Seren noticed the other girl didn't accept the offer of a bed... Though she didn't decline it, either... So she would have to see what came out of this. Seren could sleep on her couch, if needed, for the night, or they could share the bed, if Delilah was ok with that. "If you are staying, I think you could probably wear... one of my nightshirts..." She eyed the other girl's height and frame, before giving a small nod. "Yeah. It'll hang long on you, but that'll just provide warmth to your lower legs. My PJ pants, unfortunately, would be a touch long on you. D'you wanna share the bed, or should I take the couch?" She paused, then murmured "My room is on the second floor. I'll sneak up there without lights, and close the curtains so it won't be obvious." For the first time, she wished her room wasn't so near the big tree, but at least the branches that hung near her window weren't big enough to support a person (A cat, yes, a human, no) and were far enough back that they wouldn't scrape. "But later. For now, we're good here." She hoped. The potential murderer convict could be outside staring in at them... She had no idea, and the thought terrified the living hell out of her, to be utterly frank. She took her own brownie, and gave the other girl an indulgent smile... Her enthusiasm and enjoyment of the baked goods were like a happy balm to Seren's soul. "Glad you like it! Got the recipe off the net, but modified it pretty thoroughly."

"It's so good," gushed Delilah, once more, seemingly more concerned with the concept of eating the brownies than the idea of her having a sleepover for just a few minutes. In fact, it was a minute before she seemed able to think about much else. Someone had made delicious brownies and modified a recipe to make them even more delicious all for her. Was she making a friend? Was this what making friends was? She loved having friends. Or maybe this was just her tutor and she felt obligated to be nice, but then again, would just her tutor offer to share a bed? Wait, was this what flirting was? Was Seren interested in her? Was that how this worked? People were confusing. She was going to go with a sleepover. That made the most sense, she thought. And she was pretty sure it was a friendship and not like, a trying to get in her pants kind of sleepover. That would be weird. Especially since it wasn't an intentional sleepover-- As she ate a second brownie, Delilah nodded, "We can sleep in the same bed, I don't want to kick you out," and also that was how she would get the full sleepover experience, or something. "Could be fun! But for now, yeah, let's stay down here." And maybe they could learn to ignore the scratching... Maybe it was just a tree branch or something.

"I'm glad..." She laughed softly, amused at the other girl's enjoyment of the brownie. Seren's eyes were kind as she watched the other girl. Delilah was amusingly innocent, in some ways, and it sort of surprised Seren that someone could get to her age and still BE this innocent. She wondered how the girl had managed it, but for the moment, it did not matter... Keeping her safe did. Her hands were trembling, though, at what was going on, because it was really scary tonight. She hoped Nate wasn't having a bad night... She gave herself a quick head shake, to distract herself from those thoughts. "Cool. It's a decent size bed, so we'll have room." Her tone was calm, not at all flirty. She would happily befriend this girl, outside of tutoring her, she found herself thinking. She was sweet. "So, since studying is kinda hard to do by candle light, what do you normally do for fun, Delilah?" She wondered how awkward she sounded, as she tried to ignore the creepy sounds outside, the thump towards the front of the house and all. Ironical, really, that the power outage happened tonight. On any other night, she would have been so thrilled to have one... A night without an escaped convict or a storm... She'd have gone outside to stargaze until the power came back on.

At some point, Delilah had made it to the age of twenty. It was too bad that she couldn't remember how she had actually gotten there... Delilah took another bite of the brownie, listening to what Seren said, what tone she used. She certainly didn't sound flirty. That backed up Delilah's thought that this was definitely just someone being friendly with her, which worked for Delilah. She wanted all the friends. She wanted everyone to be her friend. She also was pretty sure she wanted every single brownie that Seren had ever created because apparently, she was just really good at this. The brownie was so good-- Wait, what did Delilah do for fun? ... What did she do for fun? What qualified as a hobby? Did she have any hobbies? Had she lived long enough to have hobbies? Wait! She knew what she did. She spent a lot of time researching things on the internet. Well, couldn't really do that with no power... She liked thrift-shopping! ... Definitely couldn't do that here with no power ... "Uh, I like to read?" offered Delilah, rubbing her neck. Well, this was awkward. She was pretty sure she didn't have any no power low light hobbies...

Seren watched the way Delilah was acting, curiously. Her expression changes, her apparent discomfort with the only answer she came out with. However, it was an answer Seren could get behind, and her face lit up. "Reading is awesome. What are your favorite books?" They were stuck here together, they did not really know that much about each other, and... Other then finding a deck of cards, Seren had no idea what to do in a situation like this, with no light and now power. Reading would be risky, it would strain their eyes. Same reason they wouldn't be working on studying tonight. They needed to take care of their eyes, after all. Thus she came up with the idea of talking with Delilah... Talking about things they both liked was a time honored way of passing time, right? She thought so, anyways. "Do you have any other hobbies, too? I'm just trying to get to know you, you see!"

What were her favorite books? Had she lived long enough to have favorite books? What did she enjoy the most? Maybe she could give a genre? But honestly, she enjoyed everything that was good. She enjoyed any good story. She enjoyed a story she could sink her teeth into and get to know the characters because then she could pretend they were her life experiences too because she had so few experiences of her own to go off of-- "I like books with a good character-driven story," decided Delilah, proud of how elegant that ended up coming out of her lips. She didn't intend to sound so smart there, but she would take it. Maybe if Seren thought she sounded smart, she would be friends with her. Even though she needed tutoring. Delilah bit on the bottom of her lip as she was asked about other hobbies, but right. Seren was just trying to get to know her. It was fine. There wasn't a whole lot to know, unfortunately, but Delilah could just make stuff up. She had done that before, right? Did she know enough now that she could make stuff up reliably? Well, she didn't have to quite yet-- "Thrift shopping?" offered Delilah, sounding less certain than she should have. "I like finding a good bargain." She also liked just taking things sometimes, but that was saved for when she was Sailor Nembus and it wouldn't come back to her that she was doing it. "And I also like watching people?" That was true, even though it wasn't blatantly a hobby. "And I like the internet! Like researching things. New things. Doing deep dives on that," what was the name what was the name, "Wiki!" Close enough!

"Oh yeah, character-driven is the best. I can't stand books that don't take time to develop the characters and get you to connect, see the way they grow. I mean, plot driven can be alright, but if the characters aren't developed, I get so bored!" She grinned brightly at Delilah. "Have you ever read the Harry Potter Books? I love that series, and it manages to walk that fine line between Plot and Character driven, so that you get a mix of both... Some things feel inevitable, because it's how the plot is, but the characters still drive the important stuff!" She tilted her head at the other things listed, and grinned. "All good hobbies! Bargain shopping is AWESOME. Have you been to the thrift shop on First and Main? It's such a great little shop. I've found so many gems there, like some adorable Kitty Knee tights, still in the original packaging!" She paused, then added "Also, Wiki is great but remember that it's community edited. Sometimes people will write some DUMB stuff. But it's a great tool!"

The Harry Potter books? She had heard of them for sure. When she was looking for the most popular books of their time for people in her age range, the Harry Potter series had come up pretty quickly. She had read through them ravenously. It wasn't her favorite series, but she understood why people liked it so much. It was too bad so many of the stories from that series were so magical she couldn't use them as substitutes for her own life, though... "Yeah, I read that series pretty early on," replied Delilah, with a laugh, before deciding to shift topics, grinning at the idea of someone managing to find such a good deal. Delilah loved good deals. Nothing was better than free but cheap was pretty close, especially if it was cheap and new. "Yeah, I've been there! So many people just drop off things that they never even bothered to wear in the first place. I love it! I can look styling on a part timer's budget." Seren seemed really enthusiastic. She must have liked her! This was good. Even if the storm was still going on, though she was fairly sure it was calming down. At least, she hadn't heard the scratching in a bit... Or at least she hadn't noticed it in a bit, anyway. "People are actually pretty good at self-managing it I've noticed! And there's a lot of citations and stuff too, so you can check the sources. I've sometimes gone digging through sources for more info myself. It's fun!" And it filled her with useless trivia, but knowing a bunch of useless trivia made her feel like she knew more about most things. At least, she could act as she did...

"I do love them. If you want another series, maybe try the Dresden Files? They're about a totally different wizard named Harry... He's a Private Investigator and Wizard in modern Chicago. There's magic, but it's like if magic was hiding away in the real world, in a much more... realistic way then the Potter Verse, if you ask me. And Harry Dresden is freakin' bad a**! It's such a good series. It pulled me in, so hard!" She refocused on the topic of shopping. "Oh yeah! I love when people do that. That's how it was with those kitty stockings. And a black kitty shirt I got. There's nothing like trying to find those hidden gems amongst the crap, you know?" She chuckled, and nodded. "My budget is all from my tutoring income, honestly." It was a miracle that she had the scholarship she did, and qualified for a low income program at the cafeteria at school... It saved her a lot of money. Still, it was nice to have a friend... Were they friends? This was her student, but still! She liked her and wanted to be friends... who was also into thrifting. Maybe they could go shopping together sometime. It wasn't like either of them would be stealing finds from the other... Their sizes were different enough that they'd never be borrowing each other's clothes that way. "Oh, I know, but I've seen articles that got totally TROLLED. Or were written by people who were not very literate in English, or were referencing things that MIGHT be real but might not, and plenty of 'sources needed' stuff. So it does sometimes get questionable. But yes! Mostly it's useful."

Maybe she'd have to hit up one of her favorite used bookstores for the other series that Seren was mentioning. Or perhaps she could go to the library. Oh, how she loved the library. She felt like she belonged there, though she suspected that was because she would bury herself in books, in stories, in worlds like this one and in worlds completely unlike the ones she currently lived in... It might have been a bad idea, but Delilah was totally willing to engorge herself on brownies. She considered it for just a moment, before opting to grab a third one, happily biting down on it. They were made for her, after all. She could eat as many as she wanted! Well, so long as Seren didn't start eating too many of them. But Seren had made them for her-- "It's like going on a treasure hunt," chirped Delilah, happily taking another bite of the brownie. "Except you don't have the treasure map, so it's even more exciting when you find good stuff! This whole outfit? I got from some pretty intense thrifting. Just dug through the shelves and tried stuff on until I found the good stuff." She winked. Humming, Delilah continued, "I've actually seen a couple professors even have their students make Wiki articles now." Well, she hadn't seen it personally, but she had heard about it from classes some of her other classmates were in, and online. That was enough for Delilah to take it and standardize it as knowledge because it gave her a response that made her sound like she knew what she was talking about. Although she wished she could get a class in which the professor had them write articles, that sounded fun... She glanced towards the windows. "The storm seems to have calmed down?"

Seren was still nibbling her first brownie... Years of deprivation as a child meant she tended to indulge slowly when she did, and let her friends eat more of the treats than she did, every time. It was easier on her, in the long run, emotionally and mentally, because she did not have to argue as hard with her instinct to believe that she didn't really deserve them when she only had one. Seren laughed at the comment about a treasure hunt. "Yeah, I know what you mean. What I'm wearing isn't thrift stuff..." She glanced at her galaxy themed outfit. "Can't find it there much, at least right now... But I have lots of good finds. It's great!" She grinned at the wink, a wide, happy grin. She leaned her head, curiously, listening to that comment. "Huh. I didn't know that... I suppose it could come up in my field, but I doubt it. I'm more likely to have to write my professors' thesis papers that they dictate then a Wiki Article, for when they want to publish things... And that only if I get into a Master's or Doctorate program." She gave a half a shrug. The half question made Seren glance out the window for a moment. "Yeah... Power is still out, though, and we haven't heard about... the convict... So maybe, with the storm quiet, now's a good time to go to bed?"

Dictating someone else's words sounded awful. She would rather write down her own words. Was that all grad school was, spitting out someone else's ideas and letting them take credit for the whole thing? Why did anyone want to do that, then? Delilah scrunched her nose at that idea but didn't necessarily say anything about it. After all, if she was trying to make friends, she didn't want to offend said new friend, and saying that going to school just to write some other dude's papers was kind of offensive, right? She wasn't totally sure but, "I hope you get into a program! You seem pretty smart, I mean, you're smarter than me." Then again, most people were smarter than someone who only had an understanding of what happened over the last few months or so. She was glad that some of her knowledge seemed to be embedded somewhere else in her head, however that worked, or she'd be in trouble... In some ways, Delilah wanted to head home before the storm came roaring back, but in most ways, she wanted to be able to say she slept over at someone else's house because that meant she was making friends, right? And that was really all Delilah wanted to do -- "Yeah, probably! Before the storm comes back." She finished up the third brownie she ate, opting to not take another. Three was enough, for now, she was sure, especially if they were both just going to bed anyway. No one else was gonna take her brownies! "Hopefully they find the convict soon..."

Seren tilted her head, curiously, at the nose scrunch. Had something she said bothered her companion? She was not sure... But the other girl did not get annoyed or anything, so maybe it was just something she wasn't into but not too bothered by. "Thank you. I don't know that I'm smarter... Just more educated, perhaps, since I'm getting close to graduation, and the stuff we've been working on is more my field. I don't think I'd get any of that comm stuff you do." She shrugged a little, and smiled. "Different strokes and all!" She knew there were people who were smarter and people who were dumber... But she did not get the feeling that Delilah was dumb. She felt the girl just was inexperienced or something, with how she seemed so... innocent and enthusiastic. "Alright, lemme wrap up the brownies and put them away, so my roommates don't think I left them out for Open Season." She stood up, and carried the baking pan to the kitchen, with one hand, the other carrying the little lantern. She got it all put up, then came back and led Delilah upstairs, into her room. She shut the curtains, tight, then said "My PJs are all in the lower left drawer of the bigger chest, so feel free to grab any pair in there." She grabbed a set herself, then went to the door to her bathroom. "Be right back!" She darted in, to change, not wanting the other girl to get a glimpse of her back. Her tattoo was so close to done, but some of the scars were still visible. She was out in a few minutes, and her half an inch shy of floor length hair had been let out of it's braid. She put her dirties in her laundry basket, then wandered over to the queen size bed.

Honestly, Delilah barely understood the comms stuff she did. She was mostly doing it because she was part of Argent Industries and she was fairly sure that doing stuff with communications would make her superiors proud of her. And it allowed her to get the college experience that most people her age were apparently supposed to be getting. And she liked it! She especially liked joining organizations and meeting new people-- Seren putting the brownies away made her grin. Then no one else would take them for sure! They were all hers! And Seren's, of course, but all hers. She waited for Seren to put everything away before following her up the stairs. The room was actually pretty nice. It wasn't her room, but it was still a nice room. She'd enjoy sleeping in it for a night for a sleepover. That was a new experience! Her pajamas were all in the lower left drawer? How many did she have? Delilah walked over to the drawer when Seren left the room, staring in wonder at how many clothes were available. Which one did she want? It was hard to make out coloration in this poor lantern lighting, but she eventually decided to go with one that looked like it might have been a purple shade. Delilah liked purple, after all. By the time Seren came back, Delilah had actually managed to put on the new pajamas, even if the pants were just a bit long on her. They weren't as long on her as Seren's hair was long, though, and Delilah's eyes widened in surprise when she saw it. That looked like her hair when she transformed! She didn't know anyone actually kept their hair that long. She had guessed Seren's hair was long when it was braided long but she didn't realize just how long-- "Your hair's pretty," offered Delilah, sounding awed for a moment, before feeling silly after giving that compliment. Right... She shook her head at herself, glancing to the bed. "So, sleep now? Before it starts thundering again I think..."

Seren's PJs would all be in shades of blue, black, or purple, if they weren't a celestial print, which probably did not make it too easy to choose between them in that lighting, but they were organized by color. If Delilah had looked closer, she might have noticed that there were MULTIPLE of each set, which was why there were so many... Stocking up when things she loved were on sale was a THING Seren did. Seren smiled, really brightly, at the compliment, actually. "Thank you, Delilah! It's my pride and joy, and I don't ever wanna cut it. I love my hair." Sure, it was also her one piece of vanity, but it was something she needed, something to make her feel beautiful on the days anxiety and depression were doing the talking, in the voices of the past. Any time someone complimented her on her hair, it made her feel really good. "And yeah, that sounds like a good plan. I don't care what side I'm on, so you take whichever." She waited for the other girl to get into bed, before sliding in on the other side. "Gonna blow out the candle, now. Night, Delilah!" She doused the light, and snuggled in, ignoring the creaking sounds from the tree outside. It was JUST the tree, she was sure of it...
