"That sounds nice," Basyl said quietly as he tried to keep any lingering hesitance out of his voice. It would be good to know what his magic was capable of, just in case he did have any unsavory run-ins... If all this was happening in the city all the time, it was a wonder he hadn't experienced any trouble before. If the Negaverse and their monsters were running around pulling energy out of people, Basyl had to admit that he wasn't thrilled at the idea of being part of that unpowered.
But Narcissus wouldn't be powerless against them, he supposed...
So if Basyl came across something that didn't seem quite right, maybe he could do something about it, instead of just calling the police and hoping for the best.
Would he- Could he run away from a fight? Basyl had never been afraid of rising to a challenge. He didn't mind pushing himself. But neither was he particularly aggressive. He didn't like to cause harm and much preferred to alleviate it. That was the oath he was prepared to take, after all... 'Do no harm.' He twisted a long bang around his finger and then raked his hand back through his hair.
"It's a lot," he agreed in a whisper. "It's so much a lot..." And there was so much to try and learn and he had to juggle it with his studies and with his work. It did induce a bit of anxiety in him, to try and mentally sort through all this.
Maybe right now wasn't exactly the best time for it. He'd had a long day before all this had even started. Basyl shot Kelly a quick smile before he ducked his head. "Y-yeah, it would be great to get your number, I think. I'm pretty busy I don't even know when I'll really be able to..." He made a gesture with his fingers, twirling them helplessly through the air. "...With all this, but it might help if we could text whenever I had a few free minutes."

Kelly nodded and held out her phone, opening her contacts list to a new screen. “Here you go, put in your number and send yourself a text so that you have mine. I’m sorry that…that I’m…not as knowledgeable as I should be, but I…I know that I can help you better by at least bringing you to the people who know all of the answers…and…”
She managed a smile, feeling a little awful about bringing this nice guy into all of this because of her own dumb fear at the situation and her lack of confidence to do what had to be done to save the other senshi but…
But at the very least…she now had a new friend.
“You can text me whenever…and I’ll always be willing to go on patrols with you, I want you to feel safe in all of this…I think…it’ll be nice to go into this and have someone helping you…I…I did…I mean. I was kind of alone. Kind of, but the friend I had kind of never spoke to me again after a little while and…we kind of muddled through everything.” Kelly was talking quickly and finally bit her lip. “But that’s a whole other story, and you’ve had more than enough information tonight to keep your head spinning for a hundred years at least!”
She forced a grin now. “But, seriously. I’m here for you. I’ll be the best mentor that I can be, and…moral support! All the time! I promise.”

This was a good start. Basyl gave a clipped little nod as Kelly slid him her phone, and his gaze darted between its screen and his new friend's face as he collected the device between his fingers. This was a good start, he thought again, with all things considered. He should be so lucky that Kelly had found him before something else, and they had managed to keep anyone from getting disastrously hurt that night, despite the intentions of that other senshi boy... Basyl did wish that they didn't live in a world where danger like this existed- he hadn't even known that he had to wish for something like this!- but they apparently did, and this was probably the best case scenario because of it.
Narcissus could do something if he had to. Being a senshi didn't have to be bad, even if he might have liked more of an explanation for it.
Basyl tried to give Kelly a reassuring smile as he slid her phone back to her after the telltale ping! that emanated from his pocket. "You did help me," he replied. "It's better to..." His gaze wandered as he tried to find the words. "To know something than to know nothing. I'm glad you w-were there to bring me in."
He twisted at his hair near his ear and rubbed his palm over the dusting of stubble on his cheek. "And it seems like knowledge of this subject might be somewhat more challenging to come by, anyway... These topics are so foreign." And bizarre. "I'll try and text you when I think of anything specific to ask, and even if we can't, uh, patrol..." What did that mean? "together often or for more than a few minutes at a time, I'll l-let you know when I have a break from work or class so maybe we can meet somewhere."
He tried another smile. "I'm really grateful you'll be here, and you definitely know more about it than me, so I'll try to, uh, catch up, in that regard, I guess." He gave a little shrug.

Kelly smiled warmly at the male, pleased by the one he gave her and nodded, taking her phone back and holding it to her chest. “…It…it is a lot, and…please do. I’m sure the moment that we part I’ll think of all kinds of useful things to tell you, and I’ll feel so utterly stupid but…” She gave a weak shrug. “Patrolling is just a fancy term for going and walking around, maybe collecting some energy from people…and like…like what I was doing tonight. When I found you and the other senshi…”
She hesitated and winced slightly. “…You know, thinking about it, I feel kind of bad that we just…ditched him but…I suppose it can’t be helped. But, you stay safe okay? If you ever need me, don’t hesitate to contact me, text or call, I can find you pretty easily, that’s one neat thing about…about us. We can travel with mirrors! I can show you that the next time that we hang out if you want! It makes getting around the city super easy!”
Kelly’s face was suddenly animated as she thought about it and she nodded eagerly. “I’ll text you anything I can think of, and if you have anything specific, please text me.”
And she could figure out things to text him…if she talked it over with Leander…she could make Basyl a good guide to things.
Quickly, the girl jumped up. “I’m going to talk with my brother, and I’ll write you a guide of terms and things! I won’t fail you, I got you into this, and I’m going to work super hard to be effective in helping you, I promise!” And for once, she really wanted to. She was excited to be a mentor. She could do this.

"W-well, you know, whatever you think of, you can just text me," Basyl replied with a quiet laugh as he waved a hand toward Kelly's phone. Such was the benefit of exchanging numbers. "I may not see it right away if I'm at work or studying, but I turn the ring off when I'm busy, so it wouldn't be a bother, or anything, and I-I'd see it as soon as I was able... So it's not too much of a missed opportunity, and maybe things like this are easier to explain when written down, anyway." He tried another hesitant smile. "No reason to feel 'utterly stupid' about it."
He pinched at one of the last fries in the carton and twisted it between his fingers as he peeked at Kelly from beneath his bangs. She looked so young, just a sweet girl bouncing and chattering at a new friend. Basyl had felt overwhelmed almost immediately, but he wondered if for all Kelly's familiarity with the situation at hand, if she was prone to feeling similarly. It was a lot to take in at any point, and he didn't know who all she had by her side.
"Um, so if you ever want to talk about anything, even if it's not... this, you can contact me then, too. I can at least listen, if nothing else." He usually had time to at least listen, and that was better than nothing.
It felt like that offer was worth more than promising to try and go on patrols or learn to walk through mirrors or use magic... His hand slipped off the table and into his hoodie pocket to squeeze at the strange pen Chip had given him. Basyl just wasn't sure how often Narcissus deserved to be running amok when he still had other things in his life to figure out how to manage.
Kelly bounced from the booth, and Basyl rose to stand beside her, collecting the remains of his snack as he did. "Er, should I walk you home, or are you going to travel," His mind tripped. They surely shouldn't talk about all the nonsense they could do, if it could be helped. "Ssssome other way?" He finished uncertainly.
"I'll have to catch a bus, but I can make sure you get home first, if you want?"

Oh…oh that was really nice.
Kelly shook her head and beamed at the offer. “Nah, I’ll be okay getting home. I don’t live too far from here, and I don’t want you to get stuck without a bus or anything…I’ve already taken up so much of your night…and if you’re someone who is busy a lot…with studying and work…”
She felt a sudden wave of guilt and gave a little laugh. “I don’t want to keep you! But, the um. The offer to talk is there for you too, Basyl! I…I like having friends. It makes me happy and it seems like I never get to keep mine for long at all…and that…well.”
That just made her sad. Sometimes more than sad.
“It just sucks, so I hope that you and I can become good friends. And…you…just be safe. If you need anything, I’m always here. I promise. But, now…I’ll see you later! And I’ll let you know when I’m home safe if you do the same, okay?”
And with that, Kelly walked to the door and turned to wave at her new friend. Her new senshi recruit, before heading back out into the night, making sure to text the boy a cheerful ‘I’m home’, when she got there.
