MAB chooses to stay outside and Guard the Entrance.

With a put upon southern drawl, Mab addressed Goblinite, "No excuse for you, bless your little heart," and nodded to Uvarovite to acknowledge that she'd heard the admonition.

Obviously she was going to careful around youma - she didn't want to get eaten! But...still. It was nice to know that the other General had noticed him, because that meant that it was likely he'd at least realize if Mab disappeared: an excellent thing in the senshi of spindle's book. Mab gave another look towards Goblinite, thoughtfully.

"Not so little, I suppose." But then a flash of fur caught attention again: the kitten! Mab gave a little huff and scooped the tiny thing up, cradling it against the flat of her chest. "You poor darling, now who would've let a sweet thing like you alone out here?" A guy, big. In blues. White hair, she thought. That'd been the kitten's ride. "You can stay with me until we find your friend."

"I'm Mab, by the way."

Mab tapped the toe of her boot and kept a wary eye out for youma or other monsters while guarding the tavern doors, but all she found - besides the precious Mauvian - were some odds and ends of various levels of worth. I guess these coins are worth keeping....

Lt. Kainite chooses to not know when to quit head inside first to Scout the Building

Again. He literally seemed completely unphased by the hostility. Annabergite could have been spreading a welcome mat and offering a place full of warm cookies and he probably would have garnered the same reaction he was now. "Oh, sorry - I'm Kainite - Kain is fine, " he offered 'helpfully', flashing a dazzling smile. "Hey, same here! I'd honestly rather be watching Friends right now - I've already seen it a disgusting amount of times, but I'm right up to the whole London story arc again, and you know - but anyway, greater purpose and all, you know." He was saying all of this is a relatively hushed tone, but... that was still a lot of talking, wasn't it?

Without missing a beat, he carried right on, "I mean, maybe it's just me, but these things tend to go a lot faster with good company." And not to toot his own horn too much or anything, but Kainite knew full well he was pretty damn delightful. And charming. And a joy to be around. "So what's your deal? - what's your deal, hm? Have you been with the negaverse long? - did I already ask that? - how long have you been a captain? I feel like I've asked this already."

Corrupt Sailor Meridiana chooses to stay outside and Guard the Entrance

“My bet is on them.” Her decision to remain outside was clearly made the moment Arabia suggested the building might collapse if he was forced to use his attack. Which, by the looks of this city, it may very well be true.

“I’d rather be a sitting duck than a caged bird. At least out here, if s**t hits the fan, hopefully one of us can get away and make it to one of the other groups for aid.” Hopefully they weren't too far away and were reachable in time.

Corrupt Guardian Obscura chooses to stay outside and Guard the Entrance.

Obi had hitched a ride with Fettelite, happy to have a better view of their surrounding from her new vantage point. The Rift wasn't the prettiest place she had ever seen, but it was certainly interesting. Even as they walked through what looked like an old orchard. It was surprising to her that anything like that had thrived in the past. But, by the size of the husks, it looked to have been alive at one point. She wondered what had actually been grown there.

As they approached the cavern, two options became available to them. As much as she wanted to go inside for a good look, it seemed better to hang back a bit for now. She wasn't being a coward, just practical. "Think we should wait out here for now?" There were plenty of others that had already decided to go into the building. Enough, that if something were hiding in there, they should be able to handle it just fine. Or at least she hoped. Some people needed to stay outside in case their presence alone attracted some unsavory youma.

Lt. Kainite chooses to head inside first to Scout the Building

To that, though, Kainite was ready with, “Really? You’ve been missing out - when we’re done here, you should come over. A nice binge watch for a job well done and all. I’ve got great snacks, “ like that was any great deciding factor there.

Still. Whether in making friends or getting that acting job, running away with his tail between his legs when met with resistance didn’t do anyone any good. This man would see his value, and by the end of tonight, they would be friends. It was that simple.

That was why he met outrage with calm. “That’s impressive, “ and a smile that was genuine as ever. “I’ve been around for a couple of years too, but got pulled away for a bit. Personal matters and all. Bossman wasn’t super pleased.” He kind of laughed. “But I’m doing my best now, anyway.”

As the group of scouts heads inside, it is immediately clear that this tavern is a hot den of youma activity! Just as the soldiers file in through the door, a pair of shadowy figures can be seen racing up the staircase at lightning speed. It’s too dark to see where they went, but maybe they’ll lead the group to their first clue.

Choice 2

Although the characters that stand guard outside of the door don’t risk their necks, they also don’t get to do very much either. There doesn’t seem to be anything going on outside at all. While they’re looking around, they do manage to find a pile of old silver coins. They look ancient and might be worthless but at least they’ve got a neat keepsake for all their time spent standing around.

Lt. Gunningite chooses to stay downstairs and Find the Backdoor. [+5, +3]

Gunningite had no desire to attempt to face combat so early into her career. She admitted to herself that as a Commissar she was derelict in her duty by not leading by example and charging headlong into the enemy and taking them down at all cost, but that small part of her that was the tactical thinker - the commander part - told her that she was heavily outmatched by anything they might face here - and with no real skills or weapon to her name... Best to avoid combat and find something like an exit.

So she started looking around the room for any sign of a rear exit - or even a side exit. Something that would allow her and the others to slip out of the building should they be able to acquire this strange magical gear they were looking for.

Sounded like Xenos or Chaos tech to her - and she was leery of it - but sometimes you had to use the enemy's weapons against them. Her side employed Daemons and Daemonhosts - so she was just dealing with a bunch of pragmatic radicals. She could work with that, provided she survived this little outing.
