ohhhh, it's so nice to see an active guild.
Oh yeah introducing myself teehee
I'm Ecterine, as my username says, but ya'll can call me Bee.
I love art but I find myself in the grasp of procrastination big time.
Why did I join this guild..?
I was honestly just browsing around looking for someone to make me a banner for my guild..
I'd seen Captain-chan looking for one too and the curious George in me just had to see what this guild is all about.
I read it said traditional art and the first picture I'd seen was that one with the huge fishy and the tiny guy and I thought it looked amazing.
Kept scrolling down and to my surprise there's more awesome arts.
In a way it made me wanna better myself and stop procrastinating for a change.
It was at "Masters have spent around 10 000 hours on deliberate practice..." when I realized damn I gotta be in this guild.
(that quote also reminded me of this Leonardo Da Vinci book that I've read in the past)
I thought It'd help me with my future goals of being a professional artist.
Looking forward to meeting ya'll!

Never give up, Anna! It's never too late, I believe. I can relate so much with your story. Art really has a way of helping you relax and just be yourself. I hope the guild will help us both to make that our professional reality! <3 Looking forward to growing with you and learning from your insights. Hope you'll share them freely with us.

Hi Hyo! I love how your username is so satisfyingly minimal. So happy you joined the guild! I hope you like it here. I don't know a lot about animation, but you're welcome to create a thread for it in the Tutorials subforum and we can work together to gather cool material for it.
Let me know if you have any questions, suggestions or requests!

Hi Bee! Welcome to our little atelier fam! So happy to have you and I'm glad you like our home page. <3 *enjoys being called captain-chan*
Let's defeat procrastination together! lol The struggle is real. To start, make a DeviantArt account and fill a folder with these little challenges. I'm a bit swamped with part time work this week, but I'll join you when I have time.
Have you seen the anime Bakuman? Let's encourage each other and reach our dreams! "Written as 'rival', pronounced 'friend'."
PS. You have a funny cat!

Hello Canttel! Thanks for joining our little fam! I also think we were all inspired by anime to start drawing - especially since this is Gaia lol That said, taking a little bit of everything to create your own unique style is really the only way to go if we want to make it as artists out there.
Ooooh, I think you'll like the Draw A Box things I put in the fundamentals course - it tells you how to use constructive drawing to draw anything and everything by breaking it into simple 3D shapes and forms.
What's your Instagram @?

Hello Rose! I'll mind you in the tenderest of ways. <3 Please post freely. This is a safe space - and whomever does not make it a safe space, I'll sort it out. Looking forward to learning alongside you! Also, if you have any questions, please don't hesitate to ask. No matter how mundane. If you don't feel like asking in the guild, send me a PM. I've got you.

Hi Rukus! Please share where we can see your art? I'm ever so curious!
I'll work on the landscape course for you. There's a rough outline, so what you can do if you don't feel like waiting is to take every topic and look at how your favourite artists solve those problems and copy them. After about 20 master copies per artist, the information should become more intuitive.
It's also a good idea to go look at the masters of landscapes who are no longer with us and to learn from them via copy.
I'm looking forward to your creations!

Its about time for a introduction
Hello i am new here, i am an art student, and teacher i have been working for 13 years now and more, I am highly interested in this guild and your goals, its getting me existed about art again.
Here are some questoisn for you.
What make you an artist ? ( how i see the world and everything around me) What is art ( expression of emotions and the best way to feel that ) What is fine art and what is the deal any way? ( high level or art or Master work, why is it important because every one can do art but not every one makes it their life goal) What is your favorite things about art ( it lets me express my real feelings and allows me to show the beautiful things, that i see and share it with the world. ) how long have you loved art, how long have you practiced? i loved art when i was in elementary school, back then it was crafts painting and just having fun, i remember my teacher saying i didn't have what it took to be in gt art, i drew here and there but i found out about this art school and after allot of encouragement from my mother i applied and got it ever seance i fell in love it the art world. )

Pretty! Why don't you do copies from those art books? For me copying is a fun way to learn how to draw.

Hrm hrm, I like this.
What makes me an artist.... Erm... I don't feel like an artist yet, to be honest. I'm very hard on myself with training. So, to me, an artist is someone who creates constantly and devotes their time, efforts and ambition to improving their skill and ideas. One lucky catch does not make a fisherman. An artist is one who practices religiously. To be fair, it's totally fine to be a hobbyist also. Everyone should do what they feel calls to their soul. I guess I have double standards that way - I'm lenient with others, and very strict with myself. I set a goal and then give it my all until I get there. Every spare moment, I'll take out my sketchbook. Even at work. It's like oxygen.
In a way, I agree with you on what makes art good point of view. Becoming pro takes up all of my time and energy. I pour everything into studying and I don't take breaks often. When I do take breaks, it's to look for inspiration or lurk in the guild and get my next phase of learning planned out.
I view studying art as more of a "stop theorising so much, and just do." Some things I start feel overwhelming, but once I get going, it starts to make sense and eventually it seeps into my brain, becoming common sense. I love how I can take on something that I think I can't do, and then find out I can if I put my mind to it. In contrast to that, I'm always afraid to start something new, fearing that I might not have it in me to complete it. I suppose that should be a trigger that I'm thinking about it too much and not doing enough.
There's this flow, this overwhelming feeling of blissfully surrendering to something that will burn me up and give birth to my psyche over and over again. It destroys and creates me as an art student. We are creators and destroyers - as souls. Art is one such medium with which to express that power once we've learned the ropes. At least that's how I feel about it.
By the way, guys! Akida is now one of the guild teachers. Where my style of studying might seem a little overwhelming and workhorse-like, Akida has a more simple and beginner-friendly way of teaching. I look forward to taking his assignments with you all!
PS: Akida, I'm going to open a classroom thread for you. PM me what you want to put in the first post.

Hello- I'm Cassidy! I've been drawing for so long, mostly cartoon-y/anime things (though I have drawn animals and other real life things...) Mostly do digital art, but I really want to get into acrylic painting again.. Just don't have much time or idea of what I should really paint.

Goddess Rukus Hi! You can call me Rukus. Right now, I mainly draw character art or sketchbook pages with pencil, pen, and marker, but I'm hoping to learn landscapes so I can, y'know, actually put my characters somewhere instead of having them float nebulously in a white void. I also sometimes do abstract stuff, but I don't even know what it would be called beyond that. (The abstract stuff is more for my own catharsis than anything.) Most of my inspiration comes from manga. Kazuya Minekura has one of my favorite styles, and I like CLAMP's line work too. My main goal would be to better capture the scenes that are already in my mind, and maybe one day draw them into a comic. (I'm a writer first and foremost, so the characters already have their stories. It would be cool to have an alternative way to share those stories besides just words.) Anyway, I hope to improve regardless of where my focus is. :3 (You can find my art on twitter and patreon.) I don't say this often but wow, the very first drawing, it shows so much originality here, in this drawing, and perhaps in others you can find your style. keep up the great work.
