Adam kept his wits about him. Moving carefully and methodically, he checked his surroundings making sure nothing takes their flank. Taking in the scenery, it looked like chaos. Like a disaster rolled through with the towns destruction in mind. Adam noticed movement in front of them no later than Azura's comms. "Hmm." he thought. Adam came to a whisper and said, "I don't have a blade on me. My guns might alert more Grimm to our position. I think it best I leave it to the folks with the blades." he said. He hated leaving all the work to them, but he couldn't risk giving up their element of surprise. "I'm gonna go buy a pocket knife or something." he said to himself. He turned his attention back to his environment making sure there was nothing they missed. So far everything checks out. "I'm gonna invest in some silencers or something." Adam let out a sigh of disappointment considering so many unfortunate events has happened. He was unless in pratically all of them. "I'm sorry guys." he said.

As the team made it to the gate and town, they would see the sorry state it was currently in. While their mission was set to be in advance of a suspected invasion, it almost seemed like one had happened regardless. Whether this was the after math of a prior one, or that they were too late, they could not tell quite yet. Various carts and vehicles lay in disarray on the streets; many of the homes had busted in doors and blood stains going into them. Smoke filled the air as they could see the source of the fire; a few of the wooden buildings had seem to have caught it as it was slowly beginning to die out thankfully. The one thing they hadn't seen yet though was bodies nor people, for the moment at least. With bikes safely parked to the side, as safe as they could be, they would enter a bit deeper past the gates. It seemed the first building to greet them was close to a cathedral of sort, though it hardly looked regal or nice. In many spots the stone had been damaged and torn away, with the tall double doors seeming to be heavily barricaded. Perhaps there were survivors in there? If they didn't choose to go that way, the road would go to the right and left of it deeper into town.

But that may be a problem for the future as right now they had bigger issues. Being rearguard, Azura would spy four boarbatusks headed to the town; and by extension to them. They didn't seem to notice them immediately; they could still try to hide in cover of the wreckage here for ambush if they had the chance. However, they would not. A loud howl would be heard from nearby in one of the abandoned buildings as it sensed some negativity from the group; bursting through the broken window of a building directly onto Cecil and pinning him to the ground. Unfortunately, as rear guard Azura hadn't been able to see it with the groups formation. The boarbatusks, alerted by the howl, would begin to charge and roll to the group. Two were headed for Adam, one for Azura, and one for Ridley. What would the group do?

If not stopped, the boarkbatusks would try to run the team over while the beowolf would be trying to bite down on cecil's head/ neck.

((Clear out the Grimm, Find any Survivors))

Cecil continued to walk along with the team; Him, Adam, and Ridley on point with Azura behind them all to keep an eye on their 6. This town looked mostly in ruins with blood staining the walls while the smoke of the village seemed recent. He was glad to leave his bikes near the entrance of the town before his eyes caught the cathedral nearby. He brought a hand up to the earpiece as he spoke to Azura. "Azura, we found a Cathedral, it looks like it was heavily barricaded considering the windows are boarded up and the door looks a bit damaged. There could be survivors on the inside so we need to secure an exit route." He told her via the Earpiece and Ridley and Adam through person and earpiece. However, just as he finished his observation his tense feelings got the better of him as he heard a loud howl. He turned just in time to see the beast leaping from the abandoned building as he was knocked to the ground. His aura was thankfully up to protect him, the air around him having grown ice cold as he was thankful he was pinning him down by his main weapon arm and torso. As it reared it's head up, he swung his left arm up and summoned a long handle in his left hand. And just as it was beginning to try and chomp down, a long, thin-blade appeared just in time for Cecil to strike.

He didn't get a fatal blow, instead he clipped it's skull a bit around the snout and caused it to leap away, holding it's snout in pain while he got up. He was weilding an Oodachi in his left hand, rather unwieldy but he knew how to make it work as he got up and adjusted it. He pressed the shaft of the handle against his side, clamping it close with his elbow as he was holding the weapon in a way one would with a bo-staff. His rapier back out and drawn in his right hand as he pointed at the beast. "Adam! Those Boarbatusks are going to mow through the town if we don't stop them. Make sure that none hit the church at least! Ridley, follow suit and keep those boars from causing any more collateral damage!" He shouted, helping to come up with a base-line strategy that Ridley could build upon while he charged at the Beowulf. He was thrusting forward with his Rapier, causing the wolf to jump back and evade before lunging at him. Cecil adjusted the grip on the Oodachi and had the blade pointed to the beast before he swung quickly, swiping at it as he slashed the tail of it off when it chose to retreat. It howled in pain while Cecil looked to the strange blood on the blade of his Oodachi. He looked back at the beast before returning to his previous stance, shaking the blood off the blade.

With a slight swish of her head, dark locks tumbled over ivory skin. It was a a subtle gesture, but it was not as casual as it seemed. Rather, it was a carefully planned movement, one that masked the soft features of her face to conceal the way arched brows pinched together and full lips pressed into a tight line at the sound of concerned voices echoing all around her. One might mistake the look for one of anger, but one glance at her golden hues, brimming with regret, burning with shame, would give her away. She often masked her emotions with anger, because sometimes that was easier than facing the truth. It was easy to angry. At the cruel twist of circumstances that she never really had the power to control. At her brother, for his existence, for tormenting her, for being able to creep so easily back into her mind after all these years. At herself even, for not being strong enough or clever enough. For succumbing to a coma, for not being able to stop that boulder from playing bumper cars with her skull. For not being able to get the plague that was Zander out of her mind. It was easy to yell, to curse, to stomp. It was harder to be vulnerable, was harder to face what she was really feeling, harder even to accept it. The shame she felt at having been taken down so easily, the regret she felt at having left her team to fend for themselves, the fear that she might do it again, despite her best intentions. That sinking feeling in her gut that she let them down and now rather than worrying for their own well-being in the face of danger, their attention was divided. That sour taste in the back of her mouth, the bile burning her throat at the thought of them getting hurt on her account. Golden orbs closed, dark brows furrowing. It was in that moment she decided she wouldn't let that happen. When her eyes opened once mire, more, were burning with a different kind of fire, bright with determination. Delicate fingers reached up, tucking raven strands back into place. "Careful? Careful is my middle name." Ridley called over her should, winking playfully. The statement was the farthest thing from the truth, and yet, an entirely classic Ridley perhaps, which perhaps was more reassuring than anything else she could have said or done. Besides, what was she if not their reckless and all too sarcastic leader.

Reckless as she might be, she also wasn't entirely irresponsible. Sure, she was the first to jump into a dangerous situation with impossible odds and yes she had a daunting disregard for her own well-being... She would even admit to being a bit of a thrill seeker, but this wasn't just a bit of fun and it wasn't only her life at stake her, so despite the playfulness of her response, the dauntless leader approached with caution. Booted feet stepped carefully over the rubble, her amber gaze alert as it scanned their surroundings. Her hands hovered over the hills of her twin blades sheathed at her hip, ready to draw them at the slightest sign of danger. Boots crunched over broken glass as she stepped further into the village. Smoke lingered in the air, burning her nostrils and stinging her eyes. Her heart dropped as she took in the devastation before her, a cold pit forming in her stomach. They were supposed to be here to get these people to safety before the village was attacked, but looking at the place... it seemed they might be too late. The streets were barren except for the remnants of broken carts, littered with the debris of damaged buildings and shards of glass from shattered windows. Her breath caught in her throat as her eyes landed on the cathedral, just moments before Cecil reported it back to Azura. The building was far from majestic. It was old, shabby, the wood withered and the stone falling away in places, giving way to the foundation. It was dark and eerie, but even so, it might just have been the most beautiful sight she'd seen thus far. The windows were all dark, but the huge wooden doors seemed to be barricaded. It was too soon to say for certain, but it left room for the possibility of survivors. She dared not let herself hope... there was too much blood to allow herself that luxury. Scarlet smeared across walls and splattered across stone, pooling in the dirt in thick, sickening puddles. Even if there were survivors to be saved, the damage was done.

Adam's voice drew her from her observations and a moment later her right hand flew to her side, drawing a large hunting knife she had strapped to her thigh. Ridley would never reach the level of preparation that was Azura, but she'd learned long ago to not go on a mission without at least one spare. In fact, in her first mission at Beacon one of her blades had been nabbed by a big bad Tribe member, and since then she'd always brought at least one extra along on quests such as these. Flipping the knife expertly in her hand, she grasped the blade gently, extending the handle towards Adam. "Don't say I never gave you anything." She said with a wink, full lips twitching into a smirk. The playful expression lasted for the briefest of moments before falling flat. It wasn't unlike the girl to joke and tease in the face of danger, but now was certainly not the time to let her guard down. Perhaps it was just the horror film scene they were traipsing through, but she had a bad feeling about this. Such a feeling that was confirmed just moments later when Azura alerted them of the boarbatusks up ahead. Mind whirring, Ridley began thinking through their options, They still had the advantage of stealth. They could play it safe, hide behind the wreckage and scout out the rest of their surroundings before they engaged. "Get down! Stay out of sight." She hissed at Cecil and Adam through the earpiece. "We'll scout--" The elaboration of her plan was cut off as an earsplitting howl ripped through the air, piercing the silence with its savage tones. Ridley whirled around, dark locks whipping through the air around her, but the beowolf had already launched itself at Cecil. Golden orbs lingered on her teammate just long enough to make sure Cecil wasn't in for a messy decapitation, but the sound of stampeding feet was pulling her attention to other problems. "Defend the church at all costs," Ridley agreed through gritted teeth, metal winging as she unsheathed her dual swords. "Azura, take out the third and keep an eye out for any others."

Black boots planted firmly on the ground, an onlooker might wonder if this dark haired huntress was actually insane. Closer and closer the the boarbatusk charged and she had yet to so much as flinch. Crazy as it might seem, there was a method to her madness. Golden eyes gleamed as she waited, and waited still, until it seemed she might actually let the beat trample her. It was it the last possible second that she ducked. Using her size to her advantage, she dived right between the creatures muscled legs, dodging dense hooves. As she passed beneath it's underbelly, she reached out with one of her blades, slashing at the tender tissue now exposed to her. Skidding through the dirt, she popped out on the other side of the grim. Without wasting a moment the girl launched herself to her feet and into a sprint. The boarbatusk was much larger it would take it much longer to redirect it's momentum, which once again gave her the upper hand. Now, normally she was against attacking an enemy behind, somehow it seemed far less deplorable when it was a mindless beast that feasted on the fear of innocent people. Both blades raised in front of her, Ridley charged the beast, using her speed to leap and propel herself into the air. Wind whipping past her, causing her golden eyes to water slightly, she plummeted towards the creatures back. as she fell, she drove both her swords downwards, intending to impale them both through the creatures back. The quicker she took her own target out, the quicker she could get onto helping her team. She let them down one two many times and she had sworn to herself she'd make up for it today.

                                                        ⋯⋯⋯⋯⋯⋯⋯⋯⋯⋯⋯⋯⋯⋯⋯⋯⋯⋯⋯⋯⋯⋯⋯⋯⋯⋯⋯⋯⋯⋯⋯⋯⋯⋯⋯⋯⋯⋯⋯

"That's a good sign." Azura answered softly into her comm. Maybe they weren't too late after all. Arriving to see the town already in flames was unpleasant, though she wasn't the type to feel guilty over it. They had left as soon as they were able and used the mode of transportation provided to them. Guilt wasn't logical. However, there was relief that there were likely survivors. Death was all too common and Azura was happy to save even one person's life. If only Cecil could read her thoughts, he'd probably sigh in exasperation that she couldn't apply the same logic to receiving a compliment or any sort of public attention.

Azura wasn't the most socially adept, but even she could hear the disappointment in Adam's voice, as he proclaimed he was useless in dealing with the boarbatusks. Her rifle was hardly silent and a blade the size of her scythe hardly stealthy, but she didn't think such a comment would be helpful in this situation. "Surely a solid punch to the boarbatusks would be as effective?" She asked out loud. While trying to come up with something helpful rather than over-analytical, Ridley stepped in by handing Adam a knife. A problem for later than.

They would never find out the rest of Ridley's plan. A howl that could only belong to a beowolf echoed behind her, causing Azura to spin on her heels, ready to fire Crimson Regret. She fired once at the creature which had flung itself from the window of a hopefully previously abandoned building. Her first instinct was to help Cecil, but she knew Ridley was right. Cecil was a huntsman. They needed to protect the helpless inside the church. "On it!" She pushed the button on her rifle, transforming the weapon into scythe mode while she spun around to face the boarbatusks. Their death roll would deflect even her high-velocity rifle rounds. Slaming the scythe tip into the ground, Azura quickly exchanged the normal rounds for the magazine on her belt holding her two earth rounds. She fired both just in front of the boarbatusks, hoping the explosions of stone would enough to knock the creatures out of their rolls, and even stun them a little if she was lucky.

                                                        If she was successful:
Seeing the stone had successfully stopped the creatures in their tracks, Azura would pick up Crimson Regret and begin running towards them, joining Ridley in melee combat. While she ran, Azura ejected the now empty magazine and replaced it with the regular high-velocity rounds. Once she reached a boarbatusk neither Ridley or Adam had gone for, she would twirl the scythe around, aiming for the blade to come up under the beast's belly.

If they break through the Earth dust:
Time for plan B. Without missing a beat, Azura would activate her semblance. Inspired by their recent volcano mission Azura focused her illusions on the four boarbatusks rolling towards them and the church. The creatures would see a large lavafall flowing down into a chasm just in front of the church. There would be certain death for the creatures if they continued to roll directly for the church, or at least she hoped the beasts would think so. She added the smell of sulphur she remembered so well, and wish she could add the blazing heat they had all endured, but she hadn't yet mastered the ability to add sensations like hot and cold yet. Still, hopefully, it was enough to make them think better of their current trajectory.

"Careful's your middle name? If that's the case then my name is Agnus." he joked. It was great to hear her joke and see her smile. Funny and a great leader she was, but careful she was not. With their eyes still on the boars he couldn't help but to kick himself because he had nothing that was useful to the team. Until Ms. Thing pulled through. Handing Adam and hunting knife, he couldn't help but to feel gratitude. He took it happily and flipped it around a few times to test the balance. "And what am i suppose to do with this toothpick?" he smiled as he pretends to pick his teeth with it. Before he could continue his meager comedy act, things got active and they had to do their jobs. Two boars were homing in on Adam. They curled up and rushed Adam. "We'll talk later!" he said as he took off towards the boars. Placing the handle of the knife in his mouth he charged harder towards the boars before a thought crossed his mind, "What am I gonna do when I get to 'em?" Idiot. A small lightbulb flickered above his head. It's not gonna be the smartest idea, but dang it it was an idea! He had to time it perfectly. Adam gracefully jumps and runs midair. "Come on, come on, come on, come on, come on, come on!" His feet makes contact and he immediately tries to balance while running on the boar. It was a bit shaky at first, but he manages to find a rhythm.

Adam controls his breathing as he runs atop the rolling boar. "1,2! 1,2! 1,2! 1,2! Yeah! Now you gettin' it!" he laughed through the knife in his mouth. Proud of finding the rhythm it brought him back to the task at hand. "Oh yeah!" he tapped his head. He slightly turned his body to influence the course of the boar to run into the other and knocking them off course. Nearing the other boar they started to grind against each other making an awful noise and an even worse smell. He steered his boar further into its counterpart before setting them on a course away from the church and into a tree. Jumping off of his ride he skid to a halt griping the ground with his finger and applying pressure to the balls of his feet. "Welp, I just wore my shoes down tuh hell." he said catching his breath. He broke off into a sprint just in case the boars opened upon impact. If the boars opened up while they were dazed TOTO would kick one over exposing its belly. He'd use the momentum flipping himself back onto his feet before pouncing on the other and lifting it over in a suplex. Lodging the tusks of the boar trapped in his arms into his counterpart successfully killing it. Using the lodged boar as a support he flipped his body over once again onto his feet. With it still helplessly stuck in place, Adam held it by its leg and quickly drew the knife from his mouth and stabbed its abdomen ending its life. "Ok, let's see here." Adam said as he stuck his finger in his mouth. He he removed his finger and held it to the wind. "Hmm, yup. Everyone should be just about finished!" he said as he turned to see the slain Grimm. He smacks his lips a few times before scowling. "I had my hands on those things!" he said before quickly spitting and wiping his tongue with his shirt vigorously.

Only Hope
𝒯𝑒𝒶𝓂 Dark

⋯⋯⋯⋯⋯⋯⋯⋯⋯⋯⋯⋯⋯⋯⋯⋯⋯⋯⋯⋯⋯⋯⋯⋯⋯⋯⋯⋯⋯⋯⋯⋯⋯⋯⋯⋯⋯⋯⋯

While an ambush was sprung, the members of team Dark were quick to act given their long experience at the school.

Cecil:
Having pinned Cecil, and avoided the shot from Azura's sniper by accident, the beowolf hadn't expected a weapon to materialize out of thin air from its prey. Howling in pain as it clipped its bony snout and forced the grimm to jump back in surprise. In his retreat, the grimm noticed its prey rise and take out another weapon. Cecil making sounds as it pointed one to it; keeping the grimm at bay for the time being. A brief altercation would occur between the two; the grimm getting wounded in the tail in the process as it roared. The black substance that made it up oozed on the blade before being discarded as it looked to its prey. It was wounded, but it was not out of this fight yet. Not by its own account at least. It would charge again, but it had learned after its failed one; rather than commit to the charge, it would at the last moment spring to cecils left rather than go straight for him. Aiming to catch him off guard so it could get his flank; trying to catch him off balance as it would go to bite him arm. Its goal was to wrench him to the ground with that, and potentially drop one of his weapons, before trying to shred him with its claws.

Azura:
The boarbatusks were bearing down quickly as Azura worked on her plan of action. Two of them were closely grouped together and headed to what seemed like Adam, one to her which was also close by, and the last seemed headed to Ridley was a bit separate from the others. Impaling the scythe to the ground, swapping rounds, and taking her shot she would see it almost perfectly work out. It managed to stop three of the boars cold in their tracks as they slammed into the earth wall; cracking it and almost breaking, but the walls held true. However, the fourth had managed to just barely skirt around it and continue on to it's intended target; Ridley. Azura would, however, note an unfortunate side effect to her plan; Adam hadn't reacted in time to the sudden earth-dust wall, and had slammed into it face first as it arose. Just before he was going to go with his plan to run on top of one of them. His aura held for the hit but...it didn't look like a nice one. Still, she had the edge for springing this trap and she knew she had to take it. As she rushed in for one of the stunned ones, she would manage to sink the scythe into its stomach before it could even turn to react; using the sunk in blade to cut the creatures stomach open with a wide incision before pulling it out. It would let out a high-pitched squeal as it dissolved to dust from the large wound. However, the other two were now recovered and slowly turned to face the human. While a little bit away given they were headed for Adam, giving Azura a few precious seconds to plan, they were intending to close the distance quick. One would immediately charge to her (normal run aiming to get her with its tusks) while the other would lag a little behind; aiming to time an attack just after the other to try and overwhelm her. What would Azura do?

Ridley:
The grimm had only seen a target in mind, assuming it had accepted its fate or was too surprised to react, and so it did not change course or suspect anything as it charged you with the intent to run you into the ground. The least it expected was for the human to dive underneath to get passed it; managing to avoid trampling as her aura absorbed the random impact from going underneath. The grimm felt pain from its underbelly and squealed as it tried to put on the brakes with Ridley exiting behind it. But with all its momentum and bulk, it was slow to stop and was skidding a bit. Giving Ridley enough time to launch a counter attack by running after and jumping to land on it; it slowing down to try and face her helping facilitate the attack. One of her twin blades would land true, sinking into the creatures back but not deep enough to be a kill shot. The other would hit bony plate and abruptly twist in her hand as it was deflected; threatening to injure her wrist if she held onto it. Black dust would smoke out of the wound to her face and a black ichor leak from it onto her hands. Her blade that penetrated would seem to get stuck inside as the boar shrieked again and went wild. Bucking and running, taking her with it if she held on, and trying to shake her off. It would make a beeline for the church, running besides it and slamming its back (the side Ridley was on) against the walls of it as it did to try and get Ridley off. What will she do?

Adam:
Adam, in your focus to just go for what felt right and react, you did not notice Azura fire the earth dust. It came out of nowhere, and rose too high to be jumped over. You got your aura up in time to help brace yourself...but it was still a hard hit since you ran into the wall. A bit dazed, but otherwise fine, you can hear the fighting going around you. Seeing Azura charge forth while Cecil and Ridley were locked in their own battles. However, you would notice something else from your...crash. Half buried in the earth, having been unearthed a bit from the earth dust, seems to be the shaft of something. What will you do? (if you go to pull out the thing, DM me and I will tell you what it is)

Cecil was glad that Ridley decided to follow with his idea of defending the church at all costs, and considering how boarded up it was, it was highly likely whoever remained was inside of it. He was also glad that Azura didn't try and assist him as he was able to fend off his attacker so quickly, wielding both his weapons he was studying the opponent as best as he could while Adam began to ride a Boar like a mad-man. Each of them handled a grimm in their own way as he couldn't escape the Beowolf as it soon lowered itself and began to charge at Cecil once more. He thought it a fool's errand and braced himself as he used the Oodachi to try and stab, the handle going along his forearm as he thrusts it forward but he noticed something off. Despite the reach advantage he had, the beast got faster and sprung off to the left, with the weapon he had stabbing out and his eyes followed suit to see where it went. It lunged at him, as Cecil tried to counter and overpower to swing with the Oodachi, but it bit down on his aura covered arm, causing Cecil to grit his teeth before he grunted in pain. He tried to hold his ground before he was wrenched down, and in a panic he was locked down with the Oodachi unavailable to him.

He shook his head, trying to calm his nerves before he felt a sudden claw scratch at his back, the aura covering it at the last moment to avoid deep lacerations and it getting to his spine as he winced. He soon loaded a quick Ice Dust Shard round into the Reiterpallasch as it transformed, replacing the flintlock pistol round with an ice shard as he aimed the gun at the beast's skull. A second claw came down and hit his aura once more before he pulled the trigger. "GET OFF OF ME!" He shouted as a blue ring appeared around his left eye, his semblance becoming a bit volatile as he activated the dust to try and blow back the beast by shooting near it's eyes and trying to freeze them to blind and or stun it. If it worked, he'd pull away back to a stand, dropping the Reiterpallasch to grasp the Oodachi as he dashed back in to try and bisect it with the Oodachi using both hands to compensate that his left arm could be damaged through the aura from the bite force of the Beast.

Golden hues gleamed victoriously, a wry smile as she landed upon the beast. Adrenaline pulsed through her veins like a white-hot flame, pushing her heart forward in her chest. It thrummed with exhilaration, beating in time with the trampling hooves of the monster she'd attempted to conquer. Her breaths rushed from her lips in elated bursts as the wind tugged her dark locks from their braid until they streamed out behind her in a tangle of raven vines. She felt alive, like herself. Smiling in the face of danger like this wasn't life or death, but rather the most exciting game. A game she was about to win, or so she thought. She felt her left blade sink into the boarbatusk's back, the second however ricocheted sharply of a bony plate. A soft yelp ripped its way through her teeth as the force of the impact twisted her wrist sharply, shooting pain through to her elbow. Pale fingers were quick to release the the hilt before the pressure snapped her wrist and a sour taste filled her mouth as she heard the blade clatter to the ground. The missing sword was only half her problem. Her brilliant, albeit extremely reckless, plan was quickly turning on her. The grim was quickly picking up speed, its back end bucking up and down in an attempt to shake her off. Her grip on her second blade kept her from flying off the creature's back, but that was exactly her problem. The blade was stuck, buried in layers of tissue, sinew, and muscle. To make matters worse, the grim was rapidly approaching the church and Ridley had a pretty good idea of what it would do once it reached the stone walls. Cursing under her breath, the huntress did the only thing she could, abandoning her only other weapon, she lunged from the boarbatusk's back before she could become a Ridley and Rumble pancake. Twisting to her side midair, she landed roughly on her side. Her aura absorbed some of the impact, but it could only do so much. She absorbed most of the impact through her hip and shoulder to avoid shattering wrists or ankles. That didn't mean she would come out of it unscathed. In fact, she was almost sure she could feel her blood vessels breaking and the blood coagulating into a nasty bruise. Her momentum caused her to skid across the ground, dirt, rocks, and shattered glass tearing into her clothes and biting into tender flash. Pearly teeth clamped down on berry colored lips, forcing back the whimper of pain threatening to escape.

Golden orbs fluttered shut, nostrils flaring ever so slightly as she sucked in a large breath of air. She gave her self a moment, but only a moment, and then that golden gaze was flashing as she analyzed her situation. The grimm was several feet away from her now, but it wouldn't take the creature long to realized its prey had fled its back and was still, very much alive, if not a little banged up. Her options were sparse and her chances were looking rather grim. Even so, the dauntless leader spared a moment to ensure the rest of her team was still managing okay. Okay might have been a relative term. Cecil was still struggling with the beowolf, Adam seemed to have take quite the fall, and Azura had two more boarbatusks bearing down on her. Grimacing slightly, dark brows furrowed, the skin between crinkling with frustration. There was a pit forming in her stomach, but there wasn't much the girl could do for her teammates, not while they were so far away, not without her weapon, and not while their was another boarbatusk nearly upon her. Not much... but there is something. A determined smirk was curling at the edges of her lips as she pushed herself to her feet with a soft grunt. She knew she couldn't use her semblence on all of the boarbatusks at full capacity, but she didn't need to fully incapacitate them. She just needed to distract them long enough to give herself and her teammates a chance to strike back. Focusing on her left arm and right leg, she thought back to the time as a child when she had fallen out of a tree and busted the bones in her arm and leg. She remembered the excruciating pain she'd felt as the bones shattered. She remembered the agony as the bones in her leg ripped through her the tender flesh of her leg. She remembered the savage way those shards twisted inside her with every movement. A slight golden glow surrounded her as she focused it on that pain, and reached into the grim, afflicting that pain on them. Physically she couldn't stop them. Their bones weren't really broken. They could still move, run. However, perhaps the pain would be enough to buy herself and her team a few extra moments.

A few spare moments bought or not, that didn't change the fact that the girl was still left without both of her weapons. She could run for fallen sword, but it had skittered several feet away. She might make it, or she might instead be skewered by the tusks of the beast. Golden orbs scanned her surroundings, desperately looking for something, anything. When she spotted it, even she couldn't help but wonder if she was possibly insane. However, in the moment, it seemed like her best option. Diving towards the ground, she would scoop up a large shard of glass from a shattered window, wincing as the edges bit into her palm. Rolling to the side, she would using her momentum to push her to her feet and then forward into a sprint. She had no option but to get in close, the piece of glass was the size of a large knife, but didn't give her nearly the reach her twin swords did. Gritting her teeth, she braced herself as she faced her enemy head on. She would only have a moment to strike, a moment to get out of the way, or else she'd be trampled. Eyes flashing dangerously, Ridley raced the glass shard in front of her, swiping down roughly towards the creature's head, she summoned every ounce of strength she had into the blow, aiming for the creatures head. She wouldn't stick around to see if she was successful. As soon as the glass made contact, she released her grip and dove to the left. The hasty dodge didn't give her much time to worry about a graceful landing, so instead she tumbled to the ground, rolling a few times before she came to a stop. Breathlessly pushing herself to her feet, she would peer out from behind dark locks to once again assess her situation and determine whether or not her life was in immediate danger.

Azura mentally winced when she saw Adam run straight into her barrier of earth dust. Her primary objectives, defending the church and knocking the boarbatusks out of their death rolls, had been achieved. However, there had been unintended consequences of harming her teammate. "Sorry, Adam!" Azura shouted as she ran towards the stunned boarbatusk. Twirling her scythe around, she felt the blade dig into the creature's underside. With a sharp pull, she sliced it open, and shortly after it dissolved into ash. One down. "Are you okay?" She called out to her teammate. She hoped he had gotten his aura up in time, but the cracked wall of rock was currently blocking her view of Adam.

If he wasn't, first aid would need to wait. The two boarbatusks turned towards her, probably a little bit miffed about the rock wall, if Grimm could feel such emotions. She didn't know if backup was on its way. Had Ridley and Cecil defeated the grimm they were fighting? Had Adam recovered? Her eyes glowed azure, her pupils seeming to vanish as Azura activated her semblance. This was a rather simple illusion that she inflicted upon both of the Grimm. While the real Azura stepped to the right and then forward, it would appear to the Grimm as if she hadn't moved, and was instead holding out her scythe in preparation to fight the boarbatusks head-on. Azura's illusion symbol appeared on the chest of the copy. While they charged forward, Azura would twirl her scythe, once more going for the belly of the second boarbatusk, while the first passed through her illusion. The reasoning for going after the second boarbatusk was simple. If it saw the lead one suddenly get sliced out of thin air it may panic and charge to the right....where she was standing. This way the lead wouldn't witness what happened to its companion and give her time to react.

"S...ry, ...dam" was what he heard. His mind was in a bit of a haze. He was kissing the ground and his face stung. He took damage? When? How? The last thing he remembers was trying to ride atop a Boarba-oh. His blurry visions reveals and earthen wall in front of him that sustained some damage. He could piece it together from there. "Looks like I did something stupid again." he weakly muttered as his senses were coming back to him. "It's ok, Azura. I deserved it." As he tried to push himself up he felt something lodged in the dirt. A metal shaft protrudes from the ground. No doubt uncovered by Azura's brilliant earth wall. It was a shame, but no surprise, that Adam was on the business end of it though. Taking a deep breath and stabilizing his vision, he stands and unearths the metal object. Turned out to be something very, VERY useful considering he lost the knife their team leader gave him. "Huh. Lucky." he said gripping the weapon. His eyes land on the Boars beginning to engage Azura. Before acting, Adam noticed they weren't on a course for her. She was positioned to their left yet the continued forward. It seemed like they were under the influence of her semblance. Perfect. He observed a bit longer before acting realizing she was gonna pick off the one in the rear. He closed in on the second Boar as she sliced into its belly. Jumping into the air and bringing the hammer over his head, he attempted to land a blow as well. Hopefully the blunt force and his strength would prove useful in eliminating this monster.

He lands on his feet after flipping over the shaft of the hammer. He gathers himself once again and scans the battlefield. The other Boar charged forward, probably still under the effects of the illusion, giving him a chance to assess the area. Immediately his eyes lock onto Ridley. Armed with a large shard of glass she rushes the monster. How much damage could a shard of glass do to a Grimm? What if it did nothing at all? Adam didn't want to find out, so he did something he hated. It had to be done. *CLICK* In an instant he hunches over almost like his body went through a shut down. His circulatory system now visible in areas not covered by clothes. From his feet to the top of his head they pulsated. You could practically hear his heart pumping. Eyes dull and determined, he shotputs the hammer in the direction of the Boar. With a breath that sounds more like a hiss he takes off behind it. Leaving a cloud of dust behind him he approaches the beast from the rear. Adam jumps into the air grabbing the hammer and begins to flip his body. After a few rotations he begins to descend on his target. With another hiss Adam uses all the power in his back and shoulders to unleash a devastating aerial blow to the creature's head hoping to make a wonderful splatter mark on the earth. Luckily, Ridley dove out of the way which Adam was ignorant of. In this state he can only see his target and only thinks of the mission in mind: elimination.

Only Hope
𝒯𝑒𝒶𝓂 Dark

⋯⋯⋯⋯⋯⋯⋯⋯⋯⋯⋯⋯⋯⋯⋯⋯⋯⋯⋯⋯⋯⋯⋯⋯⋯⋯⋯⋯⋯⋯⋯⋯⋯⋯⋯⋯⋯⋯⋯

One of the Eldest teams at Beacon, Dark would not be defeated so easily

Cecil:
The Grimm felt victorious, its bait having worked to get the would be huntsman weapon arm and bring him back to the ground. The prey was no match for him once he got a grip on it, and was under its control now. Having it down on the ground, it would begin to rake into its prey's back. Trying to shred into it while it was down on the ground, to finish it off while it believed it was pinned and helpless. It saw it's prey moving, futilely, as it continued trying to finish it off. It saw it move a weapon to face it, but was mid strike with a claw to his back so it could not react as it was blasted in the face. Coating it with ice as it flailed and struggled, trying to claw off the ice. This gave Cecil his opening. Still distracted by the ice, it was blind to the movements of its prey. Only managing to slash it off enough to see as Cecil was right in front of him and cutting into the Grimm; both arms mostly fine for now cause of his aura. While it didn't cut clean through, the Beowolf howled in pain as black ichor and dust leaked from the wound before it would fade away. Cecil was victorious.

Azura:
Azura had a brilliant plan in mind, and the boarbatusks fell for it hook line and sinker. Not knowing why a strange symbol appeared on Azura, they charged forward intent to take down the human as they thought she was standing her ground to fight them. In close succession, they were sure at least one of them would hit her and it would be over. What the first one never expected though was to go straight through the girl. Caught off guard it could not slow its momentum as it kept going forward. Meanwhile, the other saw the illusion fade in a flash as the girl appeared a few feet from where it last saw her. Before it could really react, Azura had punctured it's underside with her scythe...but it was not dead like the last. It struggled against her, threatening to pull the scythe from her grasp as it was in it, but it's struggles would swiftly end as a hammer came down on its head. The sudden force and blow to the head brought it down, and sub-sequentially cause the scythe to penetrate much deeper into it. It let out a pained squeal as it died; the other boarbatusk having been distracted for a few moments by a sudden pain it felt in it's limbs but quickly recovered and was already heading for Azura in a roll this time. What would she do?

Ridley:
The boarbatusk was glad to dislodge the pesky human from its back, the blade still causing pain to it as it was lodged in its back. While it did a hard hit to the wall, causing further pain to it as it buried the weapon a bit more into it, its anger only fueled it and it was not done yet. It was moving to turn, and was about to continue a charge to the creature that caused it so much pain before something happened. Out of nowhere, two of its legs felt intense pain as if they were badly damaged. An ache and stabbing pain from the inside of it, causing it to pause and squeal in pain as it spun to try and find the source but saw nothing. Confused and in pain, it would be unaware of Ridley until she was closer; turning to the sound of footsteps and emotions right as Ridley stabbed down with the glass. Black ichor erupted onto the huntress-in-training as it tried to gore her with its horns but Ridley was already out of the way. Its confusion and pain would soon be ended by a swift and sudden blow out of nowhere. Adam had finished the job by smashing it's head in with a hammer; quickly having it fade to dust with Ridley's weapon clattering to the ground.

Adam:
After crashing into an earth wall, you knew you had to make up for lost time as all your friends were fighting. Cecil wrestling a beowolf, Azura against two boarbatusks, and Ridley locked in a duel with a boarbatusk. Unearthing the mighty hammer, you spring into action like an action movie hero. With your jump and slam, you hear the death squeal of the boarbatusk as you are already on the move. The Grimm having been none the wiser as its focus was on your teammate. Seeing your partner in crime Ridley in peril, you do what necessary and activate the switch. Everything else falls to the wayside as you focus on it; the boarbatusk before her. It seemed in pain for a moment, distracted and vulnerable, and you take advantage of it. Not even noticing Ridley's own attack as you charge forth, catching and spinning with your hammer before turning it's head into chunks with a mighty downward blow. Its body slowly fading to black dust behind you as a small pool of black ichor lies on the ground. Eyes only for Grimm, you would see there was still one left; the one by Azura that had fallen for the illusion but was now doing a death roll towards her. What do you do?

Everyone:
With one Boarbatusk left, your work was almost done. For those of you with the luxury of your senses and no threats, you would notice noise coming from the church. It almost sounded like iron grating on stone or something, along with the sight of shadows from small slits on the windows that weren't fully covered; though if it was people or something else you couldn't tell. Were the people coming out from the church, barricading themselves in further, or something else in there and trying to come out? You couldn't be sure for now but there was definitely activity in there and it would not be long before whatever happened would be finished.

Cecil was breathing heavily, having manage to dust the Beowolf as he stabbed the Oodachi into the ground, namely to maintain balance as he took a deep breath. He looked to his left arm while he knew the pain in his back was going to be there awhile. He looked to the others, seeing as Azura managed to take down a boarbatusk with her scythe as did Ridley with the help of Adam. There was one Boarbatusk left and with Cecil's enemy finished, he left the Oodachi behind, his left arm still out of swinging condition but he brought it back to grab an Ice Dust before he looked to the rest of the team. He soon began to slide, having gotten his emotions in check to keep his semblance from harming him as he could hear the sounds from the church. His focus was to defeat the Boarbatusk as it barreled to Azura and what better way than to throw an ice crystal in it's path. The idea was to either impale it with the summoned spikes of uncontrolled ice or to launch it into the air for the others and Adam to put the kibosh to this last foe. He couldn't do much of anything else as he shouted. "It's sides! Hurry!" He shouted at them, pointing out it's weakness for the fact it's entire front and back side during this roll were severely armored.

Breathless, the girl would push herself up from the ground, her leather gloves combined with her aura had protected her mostly from the class, but the shard had cut clean through the thick fabric and into the tender tissue of her palms. The slices oozed crimson, but it was the least of her concerns. Wiping her palms on her legs, she reach up, wiping her face with the back of her arm, smearing the black ichor across her ivory skin. In fact, she'd probably made the problem worse rather than better. Though at this point it's not like she could look much more a mess. She was splattered with black ichor, dusted with dirt, and smeared with her own blood. Dark locks had found their way out of their braid and lay tangled around her face, swaying about her hips. Reaching up, she'd brush the stray strands out of her face and tuck them behind her eyes. Golden orbs peering warily through the dust to access her situation. She wasn't entirely sure what she had expected to see. A dead boarbatusk, a livid boarbatusk charging towards her, a stunned and injured boarbatusk. She would say the odds were pretty well split. She had never guessed there could be a fourth option, let alone what that option would entail. She liked to think she knew Adam pretty well, of course there was so much more for her to learn. He knew her better than most, but there were still plenty of secrets that hadn't come alight yet. Even so, this was entirely unexpected. She'd never seen him like this before. His eyes were dark, and dull, almost like all of the life and light had been drained out of them. His expression was slack, lacking the usual cheer and enthusiasm he brought to the team. Veins and tendons protruded from his skin, pulsating beneath the tissue. Even from here she could count his heart beats with every pulse, she could see it all so clearly she could almost imagine she could hear each thump of his heart, feel it reverberating through her bones. She'd missed the action, but it wasn't hard to put the pieces together. Hunched over the beast, hammer in hand, dust spraying and ichor splattering. She winced slightly, realizing in that moment just how lucky she was to have dodged out of the way so quickly. Her sword clattered to the ground, the metallic ringing seeming almost deafening in the quiet of the moment. She couldn't even comprehend how he had made it over here so fast, but she figured it was something to do with the sudden change in appearance.

"Adam?" She kept her voice, soft, tender. Almost like she was calling out to a scared child rather than the teammate she'd grown to know and love. There was something hostile about him, something predatory, something that warned her to proceed with caution. Slowly she walk to where her first sword had fallen, picking it up in her hand before slowly approaching the man. "Adam, are you okay?" She was nearly upon him know, golden orbs peering up into his dark gaze. Did he hear her? Could he see her? Somehow she expected he couldn't. Its like his eyes were looking, but not really seeing. It was like half his brain had been shut off, leaving only instincts and reflexes. Reaching out with her free hand, delicate fingers would stop just shy of his arm, lingering in the air for a moment before dropping limply back to her side. She hesitated, not out of fear per say, but simply because this was a side of Adam she had never seen before. She wasn't entirely sure how to proceed, but she didn't want to set him off. "Adam," She would say again, more firmly this time as she tried to catch his attention. She needed him to look at her, not just look at her, but to actually see her. "We're safe now." Her voice was soft, comforting. A side of Ridley that the team didn't often see. The nurturing side that had remained mostly dormant since that night her little sister was ripped away from her and this world. Despite the calm of her voice, her statement wasn't entirely true. Safe for the moment perhaps, but they still had no idea what was really waiting for them on this quest. That didn't matter though, not right now.

"It's sides! Hurry!"Cecil's voice tore her attention away from Adam, dark locks would whip through the air as she turned quickly back to the last remaining boarbatusk. With a final glance at Adam, she would reach down and grab her other blade before sprinting several feet ahead. She needed to get into range, as well as at an angle she could hit her target without worrying about her bullets ricocheting and hitting her teammates. Shifting her dual swords into pistols as she ran, she aim the guns at the beasts side and belly. Steady as she pulled the triggers simultaneously, she would launch six bullets towards the grimm, three from each gun. She was still worried about Adam, however, letting their teammates, or themselves, get skewered by nasty grim tusks wasn't going to help their situation any. She would have to wait until they took out this final target to try and get through to him, and maybe that was better. Perhaps the promise of relative safety would help. Between the chaos of Adam and the realization of the final baorbatusk, she hadn't had the chance to give much thought to the strange sounds coming from the church yet. Yet another problem for the future.

Fear and dread filled Azura. A sense of bearly controlled panic as, instead of cutting cleanly threw, her scythe embedded itself in the boarbatusk, and now the creature threatened to rip the weapon out of her hands. Without Crimson Regret she was particularly vulnerable. She couldn't throw a punch to save her life, never mind fight off a Grimm. Help came very suddenly and unexpectedly in the form of a hammer to the head. "Thanks, Adam!" She shouted, but her sugar-addicted teammate was already off, leaving her to face the other boarbatusk on her own. Little did she know, she wouldn't be facing it alone after all.

It was too early to use her semblance again. She didn't have enough time to change out the magazine to dust-powered bullets. So she did the only thing she could do as the creature rolled towards her. She switched her weapon to sniper mode and dived out of the way, knowing when rolling boarbatusk's couldn't change direction easily. Hopefully, that would buy her some time. Help came though. Ice suddenly appeared in its path and Ridley came running while firing her pistols. From her position on the ground, Azura took aim and fired for the creature's sides.
