"I know, it sounds counter-intuitive. But when you spend enough time here it just kind of becomes... normal, you know? Even comforting. Like everything else can go to s**t -- and god knows that it does in this city -- but Mirror Space is just like it always is. confusing as hell." Her laughter, though not loud in and of itself, as amplified by the stark walls around then and echoed down the long hallway.
Her laughter died away when Lacerta asked about the corruption.
"That's... more complicated than Mirror Space somehow. It's a simple and painless process. If you ever want to come home, I'll call Remarque or Leto, our royals, and they will pass you through a mirror. When you come back out, you will be a Dark Mirror Senshi." Her own corruption passed through her mind, recalling the way Leto has delivered her into the mirror with soft hands and pulled her back out as one of her own.
"But that's... kind of where the simplicity ends. When you corrupt, you can no longer go back to who you used to be as a civilian. Before I was Dark Mirror, my name was Micah Elizabeth Anne Driscol. When I came home, I could no longer go back to her. Who I am outside of this, that woman, was someone that I had to build from scratch about five years ago. Technically... I'm only five years old.
"That also meant that I could never go back to my family. I corrupted to save them -- to protect them from the enemies that I had made and the blood that I had shed, but part of that was letting them think that their daughter... their Mischa's sister... had died.
"And you will have to do the same... should you ever choose to come home..." Acubens had slowed down, watching Lacerta's expression as she spoke. When she lost people... it was usually here. The idea of leaving lives and loved ones was, understandably, a huge turn off for most people...
"It's why I prefer awakening Dark Mirrors instead of corrupting them. And why I'm so broken-hearted that I came to you too late."
