He watched her for a moment, taking a long drink of whatever he’d brought for himself, perhaps centering himself. “Yes, Royal Senshi, it’s… they have ranks, much like we do, you’ve seen an… well the General equivalent of a senshi before right? The … little wings instead of a bow? The ornamental silliness that makes me amazed they don’t get caught on more things? Well… they have another rank, or, well ranks. They have some senshi, whom might just seem to be Eternal, but they can… they can change into Prince and Princesses. Castor is one such. Makes them a bit of a devil to find, since they can masquerade as an Eternal Senshi.” He made a face and waved a hand. “So… one more reason to be careful if you’re out and about.” He said with a small shrug. “Sadly, very little to do with Royal Jelly” “As for me….” he shrugged. “I am, who I am. Someone trying to re-learn violin and such.” He looked, for all the world like he was teasing her a little. “I’m surprised you didn’t just look for me in the database honestly. You just want to know my rank?”

Kalina shook her head. “I can’t say that I have, actually. I’ve only ever run into a few senshi, and one was this little thing, thought she was a big shot but…that was before I was really…invested any energy or time into things…” She was thoughtful. “I ran into this dumb blonde once too…but he had this magic that just…stopped me from caring about anything. Neither of them had any wings though.”
She gave a little grin and snapped her fingers. So much for royal senshi actually being good for anything then. “I’ll be careful while I’m out, don’t worry. And…I was just too lazy, if you don’t want to tell me you don’t have to.”
Not that she had even realized that there was a database to look at…that might have been something nice of Haumea to have told her but…
“I don’t think it will really change anything with me though. Your rank or whatever. You’ll still be my friend Zac who has a metal hand and a robot eye.” She gave a very over dramatic sigh and held her violin at the ready, playing a soft tune.
“Anyway, Mr. I want to re-learn how to play, we should get started before we die of old age. And before I gorge myself on more of those pastries.”

“They are here to be eaten, and because I wasn’t sure what you’d enjoy.” He admitted. “Just save me one of the little cinnamon twists.” He lifted the violin and tested its tuning. “Well… how about this, I can tell you my rank, or we can make a small game of you finding it out.” He pulled his bow across the cords gently in an experiment wincing and lifting metal fingers from the cord. “You’re call.” He offered. “I’ll do either, I just happen to, like finding things out I suppose. And I’m very fond of the tablets. They are such an improvement on the old system.” He took a breath and started again, playing a simple note string, as though he were just starting to learn. His fingering though was, hesitant.

Quietly she watched him, still trying to play it cool, still trying to act as though she knew much more than what she actually did, but finally she just shrugged. “I mean. Chances are I won’t find out. I honestly don’t know what you’re talking about. We have a database and there…there are tablets? I…honestly didn’t know about either of those I…We don’t really get out much, I guess. Hau hasn’t mentioned those things…”
She watched him play the note and gave a slightly encouraging smile, though still felt somewhat foolish and inadequate about her knowledge of…anything.
“That sounds pretty good. You’re using the right amount of pressure at any rate. I really think you’ll get your skill back, even if your hand is funky now. I think you’ve got this.” Kalina’s eyes were on his fingers, still amazed that they looked so…normal.
“…Will you maybe get me up to speed of things I should know? Because I feel like I’m missing a lot of information…”

He nodded, a slight movement. “I can try. I’m.. missing a few years worth of information too, but I’ll try. That was my specialty after all.” He offered a small smile. He shifted his hand, tapping fingers against the wood, as gently as he could. “General Sovereign.” He said after a moment, before playing a chain of music gently, wincing as he didn’t quite make the cords. “I… I think I have to adjust how I do this, because while they feel like normal fingers, they don’t flex the same. The skin has no give, you know?” He sighed, like the title he’d just given you meant nothing in particular, or like he was trying to remove the weight of it. “What do you want to know, besides ranks? Where should I start? What’s drawn your interest in our half of the world?”

“Your specialty?” Kalina looked confused, but a little hopeful. If finding things out was his specialty…and he didn’t seem to be judging her for her utter lack of knowledge…well…perhaps this would really work out well. At his next words she nodded, confused but somewhat understanding. He was a General…Sovereign…so that must mean he was important. But…still. “You almost had it there, I really think you should talk to the cats about the skin glove or something. I think it would help a lot. I think you’re really hesitating because you’re afraid of snapping the strings…do you think they could maybe…give you a less…sharp hand? I mean, normally the first prosthetic is the worst one, right? I’m sure they can do better the second time…just tell them a better description of what it is that you want.” If he didn’t want to draw attention to his title, then she wouldn’t either, even though she was burning with questions. And then, suddenly he opened the floor to them and Kalina grinned. “I…I mean nothing really drew my interest? I was…just kind of awakened and left alone. And I tried to do what the cat said, but I didn’t really care much. And then Haumea came along and forced me to care. But…it’s okay. Because I guess I needed he punishment but…everything I know came from him and…” She shrugged. “I guess he just likes to keep me to himself.” Not that she minded...but it was confusing when she was faced with things that it seemed she should know about. “Can I get one of these tablet things you spoke of?”

He blinked in surprise, “Hmm.. I thought they handed them out, but I will make sure you get one.” He nodded. He made a small face at the idea of her being kept to one person. “There seems to be a trend of that.” he murmured. “At least in that I can name two people I’ve met since returning that seem to be kept to one other officer, or in your case, senshi. When I was first brought into the Negaverse, we had teams, is that not still something people are assigned to?” He hummed softly. “Does, Haumea have you out doing training exercises? Or Do you simply collect energy? Also, I’m curious, what DID the cat say?”

“They might have handed them out but…I guess I never got one. I’m not sure if anyone actually knows about me?” Kalina shrugged. “I mean…yeah. He has me train sometimes but, it’s normally just to make sure I know how to fight, and he sets quotas for me to get energy and things like that but…I mean, the cat told me my name and that I was special and that sort of stuff and…told me that I had to get energy and fight the white moon and that someone would come and explain things better but…” She shrugged again, trying to seem like she didn’t care. “Nobody did, and so I just…busied myself to the best of my ability, got bored and then the next time I powered up, I found Hau so…I don’t know. Maybe I just had bad luck with my coming into things, but…I’m lucky nobody tried to like…bring me around to the other side, honestly. And if Hau hadn’t found me…who knows what would have happened. At least I’m secure in my loyalty…right?” She was. Especially now that she had more than Just Hau. And she had the feeling that Zac would see to it that she wasn’t so isolated anymore. And…that was a comforting thought.

He made a face at the mention of white moon but nodded thoughtful. It was nice to know that they had gotten to her before any of the white moon cats. It meant she hadn’t lost any of her memories, and since he was so particularly worried about losing his own memories, it meant a little more to him. “Well, I’ll train with you as well.” He said with a nod. “And whomever else happens to be caught up in my path when I choose to set up such a training.” He mused. “Haumea too if he’d like to have any kind of word with me about that.” He added with an amused expression. “As I’m sure sooner or later I’m going to irritate the dickens out of at least a few people by changing things. I’d offer to let you use my own tablet, but they seem to respond only to the person they are issued to.

Her face brightened with the knowledge that he would help train her. And get her one of these fancy tablets that he kept talking about. And…maybe she would ask Hau if he wanted to be trained too…this would all be fantastic and… “And eventually I do have to help you play the violin again!” She seemed almost flustered but pleased, visions of her getting stronger flashing through her mind. It would be great. She would be able to make people proud of her. Maybe even get Hau to kiss her for a while…wouldn’t that be a nice treat. “But, yeah, I want all of that. I want training and a tablet and…you think you’ll be able to change things? Not that I even know what needs to be changed but…you think people will listen to you? It must be nice being so strong and so respected. Perhaps one day I’ll get there too. I…enjoy when people respect me.” She gave a sheepish grin. “Don’t get it often from Hau but…I’m hoping if I keep getting stronger perhaps…that will change.”

“I can’t swear that I’m still respected.” He said softly. “I’ll have to earn that. And it may be that there are some who still won’t, regardless of what I do. But if I can find a way to make things better, even if its in some small way, I shall.” He nodded. “Wanting change, doesn't always mean things are bad after all, sometimes It just means they could be better.” “Like… my hand.” He said with a moment of inspiration. “It’s not a bad hand, I can do everything a hand should rightly do with it, but, it could be better. In some ways I’m sure it is better than…. The one I was born with even if I can’t see that at the moment.” He admitted. “But it could still, likely be improved on.”

She nodded, thoughtful, though her respect for him was growing. And wasn’t that what really mattered? She couldn’t control everyone else, but. If he was able to command the respect of Kalina Xantho well then. He had something going for him at least.
“I’m sure it’s stronger than a normal hand. And I’m sure that it can be improved in and I’m sure that you’ll figure something out, Zac…and for what it’s worth? You have my respect…which isn’t an easy thing to get so…I hope that makes you feel pretty darn special. I have a very high opinion of myself you see…and I don’t just go handing my loyalty to people out like candy. In fact…normally it takes someone beating respect into me like Hau did but…you just seem like a pretty decent guy with a good head on your shoulders so…I suppose…you deserve it. And.”
Kalina grinned and took another one of the pastries from the table, taking a large bite. “I’ll even throw in my friendship on top of all of it, so…if anyone bugs you or anything, you just call me and I’ll kick their asses.”
…Not that she figured he would need her help on that front but still.

He laughed, appreciative but surprised. “Well, I am glad to have earned your respect. I shall endeavor not to lose it.” He said earnestly. “More than that, since I have every intention of finding others to train with me, because I need to get back into … fighting form.” He grimaced. “I shall ask if you might wish to do that with me. Perhaps you’ll find a profound talent in kicking my a**.” He said amused. “But, did I win your respect with pastries? Or saving you from errant cat trees? Inquiring minds need to know.”

“What can I say, Zac, it was the pastries all the way. You know, if you bring these to training meetings? I bet everyone would end up respecting you.” Her tone was teasing, but it grew a little more serious as she thought of a more reasonable answer. “It was more…the way that you didn’t expect it. I know that you’re strong, and yet you’re hanging out with a nobody who literally…is realizing more and more that she knows nothing about anything to do with the Negaverse and yet…” Kalina grinned. “And yet you’re letting yourself get roasted by me, and even encouraging it. You have mad charisma man. Either that or you’re just crazy, I’m kind of hoping for a healthy mixture of both.” With a sigh, she glanced at the all but abandoned violins and shrugged. “Maybe we should wait to practice until after you’ve gotten the hand looked at. And please, sign me up for your training, the good lord knows I need it.” Not that she would admit it to anyone. But. This guy was cool. This guy understood things. “I want to be strong. Maybe as strong as you one day. Think it could happen?”

“I am sure it could.” He said softly, earnestly. “I couldn’t… tell you what I did to earn what I have. I frankly, I’m not sure. But I believe that most of us are...capable of this. I won’t say all, I think some would be uncomfortable with this weight on their shoulders. But most…” “.. though to be fair, I don’t know what anyone would think of you telling me I’m Charismatic.” He said and gave a grin, his face was flushed at the compliment, pleased but embarrassed it was fairly clear to see. “I think crazy may be more accurate if you asked my peers of old. But I’ll do my best to live up to Charismatic to be sure.” “Lets… give the music one more try, if that’s alright. It… it can’t hurt, at least not my hand.” He said and glanced hopefully at her. “And perhaps you’ll think of a clever way for me to practice my fingering. Sometimes we all need someone with an outside perspective. That’s all.”
