"I'll attempt to find the manganese nodule," Dark decided. Taking a deep breath, Dark then held his hand up to his mouth. He slowly exhaled. A small green flame gradually took form. The flame was harmless; anyone who accidentally brushed against it or poked it out of curiosity would only feel the subtle warmth the it radiated. Marker in place so he could find his way back, Dark sank beneath the surface. The mermaid's form undulated as he followed the downward slope of the sandy shelf.
Increasing depth and darkening skies above the water soon resulted in reduced visibility. Dark's eyes became two eerily glowing orbs in the twilight zone, but even he could not see perfectly. Reaching out, the mermaid carefully ran his hand along the top layer of sand. Occasionally he found a clump of rocky protrusions or almost disturbed a wandering crustacean. So far there didn't seem to be any nodules at this depth. A puff of annoyance appeared as a brief stream of bubbles which bobbed back to the surface. It was tempting to simply retreat further into the deeps in an attempt to escape the storm. Very tempting.

Ametrine, finally having heard enough, began to lower herself out of the tree she'd been suspended in. There were a few birds' nests up there, and feathers could often be traded to the right person, if they were in good enough condition. She extended her tentacles in a stretch, hanging by the lowest branch a moment, before dropping to the shore with a wet slap.
"Why you lot would care to divert such a glorious storm is beyond me. The energy in the air is quite palpable. I can, however, be persuaded to help, if there's something you can offer me." She nodded to the he-witch who seemed to be coordinating the efforts, toying with one of the many gemstone necklaces that hung over her chest. "There is a muddy shallows just a bit upstream where a good number of your eels make their home. I take it you would need one alive?"

Joy nodded toward the disappeared merman and the gather storm. "The storm is awesome, but also destructive. Many folk would be homeless or worse if the storm proceeded unchecked. I'm afraid I only just returned with some sea glass to find our sea witch missing. I hope she returns quickly so we can send the storm back to sea.

The cecaelia was unable to keep herself from rolling her eyes slightly. "Altruism. My favorite motive of all." She heaved a sigh, wrinkling her nose. "Very well, I'll go and see about that eel. I could use a snack anyway. I'm sure your friend will return soon."
Her tentacles writhed a moment, and began propelling her back into the water, where she promptly dove under and jetted upstream.
