This monstrosity you have going on here.” He made a vague gesture at the strange contraption that was supposed to make coffee. Perhaps he should buy the kitten a Keurig machine.
But now it seemed like everything was settled. He’d have a few deliveries made to the kitten and then... Maybe then he’d finally have the courage to go see Wolframite again.
“Alright, sounds good. In the mean time, be sure to work on your coffee machine more.I expect a better cup next time... Ah, but I never did ask your name. I’m ‘Mali, by the way... I suppose you could say that machines are a bit of a specialty of mine.” Automatons were machines in a way... Right? He never thought much about it.

“Well, he might,” Chip allowed. “But playing with your food and playing with computers are completely different things, silly!” He giggled, tickled by the idea of a machine that cooks and plays. “Oh! Yeah, I’m Chip! Good to meet you, Mali!” He said in reply to names. “What sorts of machines have you made? Can I see them?” The possibility of another inventor renewed his enthusiasm all over again...not that it had really subsided at all during the conversation. He was practically bouncing with excitement.

"... You know what? I think you're right. He might, but I'm fairly certain he likes raw meat more than he likes cooked things. So we'll just leave that off for now." As well as he could remember, Wolframite liked his steaks bloody. Fitting for someone who seemed to be half-wolf.
Unintentionally, Mali had riled up the kitten again... He really did have other places to be, so only gave Chip a small smile and a shake of his head.
"We'll save that for another time. Once you have the gift to show me, I'll show you my machines. Does that sound fair?"

“Oh, a mystery!” Chip replied, mostly containing his disappointment. “I guess I can wait until after making this thing for you.” He nodded. “I’ll get started on some controls, and then I can hook it all up once you get me the games!” He was more than happy to get started on this little project, even if it wouldn’t, ultimately, warrant big spinning gears or needlessly large grinding implements.

"Excellent." Seeming quite pleased with the outcome, 'Mali reached out and gave the kitten one last little stroke on his head, a scratch under his chin, before he began to head towards the door.
"I'll have everything you may need for the base of the contraption tomorrow. It may not be me, but will have a note from me. And remember, little kitten, the barrack rooms are small, so no need to make it as huge as your coffee contraption, understood?"

"Bigger is better, though!" Chip protested, at least half-serious. "But okay~ travel-sized. I can do that!" He nodded. "No bigger than a bed room," he added with a giggle. "If you're not gonna help me build stuff, you can go~ maybe find me some minions while you're getting parts. But I can find 'em if I really need 'em." With that out of the way, the tiny kitty waded into his pile of parts, and started pulling things out. "Yeah, this board will work great," he muttered. It seemed Chip was quite ready to get started!
