Fun extra: If you use the "all Gaia" search in Dress Up, click this link to see a regular-sized image of your creation. Click save on that image to upload. This is not required.
eek Oh. Wow. Never knew about that link! Will add it to the in-guild avatar-making resource.
I used to add the avatar to saved outfits and click the sell outfit option. I don't sell the outfit, but the reduced size image is available through that image. It can be used to share the outfit; however, I haven't used it enough to know it's limitations. I'd predict the image doesn't work after a period time and changing the saved outfit. This link makes it a lot faster to view the reduced size.

I got that link a long time ago from one of the site wide Gaia avatar contests. The staff included it for people to use with their submissions. I'm pretty sure that's where it was. You can also save the closet image itself. You don't have to store it to the closet, as long as you can see a preview. It's totally deceiving since it appears smaller, but it saves as regular avatar size. o:

Cool to know saving the closet image. o.o
Sometimes I'm not very good with describing something. Did you know that the sell outfit option provides an image link - enabling a user to share an avatar without saving to computer and using an image host? I changed the saved outfit slot and the original outfit image still seems available. (This isn't the same as the current avatar link, which I know changes when the avatar gets changed).

That's on me. I read what you said assuming it was to just view the normal-sized image, not obtaining a link. That's neat O: and looks a lot faster than favoriting an avatar in the album system. That's cool that the image stays. I know you can obtain a link by sharing the image link of an avatar saved in a closet. That's cool that you obtain a link... and don't need to keep the avatar there. Which is XD a real godsend because I know I don't have the closet space to use on avatar contest images. <.<;;; It'll be good to see how long the image lasts in the system, knowing how (...grrr, the word I want has slipped my mind, but you know...) how Gaia isn't exactly organized and neat and tidy with their code and XD; I'd bet they hang onto that image for a loooooong time. Thanks O:

So it is new to you as well? Cool!
My guess is the image would be available for a year, like the Avatar Builder images. Will post the images in my resource thread and then I might remember to check back and see if the images still work.
I think I've used this type of link for a few contests without any problem. I thought the image used to be tied to the outfit slot - if you changed the outfit slot the image changed. Doesn't seem to be a problem at the moment. Also thought there were some viewing issues for some users - maybe that was through the favorites album though. sweatdrop

Another way to let Gaia host your avatar (if you're wearing your own stuff) is to favorite your own avatar, then go to your favorites and copy the image link.
It didn’t work. That happened to me too. Tintin and Joy helped me so much! Did you want to submit your current avi?
The link works, you go to it and it takes you to my favorites.
It's not my current avi.
I can try to save it for you if you equip what you’d like to submit. Are you on a phone like I am? I usually have to get it to say copy image for it to work. I saved Joy’s words and will post them for you.

Also, while I'm posting, I thought I'd give this alternative way of posting your (or anyone else's) avatar on Gaia so it doesn't change when you do: 1. Favorite the avatar (click the red heart below the avatar) 2. Go to your favorites (in the drop down menu for My Gaia) 3. Click on the avatar you just favorited, then right click and select "copy image address" 4. You can use the address within the codes to post.
You have to add “]img]” before and after the code - the after bracketed has to be ]/img]
It’s a little different on a phone. I googled directions and got 3 options I think.

I'm on a computer and that's what I did is what Joy said lol. Inside the image codes doesn't work. Which is why I posted the link by itself. If you copy/paste it it works just fine.
