Splitnose nodded with approval at her choice. "I doubt she'd turn it away right now." Maybe she would. There was plenty of other cats who'd eat it. They didn't have many elders left, but some of the apprentices were looking painfully thin.
She pulled his mind off it's track by her question. "I don't think.....oh." He had been going to say he didn't think he could be a queen, but then she clarified. "Uh, kits? Uh well, I dunno." Who could think of kits at a time like this? Plus who would want to have kits with him? None of the queens had shown any interest in him.
"I've never thought about it," he muttered awkwardly. How had this hunting patrol gone to kits? "Do you think there's any more prey here or should we move on?"

DawnBreak nodded and purred. "Even with everyone hunting and her eating first im not sure she has been full fed." She twitched her tail, that just made her thoughts of convincing this tom cat to have kits with her, all that much harder.
She curled her tail in amusement. "I think you would make a lovely queen." She laughed a bit, "Though i think the clan would get suspicious when you never gave them any kits for all their hard work of keeping you fat and happy." But then she flicked her ear in amusement. "Well... maybe you should?" She brushed under his chin in a bold sensual brush. She pricked her ears and shook her head. "I think with some of our best warriors coming back empty handed we should feel lucky to have this one piece."
She looked over the riverbed. "So we probably should head back... unless... " Yep she decided that he was oblivious and she needed to lay it all out there. "unless you want to stay out longer..." She looked around. "Its just us here.... And... well... I have thought about it... I want kits.... Your kits.... if you want them with me..." A little of that insecurity flared and she felt her pelt prickle at how bold she was having to be.

Everyone was working so hard for the clan and Goldenleaf. He hoped her kits would be ok.
"Do you think so?" He laughed. Him? A queen? It was a hilarious thought. "That could get awkward for me if some came questioning, wouldn't it?" He could be glad he wasn't a queen. Splitnose blinked as Dawnbreak brushed under his nose. Ah well... erm..... He blinked again to refocus. "Yes any piece we can catch is good."
Since he'd just been about to ask if they should head back, he started to nod when she asked, then paused. Clearly she had something else in mind. Splitnose sat abruptly and stared for a moment, with his jaw hanging open. "I..... You do? I mean, if you're sure Dawnbreak. I know life has been hard." Where had this come from? He shuffled his paws awkwardly a moment.

She nodded with a playful look. "You could always play it off, say you are just letting them grow a bit ore... Gonna give birth to warriors not kits!"
She smiled and nodded. "Yes Life is hard... but it has to keep going on."She purred and brushed against him again. " You are gonna give me Kits Splitnose... and you are gonna like it too!"
Well it was obvious to her where it had come from! And her hero was there for her once again! She led the way to a more... secluded spot. (And Fin xD)
