Soleiyu couldn't quite shake the memory of Novus casually throwing a human, but it wasn't exactly easy to think of that creature and this one as the same. He could see cars in the distance, passing every now and then, and he wondered which one was bringing them food.
...He wondered if Novus would even like it.
But, there was something shamefully endearing about the youma trying to mimic his purr, or mispronouncing his name, or calling him friend.
Soleiyu should have been afraid, but he just purred and tried to butt at Novus again, nuzzling him.
"That's a lovely name, Novus. I'm glad to be your friend. We'll have food in a minute. If you like it, I'll have to get you more. Maybe we can meet up again and have dinner together sometimes."

Novus rumbled happily, oblivious to any trauma his actions might have inflicted. He was a monster, after all, but he was even more cruel than most of the ones that came out of the rift. Not that he knew that consciously: he just knew what he liked. This squishy pink things that sometimes tried to stand up to him were just fun, however they reacted to him, on top of their energy and starseeds being so addictive. And everything else about them being so very tasty. He wagged his massive tail, knocking over a gate. "Soyou and Novus meet again," he nodded his head eagerly, glossy eyes glimmering in the darkness with excitement and almost childish wonder. He saw a car approaching, snarling as it slowed and the driver, looking rather perplexed, attempted to deliver a pizza. Thankfully they had not yet spotted the dinosaur in the darkness. He was about to get one hell of a tip.

Soleiyu eyed the now toppled gate with a tense smile; he had no doubt that he was playing with fire but he’d rather like to imagine he had some control over which direction it burned--at least where he was involved. He was fast, but probably not fast enough to completely avoid Novus if things went south.
“You’re doing so good,” he praised. “We just have to wait a moment longer. And then we’ll get you that pizza.”
Did youma eat pizza? Were youma supposed to eat people at all?
“We’ll just stay still. He has instructions, he’s just supposed to leave it there. And then, when he gets in his car and drives away, we’ll go get it. It’ll be fun, like a game. You’re doing so good,” he praised again, because all he could think was that Novus might have been a monster, but he didn’t seem like he was trying to be evil. He mostly just seemed like a misled child.

Novus looked charmed and excited to be told he was doing good. It was not a thing he had ever heard before, though he often thought it to himself. To hear someone outside his own head tell him made him feel a fun sort of new kind of way that he rather liked. It made him excited and he wanted to run over to get this pizza, but did not want to break the rules of this game. So he waited, looking anxiously down the road as the completely oblivious delivery guy did as he was instructed. Unbeknownst to him, he survived a very harrowing encounter with a dinosaur, getting back to his car unharmed and starting the engine. He reached the turn at the end of the street when Novus just could not hold himself back any more and bounced toward the box left behind. "Is this pizza?! Pizza!" Novus chanted happily, not sure why he was so excited for it but never one to question his instincts. They had kept him alive so far, dodging senshi and knights that wanted to hurt him, but this was the first time he got to play with a kitty.

Soleiyu was just relieved that the pizza delivery man was gone and safe. “It is! Can you open the box?” he coaxed, but honestly he wasn’t sure if Novus wouldn’t just enjoy eating it, too. “You’ll find it inside. Like a treasure, inside a treasure chest,” he encouraged.
His tail was twitching nervously, and it was so hard to accept that Novus could be what the Negaverse wanted in a youma. He didn’t seem like he wanted to be hostile, and all the evil in him seemed brought about by ignorance more than anything else. Soleiyu wanted to look at him like he was a human, but he didn’t seem quite like that. Under it all, he knew there was a human, but this youma wasn’t bad.
Definitely seemed like he wanted to eat people and didn’t have any remorse for it, but it’s not like it was out of a malicious drive.
Just.
Hunger.
Or, animal instincts.

Novus flexed his clawed hand thoughtfully, then carefully tried to open the box. Failing that, he poked his claw through the top of it and lifted it up, holding the bottom with his other hand and managing to rip the top off without tossing the pizza everywhere. Eyes sparkling as he looked at the strange little pie, he took a big sniff and very nearly got the cheesy goodness stuck on his nose. "Treasure," he replied, as if tasting the word as much as he was enjoying the smell of the pizza itself. It struck a chord deep inside him, setting something off in the back of his very small mind that he had not felt in ages. He did not know what the feeling was, or why the word made him feel that way, but he liked it. He would have to investigate this 'treasure' concept more later. If he remembered. Which he wouldn't. Struggling, he shook the damaged box lid from his claw and then collected it from where it fell, using his claws again to carefully take a chunk of the small pizza, at least small to him, and share it with his new friend. He then promptly shoved the rest of it, and the bottom box, into his mouth. "Good!!!"

This would have been so endearing if Soleiyu wasn’t sure that Novus had just killed a woman--and who knows how many before that. He didn’t know how much food a youma could eat, or if it would even sustain Novus for long enough for him to stay out of trouble, but Soleiyu smiled up at him--as much as a Mauvian could.
“Good!” he exclaimed back and pretended to eat the bit that Novus had given to him. He took only a bite or two, but really, he hadn’t been that hungry to begin with.
“Oh, I’m so full! I can’t eat another bite. You should finish this for me so it doesn’t go to waste. And now that I know you like it, it means I’ll have to get more the next time I see you! And then you won’t have to eat, you know. People. Again. This is much better, don’t you think?”
...Even with the cardboard included, he hoped.

Novus was happy to finish the pizza, sniffing around for more but not finding anything left to eat. It was very tasty, though he would have to eat an entire day's worth of work from the poor pizza place if he really wanted to enjoy himself. Not that he knew any of the concepts behind where the pizza came from. He would just have to hunt down those cars and break them open for the pizza that came out, as he knew what the box looked like, and what the smell was. And maybe then he would not scare cute little fluffy things like this kitty by eating things he was not supposed to. It seemed fair enough to him, in his limited capacity to consider it all. Of course, if he remembered his plans beyond the lingering memory of the taste of the pizza was up in the air. He sometimes had a hard time holding on to thoughts, surprisingly. "Eat pizza," he said, with a firm nod. He could do this. He could remember this plan, and make this kitty his friend by doing what he seemed to like. Plus, he did not eat very much, so Novus would not have to be defensive of his new food if they met up again. "Friend Soyou. Meet again?" He knew if he stayed out too long, the sun would come up, and he did not want to get spotted by a bunch of humans. At least he knew better than to let that happen. He pointed in the general direction of one of the small wooded areas, though it was not actually in sight from where they were.

Soleiyu looked up at him, and a part of him was just absolutely horrified that he was considering this youma cute. Outwardly, he was a monster. Behavior-wise? Probably also a monster.
...Except, when he was asking to meet again, calling him friend, doing his best to say his name.
“We’ll meet again, yes,” he promised. “If I see you out again, I’ll come say hello. And we’ll get pizza again. But you have to be safe until then, okay? And make good decisions.”
If a youma could make good decisions, at least. He didn’t have much faith in the idea, and he should have been happy that he could at least guarantee he would make it home in one piece after this run-in.
...And yet, he just wanted to bring Novus more pizza, and make sure he didn’t get into trouble.
A more frightening thought that he could have been eaten was the thought that he might not have minded running into Novus again.

Kyuseisha no Hikari fin from the big dinosaur Novus gave the fluffy cat the biggest grin his toothy, nightmare of a snout could muster, nodding his head before stooping low suddenly. He leaned very close, slowing almost to a stop before gently, ever so gently, bumping his nose against Soleiyu's head and closing his eyes. He huffed a bit through his big nose, letting out a deep, rumbling sound that could have qualified as a purr. And then he was up and bouncing away, tail high behind him as he bounded down the road like the most terrifying dog ever seen. He was happy, at least, to have made an adorable friend. Of course, the discovery of pizza had also made his night. He would likely be dreaming of kitties and pizza all night. Though hopefully the idea of kitties on pizza did not enter his very small brain.
