Kari swallowed and continued to hold the cat in her arms and finally she gave a smile. “…So are you…trying to get me to ask if my starseed thinks I’m ready to be stronger…because…if you think that…and it thinks that…then I would really honestly like to be if that’s all right?”
His words of being a good team warmed her all the way through and she nodded, giving a soft laugh. “Yeah. Of course I’ll help you, Soleiyu. I’d…honestly I’d most likely do anything for you right now. You’ve completely got me wrapped round your paw, and I don’t even care. You say such nice things…and I’m kind of believing them. It’s wild.”
Even though her life had turned around, she was still full of so many doubts, so many beliefs that she only got here because of the support she received from Evan and Laurence—Loren, and that none of her strength was actually her own…but maybe…
Maybe it had been her own for a while now.
After all, she had been the one supporting her boyfriend as he dealt with the aftermath of Tobias’ disappearance and his parent’s deaths…and…she had done a damn good job at it. Mostly.
Kind of.
“Really Sol…if my starseed says I’m ready…then can you make me stronger? Please?” She hoped it wouldn’t sound greedy…but he had offered.

His tail whipped through the air eagerly. "Yes, please. Set me down?"
He waited until she complied, and then asked, "And your pen, please. I know you've done this before." Again, he waited--patiently, until she had presented her pen. He accepted it, taking it first in his mouth until he could maneuver it into his paws. He did so with his body turned half way from her, as if he were hiding what he was doing to update her pen. For a few seconds he tinkered with it, and then scooped it up to grip in his mouth.
He held it carefully, firm enough not to drop it but gentle enough not to leave any sort of marks, and trotted to her. In front of Kari, he drew his front paws up and stretched the length of his body against her leg as he presented her pen to her.
He may have been sophisticated, a professional, but in that moment he was simply excited, paws gently kneading against her leg as he presented it.
It was rude to speak with your mouth full, so he huffed at her until she took it.
"Eternal Sailor Kari," he nodded to the pen and returned to a seated position. "You have to say the phrase, embrace it. And pick me up, let me rest on your shoulders, and I'll finish this up. He just wanted to be close to her, wanted to make sure she was holding him in case this took more energy than he expected. He was already itching to unlock the potential of her starseed.
He was as ready for this as she was.

Kari felt her heart begin to pound as Soleiyu said the words she had been longing to hear for so long. And when she handed the large cat her pen and watched it glow and change its shape and when she held it in her hands again, she clung to it, the tears finally slowly making their way down her cheeks. “…Thank you…”
She scooped the cat up and placed him on her shoulders, giving a little half laugh as his fur tickled the back of her neck, but not really caring. He was heavy, but it was a weight that she could handle easily, and as she gripped the pen in her hands and drew in a breath, she felt a sudden sense of calm.
She was worthy of this. Sailor Kari…was going to become an Eternal senshi. She was going to be just like Evan now. Just like Cambria.
She was worthy.
“Kari Eternal Power…Make Up!”
And she felt herself growing stronger, her fuku changing, everything was changing.
And suddenly it was over, and she was laughing, taking the cat off of her shoulders and holding him in her arms, half laughing and half crying, giving words of thanks in between kisses pressed to his fluffy face.

Soleiyu was surprised he didn't feel as exhausted as he thought he should, like a nagging thought in the back of his mind told him that he should be tired and hungry from all this effort.
His eyes went to the changes on her uniform, to the feathers and fur, and all he could think was that it looked comfortable.
"You look marvelous, Kari. Don't cry." His fluffy tail swished closer, brushing against her cheek. It might have been more comforting if he'd had a soft hand, instead of a thick, furry tail to smother her face with, but he was doing his best.
"We should go home. And eat, and sleep. That's so very draining, you know. But you are positively glowing. I'm so happy that I met you, tonight. We should have a party, at home. Something small, for tonight. And then we should go meet your friends so they can praise you, too. You deserve it."

Kari nodded and smiled softly, reaching out and drawing the cat back into her arms, burying her face against his soft back and sighing. “Yes. Let’s go home. We can have a party and I’ll give you that good bath and brushing and make you just shine…and we’ll have a great time.
She would keep him to herself as much as she could, and treat him like the most pampered cat in the world…and eventually she would introduce him to the others but…
But for now…he would be hers.
“Thank you, Soleiyu. I appreciate you so much…so come on, let me repay you!”
And without another word, she let the guise of Kari melt away and Gale stood there, still snuggling the cat. “You’re going to like it at home. I promise.”
