Affinity Solo - Sorcerer!
[336/300]
Liio was struck by the discussion he had with his sister while traveling to Zena, so much that he also picked up a few copies of the books she was studying. He was curious if he too would be able to use some magic, and once he got the thought in his head he couldn't get it out. Some might call him a little ambitious, well a lot ambitious, but he saw magic as a challenge and a skill that he could eventually own and be known for. To be so skilled in magic that the world knew his name was something that Liio found haunting him at night.
So, he began to dig into the books like he never did before. He found reading about magic somewhat refreshing, something he didn't have with other books. Unlike his sister who had a raw talent, he approached it with a focus and desire to just better himself unlike any of the other weapons he played around with. Swords were too awkward and made his wrist ache, and holding a shield made him feel like he was about to topple over. Trying to master the spear felt like he was about to dig it into the ground and fly across the space, and he tried to avoid speaking of it again with his father.
But books, and spell work, it all felt real and easy to manage. He could almost feel the sparks at his fingertips, the chill on his tongue, and the wind at his beckoning. Closing the book after another long session that was starting to become obsessive, Liio found himself without any more books to read. Maybe it was time to go purchase a few more, or steal some from his sister before she noticed. Or just trade them around...maybe even start a book club. He'd have to talk about it with Elna a bit more and see how she was doing...if they were both going to practice magic they might as well get started.

[ Liio has been reading a lot of books about magic but hasn't had any results. He is determined to find his own magic much like his sister, so he places himself in harms way to force it out ]
Liio threw the books off the table in a fit of rage, causing them to fly across the room and land in a heap on the floor. What was he doing wrong? He read the books and practices the techniques again and again, but no success had come. For the first time in a long time, he felt the green fingers of envy creep up his body - he was envious of Elna. He knew she struggled, but in his mind she had success where he only faced failure. And that caused him to grow angry.
What was he doing wrong? What was he missing? Why couldn't he summon magic when he felt so attuned to the art?
Liio stormed out of the home he was staying at while grabbing his jacket. The fur was warm and kept the Zena breeze from his cheeks, but he really didn't need it with how his rage filled him with an intense heat. So he continued to storm off blindly into the distance, his brain going back to the discussion he had with his sister in the lowlands of Sauti.
Magic appeared in many ways. Raw talent, dumb luck, and in times of duress.
He had tried two things, so why not try number three.
Liio found himself near one of the ice cliffs, and so he climbed. His mind was wild with frustration and ambition, and he wasn't thinking straight possibly from a lack of sleep and a strong desire for success. As he stood atop the cliff, he looked down at the 20 foot drop. It wouldn't kill him, but it would be enough to hopefully drive him to act out. Magic would appear, even if he had to force it out in fear and anger. Taking a deep breath, and in the back of his mind throwing a little prayer to anyone who would listen, Liio jumped.
The air flew through his hair quickly, and the ground came up faster than he expected. He didn't have time to think, or to react, but still he didn't feel the flow of magic or the energy. All he felt was fear. Was this a mistake, would he kill himself after all?
As he got closer an closer, what felt like hours went by in seconds before he felt like he was punched in the gut. Instead, it was a gust of magic that stopped him from slamming into the ground. Instead he was pushed into the snow, where he rolled and rolled until his cheeks were covered and biting with ice. When he finally stopped, he took time to gather his breath before he realized someone was standing over him.
"Are you an idiot or do you have a death wish?" Asked a grumpy voice of a man above him, looking down with a gruff glare. The man had a staff, and was clearly a mage.
His magic didn't save him, the mage did.
As the mage pulled him up to his feet, he demanded to know what Liio was thinking.
"I wanted to bring out my magic..." He mumbled like a lost child, before blushing when the mage laughed.
"Magic doesn't just show up because you forced it. It takes years to train, to bring out in unique ways. You want magic, go work at it. You'll get no where lazily trying to force it by jumping to your death. You'll only end up dead."
The mage brushed Liio off before stomping off, leaving Liio to bask in misery. As he headed home to take a bath and warm up, Liio finally decided it was time to talk to his sister. He couldn't force it, but maybe she could help him bring it out. He wanted it, and it was time he finally asked for help.
