"We could," Nix agreed, nodding. "Though, now that I think about it, I feel like whatever it was was trying to scare me." He rubbed his chin. "I wonder if there's something where it started? Scare people away, instead of, ya know, trying to eat us or whatever...?" He looked over to her. "Where did this start for you?"

She'd been chased a few times now that it was hard for her to remember exactly where this had all started. Though casting her mind back, she did remember that it had all started after she had left the house one evening and it had been while she was moving in to the inner city but after that it had all seemed to be a bit at random.
...And then they had seemed to chase her in to the shadows which made no sense given what those shadows were quickly becoming.
"You know if they kept chasing me towards the light I guess that would make sense," she conceded. "But after the first time they seemed to just be chasing me into other shadows. The only reason I managed to get out is because I started looking for these things," she pointed up towards a floodlight.
"Did they chase you from somewhere else?" she asked curiously. She'd been fairly unlucky with all these fantastical machinations as of late so she might have been an unreliable barometer in that respect, someone like Nix might be the safer to base a judgement off!

Nix scratched his cheek, thinking. "Er...I don't remember where it started," he said. "I was heading home. Don't think there was anything, you know, unusual that I noticed." He paused. "Well, I mean, aside from the shadow dog spooks." A sigh, then. "Eh. I dunno. Maybe it would be best to just keep an eye out, and if they turn up again, try to deal with it right away, where ever that is."

"How about this..." Adorea switched her phone's light back on and smiled. "For now we call it quits, but if anything happens to either of us we put out a call?" she offered.
It wasn't a perfect solution and they were certainly no closer to answers, but if both of them were looking for the same sort of intelligence and happened to come across it then they could always call. Wasn't that what these little devices were for, a means for them to keep in contact? They might not have all the answers now but with enough people looking for them then maybe they could find a source or even just a motivation.
"And maybe next time we can bring a couple of torches," she added after a moment.
She wasn't sure it would work but maybe with enough creative usage of said torches then maybe they could corner one? They seemed to get stuck in the shadows but what about really tiny shadows? It was food for thought for the red head.

"Mm, yeah, probably for the best," Nix agreed, nodding and rubbing the back of his neck. "I really need to remember to keep a flashlight with me...especially this time of year." "You'll be alright from here, right?" he asked. He figured he knew the answer, but it just won't be right to assume one way or another. "I should probably be heading home." Epine de Rose Oops, kinda let this sit for a bit long there. Sorry 'bout that! We can probably wrap it up.

"Maybe worth getting you one for Christmas," she teased and then shook her head.
"I'll be fine though, I've managed to outrun these things before on more than one occasion so I should be able to do it again," she reassured him. She would sooner she didn't have to run as quickly as she could through the shadows but when needs must, she did as she was told. She'd gotten good at staying focused and moving towards a reliable light source so in the end this evening would be no different.
"Take it easy all right?" she knew he was more than capable but it seemed appropriate to wish him well.
It was with her 'escape route' in mind that she took a breath and finally stepped in to the shadows in earnest. In a flurry of footsteps it was clear that she had taken off and was already jogging at a comfortable pace towards where she needed to go. If the dogs gave chase she'd be ready but she'd worry about that if it happened, right now, it was home time.Tolin Kalin I'd say we can call this fin. It feels like a natural conclusion. n_n
