A nudge. Just like Rhiyn had needed. He paused in thought before he gave Dea a smile. “We could be that nudge,” he said. “I finally admitted my feelings for you. Maybe Tass is like me. But everyone knows he likes her...” He hesitated, and looked to her. “Did everyone know I liked you?”
Yeah. T’ye and Ash level seemed pretty scary. “No, he’s really, really bad at it. I have to ask his dragon for advice!”

“I know T’rel knew, cause he’s been teasing me for turns. But I think that was cause I told him.” He shrugged, and offered her a smile. Oh well. Everyone would know now, if they hadn’t already.
“Dragonriders are cheaters,” Rhiyn observed. “I hope I Impress next Hatching.”

"You never know, T'rel is quick to figure things out sometimes. So it could be either reason. And hey, you forget, I happen to be a dragonrider too,"she reminded, making a bit of a face. She reached over and put a hand on his shoulder though, she hoped he would impress the next clutch too.

“Sometimes. Like when he figured out about Tyila.” Rhiyn agreed, with a nod. The greenrider had saved Tyila then. And gotten a weyrmate out of it! Lucky guy. Demanthra was different. She didn’t need saving.
“I didn’t forget,” Rhiyn grinned at Dea. “You’re included in that.”

"Yes, that is a very good example of my point. Thankfully, he was there for her and has taken such great care of her. As for me, hey, I am not a cheat, thank you. I just happen to have an extra pair of eyes, which can see things that sometimes I can't,"she smiled.

“I’m pretty sure you just defined cheating,” Rhiyn said, and grinned at her. “You’d be no fun to play cards with.” He was quiet for a moment, before adding, “I love you anyway.” They weren’t doing much stargazing, but to be honest, he was distracted by her. She shone as brightly as one.
“I found my favorite star.”

"Depends on where we would play, of course. I mean, Monath can't see them when I am inside, so I wouldn't be as easy to see your own cards. And ooo, your favorite star, where is it?"she asked, hearing what he said. She smiled as she reached over to grab his hand, giving it a squeeze to say she loved him too.

Rhiyn had expected Demanthra to catch on. He hesitated at first before grinning. “My favorite star is you, dimglow.”He shook his head, and then looked up. “But I suppose that bright one nearest the red star is interesting, too.” He pointed to it.
“It doesn’t really compare, though.”

When he said she was his favorite star, a gentle blush painted her cheeks. Well, of course she should have known that, huh? She reached up with her free hand and lightly rubbed the back of her head. Clearing her throat a moment, she looked over to him, kissing his cheek.
"I am sorry, I should have known,"she said softly.

Oh? She’d yaken the dimglow comment seriously, then? “I was teasing,” he said, before moving to kiss her cheek in return. “You make my life brighter, I don’t know if a Star is the right word. You’re not the sun, but maybe the moon. It glows and it doesn’t make things hot and miserable.”
He smiled at her. “I love you,” he said. “I’m sorry it took me so long to be able to say it.”

"No, I know, I just should have known you meant me..I guess I hadn't been thinking. As for the moon, I suppose it would make sense, I do try to bring some brightness to others. Monath says I am her sun, but that is because of who she is,"she smiled. She laid her head on his shoulder, looking up into the night sky as she did.

Rhiyn just smiled at her. He didn’t mind that she hadn’t expected his phrasing. It’d been a cheesy line he’d picked up from Harpers T’rel had spent time with, turns ago. He wondered if they were why T’rel had been so successful in his love life.
“After that island, I know the sun is miserable and hot,” Rhiyn teased. He stroked her hair absentmindedly.

"Hey, sun can do lots of good things too, you know. Helps the plants, gives us warmth, and many other things. And you got to remember, I didn't get to go to the beach, I was here at home. We could only be filled in by those who did go, like my sister,"she reminded. She smiled softly as he stroked her hair, it felt really good to her.

“It’s still hot,” Rhiyn said. He was used to the cooler weather of High Reaches, he didn’t think he would survive somewhere like Western. That island had been beautiful, but it wasn’t for him. “I know. You were busy with Monnie. I was hoping I’d join you.” He was always disappointed. He’d doubted he’d have a dragon even in the next few turns.
He’d been taught about Impression all his life, how no one knew how a dragon chose their rider but he couldn’t help wondering what he lacked. “Ionan wasn’t crying by the end of that one,” he offered. It hadn’t been like this last one.
