I actually go church-sight seeing. I really love the architecture people use when designing churches. I love the old gothic style and the accompanying flying buttresses. I'd love to go to Europe and visit the famous ones, but until I can afford that, I just check out local buildings. There are two near where I live that are beautiful. Both look like castles, and both are filled with huge statues. It's the only good thing about Catholicism.

Have you read "Pillars of the Earth" by Ken Follett? If you haven't, you should. I bet you'd enjoy it. It's about the building of a Medieval Cathedral in England, and the lives of those involved in its building. It's my favorite book. :]

I actually might do that. I've been looking for a good read lately.

I used to go for quite a while. I liked my class because we rarely ever stayed on topic. It was hilarious and our teacher was very cool about everything.
I went to some events when a friend of mine was going too, but I think she's having some legal trouble at the moment. o.x
I don't plan on going again since I think the class I'd be in now has a teacher who actually teaches seriously.

I went to church but it was only a few times, and only because my friends went. I spent the night over their house and they go to church sunday morning so I was stuck going with them, I think I feel asleep like twice out of the 5 times I went sweatdrop

Same here! Although, since my parents decided I'm still Jewish by blood, they want me to do something 'adult-ish' for my thirteenth birthday. I asked if I could go to the Vatican--and they said yes. This August will be the best! biggrin

OOOO ME I DON'T GO TO CHURCH!!!!

The only time I've been inside a place of worship was for weddings and bar/bat mizvahs.

It's so boring and pointless....you just sit there listening to babbling people who think they can sing. stare

But, of course, it matters not if they can sing, as long as they bring us the Word of the Lord, right? xd :

scream GOING IS SACRELIGION!, no joking, if we do anything is it sacreligion? Really what can we do against our religion.
Well, since we don't have a religion, we can't really go against it. The only way an Atheist can go against his/her beliefs is if he/she started to believe. But then she wouldn't be an Atheist anymore.
do we have a religion should we consider athiestism a religion on profiles under religion I answer Athiest

Theists call Atheism a religion. However, I don't think Atheism is a religion since it is only a single idea. Calling Atheism a religion would be like saying not liking butter is a religion. It's just one choice. Ne?

Every religion has to have a dogma/diety. There is no ifs, ands, or buts. If it doesn't have one, than technically it isn't a religion.

Atheism is not a religion because it has no dogma/diety.
Sometimes simplicity escapes the minds of narrow theists.

So sometimes it is up to us to pick up the peices of the ill-informed and set thier minds straight.

The Notre Dame Cathedral is absolutely amazing. You definitely need to go see it. There's also one in Ortona that you should check out... they're both awesome.

To set the record straight, religion is...

Dictionary.com
1. a. Belief in and reverence for a supernatural power or powers regarded as creator and governor of the universe.
b. A personal or institutionalized system grounded in such belief and worship.
2. The life or condition of a person in a religious order.
3. A set of beliefs, values, and practices based on the teachings of a spiritual leader.
4. A cause, principle, or activity pursued with zeal or conscientious devotion.

Except for a very, very stretched interpretation of the fourth definition, atheism officially is not a religion.

Correct me if I am wrong, but I don't recall saying in any of my posts that Atheism is a religion. I was merely implying that Athiesm cannot be a religion because it does not have a deity or a god to follow.

I have a bone to pick with NO 4...which does not make sense to me.

That's pretty awesome xD
There's a lot of cool buildings, churches and stuff around here.

Atheism isn't a religion, but usually things ask for 'religious belief' or some such phrase. A lot of times it probably gets classed under religion just to make the form/survey/whatever easier. People don't like paying attention to details in general, but I guess if someone asks you what your religion is you could say you don't have one and then say you're atheist instead of just answering atheist to the question.

Both atheism and theism aren't religions, but you could have relgions that are theist or atheist. :0 We should start one. I can be your spiritual leader.
Definition number four is sort of vague and the kind of thing you see used for sarcasm or like erm... when people say someone worships money. it's not always literal. At least that's what it made me think of.
