Once upon a time there was a princess… Isn’t there always? Who was locked away in a tower. The mare spent her days longingly looking out the window unto the world. She watched as the season came and went. She pondered what was happening to the world.

You must be asking yourself “How did such a lovely princess get locked away like this?” Well, let me tell that many a Prince came to rescue her only to find that the door was locked from the inside.

The mare had locked herself away in the tower; tired of watching the kingdom she would one day inherit become engulfed in corruption and hate. This Princess chose to remove herself from all that and figure out the best way to correct the wrongs that have been done. Her father had lost his way and she needed a plan of attack without him knowing. This princess desired to be free of the dark cloud that had taken a hold of her kingdom. And with a plan in mind and conviction in her heart. The Princess would unlock that door and take a hold of her kingdom and bring back the light and prosperity to her beloved kingdom.

Extra Information: I was treating this more as a myth type story. But I wanted to portray intelligence and independence with something a little different I hope?

There once was a beautiful princess, born to a beautiful king and his beautiful queen. She was the seventh child to be born from their union, and she had six doting, handsome brothers who loved her above all others.

They named her Almaia, the precious one.

As Almaia grew, it became apparent that her beauty and kindness would surpass the rest of her family’s. They would say that her hair shone like silver in the sun and that her coat glittered like priceless jewels, that her voice was a soft as an angel’s, and her smile could lift the hearts of the downtrodden. She would spend her days in her mother’s rose garden, weaving crowns of fragrant roses for her family whom she loved above all else, and mares and stallions from great distances would come to the gardens in hopes of catching a glimpse of the fabled Almaia.

But, there was discontentment growing within the queen who, until now, had been the most beautiful and most beloved in the family. When her sons used to bring her trinkets of gold from their travels, they now brought them to their beloved sister. Where her husband used to say none would match the beauty of his queen, he now spoke only of his love of his daughter. While mares and stallions would come and cry for the queen’s attention, they now only looked at the ever beautiful and kind Almaia.

The queen’s jealously grew into hatred, insidious and slow until it was deeply rooted into her heart. The sickness spread over the years until none were left out—her hatred encompassed her husband and her six sons. With each year, this hatred festered, fed by murmurs in her head and heart about how she was forgotten—how their love was so shallow and transient that she was now forgotten for her own flesh and blood.

And so the queen plotted to rid herself of her so-called family—to purge the unfaithful from her life.

On Almaia’s sixteenth year, the queen threw a grand feast in honor of her daughter, attended widely by their subjects and all of the royal family. The queen was insistent that she provide the roses that would the dessert at the end of the feast, flowers that she hand-picked from her very own garden. Only the best, she said, for her family.

And in each blooming rose, was a single sprig of hemlock.

The queen gave a grand toast and watched, cold and bitter, as a kingdom of betrayers feasted on her poisonous gift. But, she made a fatal error in her plan—so blinded by her own anger and perceived slights.

The queen had forgotten that her eldest son—the smartest and fasted and most loyal of her song--fasted during the spring solstice, never letting food nor water touch his lips while the sun shone. And the sun still shone, low in the horizon, so no hemlock had passed the lips of her eldest son.

The eldest son was quick to uncover the deception and gave a cry of warning but was too late. Almaia had already eaten her rose and fell to the ground, unmoving.

----------

Oh? Did you think this was the story about how the precious Almaia lived? Who was stowed away to safety by her beloved brother or locked away by their mad mother, alive but alone?

No, this is the story about Athaliah, the mad queen, who killed her daughter, husband, and five sons in a jealous rage. This is the story about her eldest son, now king, who struck down his murderous mother. This is the story about how love stayed his hand from the killing blow, how love drove him to lock her away in a tower—alone and forgotten. This is the story about how he still sends her crowns of roses and in each bloom, a sprig of hemlock.

This is the story about how Athaliah, the mad and beautiful queen locked in her tower prison, waits.

And waits.

And…

Entry: It’s about 1.1k words and if that’s too long then I can edit it. Not sure if that’s too long, and I apologize if it is. Spoiled because of that.
The tower. It was empty, standing there, without any form of life. Even the plants that surrounded it stayed away. But it was though it had always been there. Only a door was there to the inside, which was pitch black. There was no information on it, nothing that was told of how it was built, what it’s purpose was, or if there was anyone or anything that lived in it. It just was.

Because of this, in the settlement near the tower, it was often considered just a part of the surrounding area. But since there were no signs of life surrounding the tower, only life that was circled it starting about 100 feet away, those that lived in the settlement believed it to be cursed, and warned all of their children to stay away from it. Who knew what would happen if one were to go in it after all? Of course there were those who were curious, those who would take bets from others to go inside of the structure, but none ever made it to the door of the tower. All of them became too scared. Something didn’t feel right about the place, and so they would all leave, their heads hung low, and giving whatever they needed to when they lost their bets. No one made fun of them though. The ones who even tried it were overconfident, and often times the bets were made only to show that the tower was not to be disturbed.

Until, many years later, one mare was brave enough to try it out for herself

Her name was Gloriosa Lily, though it was often shortened to Gloria. Gloria was the daughter of a wealthy man within the herd, their family having the most wealth and power within it. They were the ones who controlled the herd secretly. While most suspected the family was truly in power, since the settlement, growing every year, everyone decided to ignore it, since the family made sure that there was enough for everyone. The Lily family just got most of the cut.

Gloria herself was quite haughty and obsessed with her looks. She was a beautiful opal-colored mare who had most of the single and not-so-single stallions after her and believed that she could do everything and anything with her family’s power. It was true too. What she wanted, she got, and others often resented her for it. Her father, while greedy, truly did care for the herd, and often chastised her, saying that she would one day end up paying for her selfishness and overconfidence. She would just laugh.

One day though, many of the members of the herd had had enough of her and decided that they needed to do something about her. They talked about it for a bit, running over many ideas, until another mare, one who was very jealous of Gloria, suggested the tower.

At first the others had gasped! “Nonsense! That place is cursed!” “We only want to scare her! Not get her killed!” “No one deserves that!” They all exclaimed, but the mare only smiled through it all. When their objections died down, she said, “Well, we don’t know if it will really hurt her. After all, anyone who has tried to go into the tower have all made it back, even if they haven’t gone through the door. It could just be a creepy place, and I’m sure if she went it she would be scared out of her wits! And maybe her ego would be knocked down a step or two. After all, what has she done for us?” The others thought about it for a while. The legend had stopped being quite so dangerous. No one had died going into the tower that they knew of. At this point, it was just a place that you weren’t supposed to go and everyone followed that rule.

They decided that the mare had a point and agreed to give the challenge to Gloria. If she accepted it, then all would be well. If she did not, they would just have to come up with something else.

And so, on a sunny spring day, the mare trotted up to Gloria, who was flirting with one of the taken stallions, and said, “Gloria, some people are starting to doubt your abilities. Are you sure you can do everything you say you can?” The stallion looked surprised, and Gloria stomped with one of her hooves. “Who is saying that? Tell me!” The mare, looking nonplussed, continued. “Really Gloria, it’s as though you actually believe what they’re saying with a reaction like that.” Gloria glared. The mare went on, “They were even saying that you wouldn’t be able to make it into the tower. If you are truly the mare that you say that you are, you’d be able to take a few measly steps into that tower wouldn’t you?” Gloria was seeing red at this point, and before she could stop herself yelled out, “Of course I can! It’s just a measly tower!”

The other mare grinned. “Well then, you wouldn’t mind proving it would you? Let’s go over to the tower right now. There are a few others who want to see this, so that you can prove to them that they shouldn’t doubt you.” “Lead on then.” Gloria growled, following the other to the tower where a dozen or so members of the herd were waiting. One of them yelled out, “Let’s see how brave she really is!” And others encouraged the shouting, adding in their own comments.

Gloria looked at the tower and thought for a second about not going through with this bet. But as the others yelled out, she couldn’t help but be pressured by their cries, and ran straight for the tower. The waves of dread continued to wash over her the closer she got to the tower. Still she continued to run forward. She ran and she ran until she had gotten close to the door. The others saw her run, surprised that she truly was going to the tower, and when she went through the doorway they gasped and yelled out!

The doorway had disappeared! The members were astonished! They hadn’t expected the door to disappear, only for her to go in for a few steps and get spooked!

It was as though the tower had been waiting for someone to step into it…

And from then on, Gloria was never seen or heard from again. The herd even moved to a different settlement, unable to stand being so close to the cursed tower. Eventually, even her name was forgotten, the Lily family seemingly cursed after Gloria had left, and they lost their fortune.

Extra Information: She will eventually get out of the tower, but she will be changed because of it (into the form that is for the contest). The magic inside of the tower will have changed her, and because she has been trapped, she will have a change in personality too. She will still be confident, but not how she was, and she will have changed for the better. If possible, there will be a heavily involved plot later that will be used to get her out of the tower.

Once again, sorry if it’s too long.

Entry: Once upon a time there was a filly named Buttercup. She was curious, getting into many things. There were many bites from the animals in dens she'd poked her nose into, and stings from bees whose nests she'd stumbled upon, a few bruises from exploring caves...

And during it all, she looked her best, because who said you couldn't look good while checking things out?

One day, Buttercup happened upon a tower. Oh, this was a curious thing to find indeed! She went around the entire tower, trying to find a way in, before she resorted to possibly the most challenging method - She would have to climb, which wasn't easy with hooves. But by god was she going to try!

Returning to the nearest town, Buttercub obtained plenty of strong, sturdy rope and a grappling hook, and returned to the tower. With a well-aimed toss, she sent the hook into a window of the tower, and with some careful work, began to climb. It was difficult, because of course, she had hooves, hooves were not meant to climb with like this. But she did it! She reached the window, and climbed in...

And found a dusty room with old furniture. How boring... But oh was Buttercup tired! She found some old cloth to make into a bed, dusting it out, and settled down for a good nap.

When she awoke, the moon shone in the window, though didn't provide much light. She stumbled around, only to trip on the grappling hook. With a clatter and a clang as it was kicked around, it went right out the window! Buttercup leaned out, watching in horror as her only way down fell. Oh, bollocks...

And so, Buttercup, curious about things, was stuck in a tower. She got some birds to bring her food, and has spent every day since at the window, calling for help.
Extra Information: Eventually a dashing winged mare will come and save her! Also her name may or may not come from The Princess Bride... -Cough-

Icy eyes stared bitterly at the earth below. Everything she could see was hers, yet here she was, kept from all that she owned. The pale pink mare tamped a cloven hoof at the thought. It seemed as if she had been stuck here so long, "to learn a lesson," they'd said. Although it was so long ago, she remembered it as if it were only yesterday...

Rosalina had been born to a benevolent king and his sickly-sweet queen. Everything they did was "for the good of the kingdom and everyone in it." Just the thought of it made her roll her eyes. Such power, such potential, and yet her daft parents squandered it. While still a child, she was taught about fairness and goodness and what was best for everyone, but what about what was best for her? While the king and queen had their sights set on goodness, their little heir focused on gems and jewels and how she could get more.
"More, more, more," her father had said. "Given the world and you're always wanting more."
"But what's wrong with more?!" Her answer left the royal couple less than enthused, which set her out on her first little 'lesson.'
When living among the poorest in her kingdom, Rosalina's only task was to hide her royal identity. "It will teach you to be humble," her father had said. When he sent someone to collect her from her lesson, however, they were shocked to see their pretty little princess barking out orders, standing in a circle of flowers, her every whim being catered to. "I'll be your queen some day," she'd been heard saying, "so if you're nice to me, maybe I'll remember."
This displeased the king, who snatched her away from the common-folk to send her out for another lesson. This time, her clever father decided to give the princess her own kingdom; a smaller one, of course. He'd hoped that if she continued with her antics, the kingdom would collapse and turn against her. "It will teach you to put others before yourself," he'd said.
This, too, failed. Upon returning to his daughter, he discovered much of the same as before. Although the mini-kingdom showed no true love for the princess, she did not seem to care. So long as she got what she wanted, Rosalina seemed rather content, regardless of the utter unhappiness of those who surrounded her.
Frustrated and out of sorts, the king grew desperate. "Maybe having nobody to fawn over your title will teach you to be appreciative," he said sadly, for although he knew what his daughter was, he loved her so and it pained him to do this.
"Appreciative," she mocked as she peered out her only window. "Oh, Daddy, I'll show you 'appreciative.' Don't worry, Daddy. I've learned." She grinned wickedly, watching the convoy intently as it slowly approached her lonely tower. "I've learned that I need to be rid of you and your stupid lessons..." With this, she mustered up the best tears she could in preparation of her impending freedom and title change. "Queen Rosalina," she thought. "It's got such a nice ring to it."
Extra Information: Basically, she's a brat. XD Maybe someday she'll be able to find a lesson that'll actually stick?

There is a time in a young colt's life when his eyes fill his head with heat and passion. When it came to Jilaiya, it seemed those eyes filled with over whelming passion, no matter the age or circumstance. In her presence, it seemed all stallions, even some mares, would lose themselves to her.

And she enjoyed every second of it.

Her father knew of the pain his only daughter could cause. It weighed heavy on his soul every day she grew older. Every day a new stallion lingered his gaze a little longer. So, with his heavy heart, he ordered her to be locked into a cavernous tower. He told all his subordinates to spread tales of a vicious creature held in that tower, so that none shall be tempted by it.

It was never his intention for his story to become a reality, but his daughters own heart grew heavy with hatred. Each day she lamented over her prison, and each night she vowed to take revenge for the time taken from her. She would be what her father was so afraid of. She would make damn sure she did.

When she finally escaped this dark prison, she would make sure she captured every stallions heart and bottle it up till there was nothing but her and her alone. She would travel the land and learn ways to enhance her already near perfect beauty. And in the end, she would laugh into her fathers eyes as the light left them.

Entry: Well, of course she had woken up within the tower. It had lost its door, apparently the door had run off to find a new wall to inhabit. That's what the tower told her; it spoke to her. There was a time when the tower had another captive but the pink and iridescent lady decided it was time for the tower to have only one captive. So she threw the old captive off the tower and claimed it as her own. The walkers below enjoyed their gift given to them by the Ulun'suti. It was an odd gift given by the draconic species, but they decided not to stick around afterwards when they realised that the door had run off and there was no one else inside.

She is now a hermit living in the tower, happy and content with her findings. Her tower was the only friend she needed anyhow.

Entry: Once upon a time there lived a herd of jeweled dragon-soquili. They were an extremely proud herd and were very selective about their members and mates. One mare among the herd returned with a basket she claimed as her own but she would reveal nothing of the father. Finally the foal was ready and entered the world, a glorious beauty she was with an opal coat and scales like pink diamonds. The witnesses among the herd mares were so taken by her beauty that at first they didn't notice that something was wrong... something was missing.... She had no wings!
This could not be allowed, what kind of stallion had her mother dared dally with and return with such a deformed creature? Her beauty was forgotten because of one flaw. The herd passed judgement; both mother and child were placed in a high tower. Having wings the mare was able to leave at will and at first she took great care of the child she named Bella Opal. Perhaps she'd hoped her care and wishes would cause wings to magically grow, because the mother was as horrified as the rest of the herd at her daughter's deformity. This of course did not happen and when Bella was on the cusp of adulthood her mother could no longer bear the truth and left the tower and did not return.
Since so much time had passed they had been forgotten by the rest of the herd so no one was guarding door to the tower. It took time for the last of the supplies her mother had tucked into the tower to begin to run out, and finally Bella made her careful way down the curving stairs and out into the world.
Extra Information: Though she was locked away Bella isn't completely ignorant of the world. Her mother taught her all she could during their time together, still it's a frightened naive young mare that'll be learning to make her way.

Entry: Not all that glitters is gold. Not all that hides is worth finding. When a light reveals itself to you at night, do you follow after? If you do, you'll hear a story from a maiden fair, in a tower so tall she might be her own star.

Do you ever wonder where the moon goes when she doesn't shine? It is said that then she takes a form not unlike our own to walk in the dark, her presence left behind in the glowing mushrooms. Here one dark night she found an abandoned basket and, feeling pity, gave it its own lunar light to keep the shadows at bay and a blessing that the child would be protected. She called upon wolves, her most sacred creatures, to guard and watch over the basket in her stead, and left the foal in the pack's care.

She gained many names as she grew. They called her Shimmer when the light caught her hide and hair, her beautiful scales and spikes that made her the equal of their teeth and claws. They called her White Thorn when she gored an opposing wolf that threatened her, for she exited the fight without so much as a spatter of blood on her. They called her She That Catches when she baited enemies with her sparkling hide or prey with her honeyed looks to come to the territory of the wolves that would devour them whole. She never became leader, but she did not need to be - she was a rank all her own, a title of royalty beyond and beneath her. She was Moonblessed - any description from a land-dweller would always come up short.

Should her family not be thanked for keeping her? The mare thought through many nights before the idea came to her. Over the course of seven moonsets, she gathered the most beautiful songbirds with her songs and sweet words, luring them in with the hope that they might help her with a beautiful song to thank her friends. On the night of the presentation, the mare gave each bird a portion of aged berries as a pre-emptive thanks, watching with quiet pleasure as each became more and more dazed under the influence.

And then, by the light of the full moon, she let the wolves eat them whole. She taught them the words and the intonation, the notes and the posture. And when the wolves tilted their heads back to howl at the moon with her in chorus, it was as though the songbirds were singing.

The absolute silence in the forest and the devastation of lost friends and family members pre-empted a search from a nearby herd. In response, the wolves and the Moonblessed mare retreated to a portion of the forest that had Two-legger ruins: there they asked her to stay safe in the tower while they ambushed the party. She had to stay safe - it had been their promise to the moon, and to break it was sacrilege after all that she had done for them. So it was that she watched her family tear and be torn in turn, the screeches of Soquili and songbird alike ripping into the night as violent noise. And here she stays in grief and in fear of being found.

Not all that glitters is gold: sometimes it is silver and white and pink. Not all that hides is worth finding: but isn't a damsel in distress worth rescuing? When a light reveals itself to you at night, do you follow after? Do you listen to the Moonblessed's tale and offer your support? Do you clamber up the broken stairs to check on her? She might sing to you if you do, and the songbirds that now chirp around you might very well need a lead...

Extra Information: Entry is a "mythical" retelling of past, which is just abandoned basket gets wolf-raised and helps defend territory. Moonblessed is dainty and looks the part of a princess, but in her heart she's quite feral. She uses it to her pack's advantage to draw in a target or be a distraction; the tower is one such ruse. It's hard for her to not be deceptive even when "off duty". Now that she's older she longs for another Soq's presence, though her mannerisms are...off-putting. She's Beauty's looks and Beast's charisma rolled into a very sparkling package <3

Light sparkled on her coat as she paced back and forth in her room. She couldn't believe she had been captured, and definitely didn't expect that she would be trapped here. She had evaded her captors for so long, only to be snatched when she wasn't paying attention. They had outnumbered her 4 to 1 and while she tried to fight them off, they proved to be too much for her to handle.

They had thrown a cloth over her head so she couldn't see and dragged her kicking and thrashing to the tower, forcing her inside and up the stairs. She felt a pang when she stepped, thinking it must have been from her hoof scraping on the steps. She wasn't sure why they had been chasing her, nor did she intend to stick around long enough to find out.

It had only been a day since they had locked her in and she was already formulating a plan. She couldn't jump from the tower. That would be too dangerous. She thought she might be able to break down the door, but it had proven to be a very sturdy door. For now, she would bide her time and gather her strength.

After what felt like days alone, she had a visitor. She had spent most of her time sleeping, curled into herself to keep warm. There was a light knock at the door and a female voice came from outside. She was shocked to hear the voice and not having used hers in a while, answered croakily. "Who's there?"

The voice from outside replied, "I'm coming in. Don't be afraid. I won't hurt you." She heard a click and the door opened, to reveal another Ulun'suti mare. She was shrouded in a dark cloak, but some of her features were peeking out. She reminded her of someone...

The stranger entered the room with a basket of apples and brought them towards her. "Here, eat." She sat it down and backed away. The pink mare stood shakily and stepped towards the food, but kept an eye on the open door. She was so hungry that she didn't hesitate to devour the apples.

The cloaked mare watched her with a gentle gaze. "You must have been hungry." The pink mare looked up when she was finished and regarded the cloaked mare. "Who are you? Why am I here?" She demanded.

The cloaked mare threw her head back slowly, allowing the hood to fall back. "I am your sister." she said. The hood revealed that this mare was also a sparkly half-dragon, her pelt was an icy purple color, her scales the color of amethyst. "I've come to free you."

The pink mare looked at her surprised. "I don't-" she started and paused. "I don't have a sister." The amethyst mare sighed and looked away. "That's what they wanted you to think. You are actually part of a very prestigious herd of Suti who prided themselves on their rare and precious scales and pureblood stature. The "elite gemstone dragons" they call themselves." She walked to the window looking out. "Only the pure shall remain, only the pure shall survive." She turned back to her sister. "That was their motto. Any undesirables or impures were either killed at birth or locked away. Our mother had kept us hidden because although we were born to pure parents, we did not inherit their wings. She was afraid we might be killed and so once she was able, she ran away, taking our baskets with her."

The pink mare had never known her origin story, only that she hadn't grown up with any parents. "And what then? What happened to her after that? I don't remember her at all."

The amethyst mare's eyes saddened. "That's when she was captured. They found her and my basket. She had luckily hidden yours away and was trying to hide mine but wasn't quick enough. They captured her and brought us back here to this very tower. She was so devastated that she had lost you and rather than subjecting you to the same fate that she and I shared, she hoped that you would have a better life outside the herd."

The pink mare took it all in. This was a lot to learn in such a short time. "And now? Where is she now?"

"She's--" the amethyst mare stopped, her voice caught in her throat. "She's dead. They made her pay for running away, making her a servant to one of the herd leaders. She and I lived here in this tower, unable to leave except for when she was working. She traded her freedom so that they wouldn't hurt me.
After she died, I took her place." She shook her head, trying to rid it of the awful memories. "But I finally escaped. I vowed to find you and had been looking for you when I saw them capture you and bring you here. I knew that it was only a matter of time before you would suffer the same fate as us, and I had to get you out."

The pink mare looked to the door again. "You risked capture again to come and save me?" She nodded in answer. "Yes, and my only regret is I couldn't get to you sooner." She stepped towards the door. "Now, let's get out of here before the guard comes back.

Entry: Once upon a time there was a beautiful mare who was as vain as one could be. "I'm the most beautiful mare in all the lands!" she'd constantly exclaim. Tired of her boasting the villagers came up with a plan to teach her some humility. Pooling their gold they hired a witch to curse the fair mare.
At first it appeared as if nothing happened. As the mare once more made her boast a crystal grew out of her hide. The more she boasted the more crystals grew and the darker the villager's hearts become. For the witch's curse was not only for the mare.
The villagers haven now forgotten the reason why they had the mare cursed began to ridicule her. In despair the mare fled the village and stumbled her way through the nearby forest. The exhausted mare broke through the trees into a clearing. In the middle of the clearing was an abandoned tower. With nowhere else to go the mare entered the tower and to this day in the tower they say she remains.
Finishing her story the young mare watched the foals surrounding her for there reactions. The foals started to whisper to each other before asking her the question on all their minds. "How does anyone know she's in the tower?" With a gentle smile and soft laugh the mare answered, "That's a story for another day. Now run along back to your parents." Once the foals where gone she stepped out of the shadows and into the light. Looking down at the village below the hill on which she stood her gentle smile twisted. Throwing back her hood she snarled and the sun glimmered off her coat and the crystals growing out of it. Soon, soon she would have her revenge.

They say she was found in a blasted geode, cracked open by fathomless eons of weathering and abuse.

They say when she stepped from her pebble prison, her hoofsteps rolled like a quiet thunder, majestic against the scorched ground.

They say that in the reflections of her faceted interior, one can see the past and future, but in the glimmering geometry, it is perilously hard to tell which.

They say….

That she was loved.

That part, at least, is true, you assume. The soaring monolith certainly lives up to the legend, the soft pink exterior blazing in the sunset, washed in fire. When you come close enough to touch it, it’s perfectly cold.

No mortal returns who passes through those doors.

You shake off the superstition clawing at you. As if crystal can take living form. You shoulder your way inside.

The top of the tower is open like a wound, and the final embers of day are dying in your eyes as you glance around, hooves making harsh noises against the solid crystal floor. Up here, the wind is brisk, especially as the light fails. You shiver.

Your breath stops in your throat.

They were right. They were wrong.

She isn’t living crystal. She isn’t living. Her eyes slowly open as the heavens begin to wink with stars, and she steps from a tomb of gemstone. Her gaze is instantly drawn to you, but she doesn’t look surprised.

“You should not have come.”

Her voice is soft. So gentle. You stand, transfixed, as all your imaginings fall away. Your hooves are frozen to the stone as she approaches with deliberate steps, and as she speaks, you can see the glint of fangs in her mouth.

No mortal returns.

“You were looking for a prize,” she quickly surmises, her eyes sweeping you with piercing understanding, and you feel exposed under her intelligent gaze.

“I am sorry,” she murmurs distantly, and somewhere beneath your numb shock you realise what will happen. Her certainty promises it.

She lifts a hoof to your chin and turns your head tenderly.

She is cold, like crystal.

Extra Information: I tried to make this a story that would conceivably work in Soquili cannon- she's a vampire, people have noticed she lives a while and probably isn't normal but can't put their hooves on why, and every so often unfortunate curious treasure hunters or thrill seekers find her and. Well. She just can't have them living to tell the tale.

Entry: This young girl made the mistake of crossing paths with a Stallion that has this thing about locking by pretty things. Normally in cages but this time the one being targeted by him was far to beautiful for a cage so he took her to the ruins of a castle where there was a tower still in prefect condition.
Once locked away the stallion goes to look for more victims to fill his cages. The beauties of the world that should be treasured in his eyes. After he has left. Little Miss sighs looking out the small window of her new prison. Wishing that someone would save her. Anyone would do. She wouldn't be picky at all and would promise something in return. What that might be she isn't sure at the moment. Because nothing comes to mind. After all she doesn't have anything to give on her. But maybe she could look about and find something to make things out of while she is locked away.
Never wishing to meet the stallion that did this to her again outside of him bringing her water and food. She needs those things to live after all. Sighing more as she awaits her first day here to end. It is too dark to see if there is anything to keep her busy in this prison of a tower now.

Roslyn hummed softly to herself, happily watching birds flit by the windows of her tower. She'd pushed the windows open early this morning, fresh breeze rolling through the room at the top, streams of sunlight sparkling through the leaves of trees and dappling across the stone floor. Her tower was her most favorite place in the world. It was tucked deep in an overgrown part of the woods, ivy crawling up the outside of the worn stone walls; in all the years she'd been coming here she'd never encountered another Soquili near it and she took comfort knowing it was all hers. After discovering it and determining it was unowned, she'd methodically cleaned the inside and made the tower her own, gathering decorations from the surrounding woods and stashing some of her favorite possessions here. Although she belonged to a herd, large groups were often overwhelming before too long. Roslyn had developed a habit of sneaking off on her own to regain her sense of peace long ago, so her herd was used to her coming and going and no one bothered following her anymore. Before the tower she'd wander in various directions, seeking solitude and quiet, and now having this tower to escape to gave her an extra sense of contentment and inner peace she'd not had before.
Extra Information: She is a Light element. Will find her a herd to belong to which supports backstory

Honestly, being a maiden fair was rather bothersome. Trying to go about her daily life was nearly impossible for Vivian. A trip to the market often turned into some sort of contest by two or more of the local stallions trying to best each other in a contest to earn her favor. The sheer amount of simple favors she was expected to bestow wasted away her time, and took attention away from what she truly loved doing, which was studying nature around her.

From herbs to constellations, Vivian wanted to know why everything worked. Most people wanted to know how, but she was looking for deeper meaning. However, every time she seemed to find a tome, some strapping young lad would canter up, offering to assist her, and taking up valuable time that she no longer had to further her studies.

She'd heard about the dragon, everyone had, but she hadn't thought about it any further. It wasn't until she was caught up in examining herbs, wandering too close to the tower, that she really took notice of it. The tower itself was rather elegant, and there were gloriously large windows, some with balconies, beckoning her closer.

Without really taking the time to think Vivian marched up to the entrance, calling out with a strong voice, not at all what anyone would expect when they first glimpsed her petite form.

"Have you any need for a scholar? Or if not, perhaps a maid? I can manage basic household affairs, and I'm sure I can learn whatever it is you might require of me."

And then she waited. She didn't really care how long it took to get an audience with a dragon, this looked like the perfect spot to be able to focus on her studies, even if she had to do some chores to earn her keep.

Extra Information: Vivian is a placeholder name because IDEK yet. She has no desire to leave the tower, though after a certain amount of time she does begin to range out of it to collect herbs and other plants, or to search for books. She goes out with the dragon's blessing, and those that recognize her dare not trifle with her, afraid of messing with the dragon's "property."
