Laz's own calming down helped bring Shah's nerves back to a more normal baseline, even if some part of it was just ignoring the problem in front of them altogether. They both needed some time to regroup and decompress.
Just think of this as a little vacation... yeah... maybe they could pretend enough.
Her ear flicked at the source of some movement and frowned slightly. Guess this place wasn't quite as abandoned of life as they'd thought... "It's probably an animal of some sorts... Could become dinner?"  It would become apparent as Laz got closer that the movement was coming from a little babby naga half-buried by refuse and leaf litter.
It made a small hiss at the big scary angel.

"Maybe" Laz commented as she moved closer to the source of the rustling sound
Upon finding a baby naga hissing at her that was half buried she jumped in surprise.
"Oh! oh dear a baby!" She frowned kneeling down near the little one and trying to carefully remove the decree from near it. Poor thing who would abandon a baby in a place like this? Was this the only survivor?
"I think you will have to find dinner else where Shah. I think this poor thing is probably starving,"

It'd be convenient if they could find a small boar or something in the area - she'd probably have to do all the cooking and cleaning, but maybe she could teach the kids about it in the process? She never had needed to actually pass down that knowledge...
But it didn't seem like things would be that simple. Scary naga was scary hissing at scary big thing! Gawr! It made little aggressive baby hisses and swipes as Laz cleared the stuff around it, obviously not understanding she meant no harm.
Life was hard for a newborn "Lazzy-boo... You say that... But I'm pretty sure that's a naga. One of those that attacked Venus' temple several seasons ago..." She wasn't outright saying it, but it was obvious she was strongly suggesting they just pretend they didn't see anything and move on.
In all likelihood, there was probably a crushed nest somewhere in these ruins. Either the thing's parents would return to take it back to the Dragnid, or... well... it wouldn't be here anymore either way. They had enough to deal with already, and there was no way they were going to be able to regroup in another village with one of them. The bug would be hard enough, but a snake as well... No way.

Laz was careful to not get hit by any of the swipes from the baby snake. As much as she wanted to pick it up the baby was obviously upset.
"Hmm that does seem right. Do you think naga eat fruit? we should still have some in my backpack."
Turning back to the baby she smiled and brought out her patented soothing baby talk voice "Hello little one, It's okay now." She started humming a lullaby hoping it would help calm the baby.
Whether she hadn't noticed what shah had implied or was simply ignoring it was hard to tell.

Aaaaaahhhhh... There is was. The classic 'Laz has already made up her mind and this is what we're gonna do' moment. If her implication was falling onto deaf ears (intentionally or not), there was nothing more to be done of it.
"You do know that bringing it back with us means we can't stay at another village, right?" She figured she knew, but just to get a verbal confirmation. She sighed and once more ran a hand through her hair. "Pretty sure they're carnivores, but it's not like anypae really knows what these things can eat. Want me to get it out?" The naga continued to eye the other one warily.

Laz frowned "I know but we can just leave it to die." It was just a baby a baby that was blue kind of like their kids!
"Yes please thank you shah." She smiled at the other glad that Shah wasn't pushing her to leave the baby.
Her kids would probably kill her oh well. They just got a new sibling and they would have to deal with it.
If it didn't eat fruit they would have to focus on finding meat or fish sooner than planed. They didn't know how long the baby had been without food after all.
If they couldn't go somewhere else they'd have to stay. Which was a problem with the way things where. At least there where a few building left standing. Laz was pretty sure the survival books she bought did not cover what to do in a situation where a town was destroyed.

I mean they couuuuuuuuuld...
But Shah didn't say this out loud.
Instead, she walked over beside Laz, offering her own wary glance to the tot, before opening up the backpack to pull out a little peach-like fruit. Who knew if these things could eat this.
The only worse thing that could happen at this moment is if those harpies happened to find her - she'd never told her boo about that bit of her life (for good reason). Moving on, it seemed they'd be here for a while... Guess they'd just have to make the best of it to bring in all the luxuries they'd come to love in the City here as soon as possible!

Laz took the fruit with a grateful smile before turning back to the baby.
Once again bringing out her baby talk voice the angle smiled at the little naga
"Are you hungry baby? I got some yummy fruit for you." She said as she slowly moved her hands closer to the baby.
She didn't want to scare the kid by moving to fast after all. Once she was sure the kid wouldn't panic (to much hopefully) she picked the baby up and settled them in one arm and gave the fruit to the baby.
"See everything is fine now little baby." Laz coo'd at the baby.
There was a lot of stuff they had to do. Name the baby, Get a seedy source of food. Figure out how they where going to fix up this town now that they had to stay. But it could be figured out later.
Right now getting back to the kids and getting some sleep was the most important thing.
