts. He listened for a second before he couldn't resist butting in any longer. "I think she said she saw evidence that they weren't of the Grandfather Tree," he corrected the brown doe. "Sorry. I couldn't help but overhear. You said you found crystals? Did anything happen with them?" He asked the grey doe. "Did anyone take them and examine them?"There was nothing about Obwain that made him too shy to stick his nose into someone else's conversation. "Perhaps they are different," Ragnar agreed, nodding his head. He didn't have the same level of trust as Kachina seemed to display in the dire rats, but he wasn't above finding out. If anything, his mind was already turning, trying to think of ways in which this new alliance could be of use in expanding the territories considered "safe" across Vykeli. "I think there must certainly be benefits to both us and the dire rats, if they have chosen to live among us. There is much we can learn from them, wouldn't you say?."All of this had him thinking, and it was clear from the way his gaze sometimes went distant between responses. What could have caused such a change in the dire rats? Some mysterious power must be at work, and Ragnar was curious to know what Vykeli had in store for them. "Beyond explanation, you say?" he continued, curiosity peaking as Moon Mist mentioned the Barrens. He might not have pegged her for an epic adventurer upon first sight, but the snippets she had dropped into this conversation seemed to suggest that the doe had seen some things that most other noulicorns had not. Terribly curious. "I have heard whispers that the crystals out in the Barrens were special. I would like to go see it for myself. What sort of power?"And then, another noul came to join them. Ragnar watched Obwain's approach in much the same way as he had Moon Mist's earlier, eyes flitting almost unbidden to the buck until it was clear that he was not a threat. He nodded in agreement. "A good point," he said. "These crystals would be a great subject of study if they are as strange and as powerful as them seem."

"Moon Mis-" She was cut off as the splashy buck stepped up. Bold. Awfully bold. But she couldn't blame him, this probably was the juiciest gossip happening at the festival. Moon Mist doubted that more important Noulicorns were openly discussing their feelings about the dire rats. Except Wanderlust requesting their inclusion. She shifted, feeling a lot of attention all on her. But these Nouls seemed to be her peers, not some wildly powerful Ascendants or Council Members. And it was true! She'd traveled and been there and seen it all. "While I'm not sure I'd call the journey wonderful, it was interesting. And hard. Very hard. Everyone knows that the Barrens are harsh, but to be out there day after day is ... something else." "But yes, there were crystals. We came upon a forest of strange, twisted trees. Some of our group were able to gather fallen crystals there. I was ... adversely affected by the forest, and didn't manage to find any. But soon after we found ourselves in strange caves below the sand, and confronted by some sort of crystal beast. We managed to defeat it, barely, and it shed crystals just like those of the trees ... I did manage to gather one of those." She smiled. "I'm sure the council is carefully examining them, but I've heard that the rats needs the crystals in order to access their gifts. That makes me question if they are of Grandfather Tree or not. But I'm no expert ..." wc: 247 wc: 718

With the murmur of a festival growing over Homewood Muse allowed her loving nature to grow ever so big knowing there was a gathering amassing. So many nouls out and about and dire rats?! She'd never personally met one past hearing they were dangerous and should be avoided. Being a foot tall would bring room for concern but, not to Muse. In fact meeting a dire rat would be something of a treat besides smelling flowers that were freshly growing throughout the woods.
Finishing up her routine of care taking gardens she made her way to the festival soaking in the bright colors, smells of treats and brews, just everything that caught her senses. Trotting she made her way up to the gather carrying the brightest smile she could muster. There was a definite sing song to her step and voice as she paused closing her eyes. So many scents filled her with curiosity she couldn't contain herself. She simply had to try everything while enjoying the festival while learning everything she could. Muse definitely wanted to meet a dire rat in person and prove they weren't all evil as the rumors made apparent.
Tossing her head as the shell necklace danced around her neck she called allowed, "Good Morning everyone".
Happiness was dancing within much like her watching the effervescent streams and brooks. Harmony sang aloud as happiness painted over everything. To Muse even the flowers seemed to sing as the plants swayed in the enchanting breezes. Once again she believed the sheer magic that flowed though Homewood was real and thriving. Fiontan was looking forward to the festival, after all those who live in the area went through in the recent weeks the needed to relax and enjoy themselves. He was uneasy even after all was well with the group. They returned and their mission was a success in some ways and a failure in others but all in all it was seen as gain to some and to others a small defeat. It all depended upon what happened to that said individual during the search. For him he lagged behind so far behind he was unable to catch back up to the others and he had a suspicion it was all due to that one dire rat. The one who singled him out and stared at him with those red beady eyes as if to size him up. He shivered at the memory of those eyes, those hideous eyes! He often wondered why but no answer would present itself so he tried to let it go and move on. The smells mingled perfectly together making his mouth water for something sweet and refreshing to drink. The farther he walked the more things he saw. Each turn of his head new things to be seen. Adorable foals dancing about within their Mother's line of sight, their giggling was heard on the breeze as if passed by. Adult Does were standing about in a semi circle looking around at the Bucks that was in the vicinity. He noticed one in particular was blushing as she gazed at one of the males off to the side oblivious to the gaze. Shaking his head he decided to wander over to the edge and lay down beneath a lovely tree in the cool shade and enjoy the sights around him for the time being. W/C: 300

Kachina watches as a new buck came over and corrected her earlier statement about the Grandfathers Tree involvement with the dire rats gift. "Well this maybe true in the way that we are give our gifts, all gifts are connected to the Great Tree in some form or another." She believed that with all her being. After all the Great Tree had made them. That it was interesting to her that it required this so called crystals to give the dire rats a gift. Betty lessoned to the group around her talk about the crystals and the potential learning they could do with them. She nodded her head in agreement. "These crystals are of great importance and interests." Has the group continued to talk, Kachina noticed a grey buckskin buck make his way over to a very nice place under a tree. The spot looked welcoming and cozy. "Well if you all will excuse me I can hear a shady spot under a tree calling my name. It was such a pleasure to mean all of you." She said with a small bow of her head and then walked over to the tree she could not wait to be relaxing under. As she approached the tree she called to the buck. "Hello. Is it ok if I join you under this beautiful spot." She stood before the buck hoping she was intruding and it would be ok to join him. The tree was truly wonderful and the grass below looked fluffy and soft. wc:253

Whirra glanced in the direction the dire rat looked, seeing another rat with the doe with the drinks, did the rat want a drink? oh nope, it had turned it's attention back to her. "Well.. uh.. we can't climb trees at all so i thinnk it's .. impressive" "Whirra" she replied, "nice to..meet you Elysia" she said, it was easier to talk the rat than it was to other nouls (69 words total for whirra) It wasn't until the doe from before spoke that Millesime remembered she was there and she was horrified at her lack of manners "I'm so sorry, i didn't mean to ignore you" she said, ashamed "You're most welcome, feel free to come back later" (44 words) Millesime watched carefully at Brownie's face when trying her juices, expressions could tell a lot and the smile at his first sip made her feel very happy "Yes! i made it with citrus fruits of varying ripeness, not too sharp, not too dull either" She'd turned her attention the doe, but back to Brownie when he sampled again, wondering why she hadn't really noticed him around since he'd said he had lived here but then she didn't know all of the Nouls of Homewood by name, and she did venture away at times too, to discover more things she could add to her drinks. "You're right!" she exclaimed "It's both, heavier on the blackberry but with just enough grape to give it an extra zing" she said, oh she LIKED this dire rat, a lot. Most didn't detect flaovurs, they just liked the drinks. (144 words) 188 words total for Mille
