His hand caught at Fettelite's arm as he stepped back, and from there it slid down as he sank to sit on the ground, fingers trailing down Fettelite's forearm until he could catch and squeeze at his hand. Even being away from Cavansite, there was still a persistent, stinging edge in Rakovanite's chest, and he felt strangely out of breath despite doing almost absolutely nothing. "It's- I'm-" But there weren't exactly words for the sensation, were there? He laced his fingers through Fettelite's and settled on a more simple nod of his head.
His gaze fell to inspect a bright golden cufflink attached to his coat sleeve. Right. December changed clothes when he powered up and down, for some reason. But with all this magical nonsense, he wondered if he still needed- He raised his fingers to brush the frames of his glasses, and ah. Yes. Still visually impaired. Magic wouldn't fix that.
That was fine.
As Cavansite spoke, his attention went back to her. Rakovanite still didn't trust her or Wolframite, and he couldn't see himself relying on them for anything he was capable of learning or doing himself. He supposed transportation was a bit of an issue, but... Beyond that, he could hardly expect either of them to be useful in what he'd wanted into their organization for at all. That end simply necessitated that he not be anyone particularly suspicious or openly rebellious until then. He inclined his head with a murmured, "Thank you. As you wish." Quiet acquiescence would likely serve better in that regard than stubborn pride. Those could come after.

Every touch Fettelite could offer was gentle. The moment Rakovanite hit the ground, he was by his side, fingers squeezing back reassuringly.
“You’re really strong, you know that?” His voice was soft, a whisper meant only for the new Lieutenant. “I’m really proud of you.. Let’s go home, okay? You can rest up, and then we can figure out the rest.”

They were done here.
"Power down and head home. I'll give you time to rest and contact you soon." He informed them both.
He turned to Cavansite one last time. "I'll report to you soon. Thank you again. I appreciate it."
And with that, the captain left, knowing full well Cavan would follow after and leave the two officers to themselves.

There was a moment of concern on the General’s face as her newest lieutenant sank to the ground, and she made to go to him, though paused as the other lieutenant did instead, though when Wolframite decided it would be the best time to just vanish, she scowled slightly. He was supposed to have taken things in hand but…she supposed that Fettelite could do that as well, at least with the basics.
Still though, she walked over to both of the lieutenants and gave a smile. “Rakovanite, to go back to as you were, you simply think of yourself as you were. Picture each detail, and your power will fade. It works both ways, to access your power again, you focus on it, and it will come to you.”
Quietly she held out both hands for them to grasp if they wanted, intending to help them up before taking her leave. “You will learn a lot under myself and Wolframite, and please, feel free to bring your friend along whenever you’d like.” She nodded to Fettelite. “I’m going to assume you’ll stay with him tonight? Answer any questions that he may have, lieutenant. I’m very proud of you both.”

Rakovanite eyed the hand that was offered. It was not his preference to accept help in even this small gesture, particularly when he didn't anticipate them becoming friends and didn't want to give the impression that he did. It was enough that she had had to come here to change him, at all. He instead focused on Fettelite, turning dismissively away from Cavansite and pushing to his feet of his own power, lifting the other lieutenant to stand with a tug on his held hand.
For the most part, December had already answered most of what Rakovanite could think to ask well before Cavansite had appeared. Before Wolframite had agreed to this even. So it was more a matter of... adapting. In his own time.
"We will be fine tonight," he assured softly, meant almost more for Fettelite than for Cavansite. He couldn't imagien doing anything more than going home and going to sleep. Maybe there would be more discussion tomorrow over the exact 'how' to accomplish anything he needed to, but- Oh. It was his first meeting with Cavansite, wasn't it? He knew next to nothing about her and barely understood what role she'd have in his development besides being here now. His dark gaze flicked back to her. "What are your expectations?"

No one really expected anything of him... Did they? The order Cavansite gave about him explaining things to Rakovanite seemed redundant. He already knew better than to keep anything from his dear friend. That trust was hard earned, and he wasn't going to break it any time soon.
Fettel did offer the smallest of apologetic smiles to Cavansite as Rakovanite pulled him to his feet.
He was supposed to be the one to answer questions, especially when it was pretty certain he wouldn't have the right answers. Still, he gave her a small nod, then a truer smile to Rako, who seemed to treat him tenderly even now.

Cavansite gave a smile that held as much warmth in it as it did fatigue and sighed inwardly, wishing that he would let her help but…no matter. “I expect you to learn. And learn quickly. You and I will have a meeting soon, Rakovanite, and I will go over how I expect my recruits to act and behave, but until then, rest and recover from this, keep in contact with Wolframite and your friend here to answer any burning questions. Any that they cannot answer, I will answer when I see you next. I hope that is fair.”
She truly did hope so, and for a moment, the General struggled not to yawn as another wave of exhaustion swept through her. “Go home. Go and rest. We will talk soon.”
And with that, she left too, against her better judgment, but she couldn’t take them all out to dinner, besides…they didn’t seem comfortable. She didn’t…enjoy the idea of having done this as a favor, and perhaps…that was simply a lesson learned.

Oh. Something he was adept at already. "It happens I learn quite quickly," Rakovanite retorted with a nonchalant shrug. And he already had the discipline required of maintaining routine and physique. If Rakovanite had concerns about his capabilities, it was only where they involved other people... Like his willingness to meet again with Cavansite or keep contact with Wolframite. His gaze dipped to where his hand held Fettelite's. He didn't trust them. And wasn't sure what other use their presence in his life would be, besides to hinder him from what he was here for.
He raised Fettelite's hand to his lips to kiss his knuckles.
Cavansite needed to know none of that, and there was surely some benefit to maintaining a farce of normalcy, of compliance. It shouldn't be that difficult to manage. He was pleased with the night's events and eager to sink his teeth into everything from abilities to knowledge that this force of chaos had to offer. "I understand," he inclined his head acquiescently, and then, as abrupt as teleportation could be, Rakovanite and Fettelite were alone.
And now that they were, it somehow seemed more safe than it had been amongst all of them, to follow Cavansite's directions, think of himself as himself, and power down.
It was no less an odd sensation as initially powering up, like- like a drain on his stamina, a loss of all the chaos energy previously there. Nataniel winced and grit his teeth. Maybe it was even something of an unpleasant sensation. "We can go back to the apartment," he muttered to Fettelite. "So I can sleep."

Even with all this, Nataniel still managed to be sweet to him, and that simply made Fettelite smile. A breathe he didn't know he held was released when the generally finally disappeared too, and if it wasn't for the fact that he was being used for support, he'd fall to his own knees as they were ready to give out.
"Mm... Of course. Let's go home." He, too, powered down,
"I know I already said it, but I'm super proud of you. Thank you for this... For everything."
Indigo_Plateau And I'll call that a fin! biggrin
