The laptop surprised her, but Kibirev nodded, feeling a little silly with her own composition book and pens. “…Yeah see I…” She drew out the book and the pens, looking utterly embarrassed. “I would have never thought of bringing an actual laptop…you…obviously know what you’re doing. But…yeah! I’d love if we could do that. I could talk about Altea for days, I bet. Did…you know, she visited me once, I think. A few years ago around Halloween…”
She snuggled a little closer to him, resting her head against his shoulder once again.
“I had found this really pretty locket and decided to clean it up and put on the dress she gave me…and then like…her…her ghost or something came to talk to me…either that or that was the night I finally lost my mind completely…could be either.”
Kibi laughed softly, and withdrew a second notebook from her bag, handing it to Adria. It was beautiful, a dark purple with a shiny gold sun on it. “This one reminded me of you, so I got it for you, but…again…laptop makes so much more sense, and saves us from hand cramps.”

Adria paused; he had been typing as she spoke, jotting down notes about Altea and trying to capture Kibirev's thoughts as she shared them. His eyes fell to the notebook and he smiled warmly. "I usually bring a notebook," he confessed. "I like to doodle while I take notes and write down my ideas."
He reached for the notebook, turning it over in his hands and watching the gold foil catch the light. "...It's beautiful, Kibi. I love it, thank you. I didn't bring you any presents this time! You keep spoiling me."
He ran his fingers along the side of the paper, clearly fond of it. "...All of my best ideas go on paper first. But I type faster than I write, and since I wanted to capture your ideas, I thought this was best. Everyone has their own writing styles. I think...it's more intimate if you write it on paper, and it gives you more time to think about it. Unless the ideas are coming down like crazy, then sometimes I just speak into a tape recorder and transcribe it. But...that's all I'm doing right now. Transcribing. And getting to know Altea."

She grinned at that and nodded. “I’m glad that you like it. I don’t spoil you! I just think about you a lot. You’re one of my best friends.” Honestly, he was one of her very best friends. “Well, then I’ll keep talking about her…it’s easy to talk about her!”
Kibirev snuggled close and closed her eyes. “That’s a good idea…the tape recorder…but I don’t think I could stand to hear my voice! How embarrassing…”
It was nice to sit here, and she was so happy that he liked the notebook…she was happy for a lot of things about today. It was…wonderful here. ”I’m excited to find the place of my own…and I’m very excited for you to come visit it. When can we hang out again, Adria? Can it be often? I think it should be often…and we’ll work really hard to keep it secret from your brother…I don’t want him to yell at you.”
And she didn’t want him disappearing again…it would hurt far too much.

Adria smiled again at her. "Your voice is lovely, Kibi. I feel awkward listening to my own voice, but I do it with headphones in, so no one can judge me. And then after a while, when you hear all those good ideas you forgot? You're more proud of yourself for being so clever and prepared. Trust me. I'll teach you all about what I do when I want to write, if you want to learn. We can come up here often. I mean, I can't really make the trip often, it makes me really tired. But...when I get stronger, it'll be easier. And we can make regular trips."
It was something to commit to, something he could look forward to. Maybe it was her, maybe it was because he felt inspired, maybe it was the sunsets, maybe it was just being away from all of his troubles on Earth--whatever it was, he felt calm, peaceful. Optimistic.
"We'll make a habit of this. Nobody has to know, just us. It's a nice place to just getaway and relax and not worry about anything."
...He'd have to come here more often. And she'd be more than welcome to join him.
