Kail watch as her student slowly started to understand. She knew this process would take a while, however, she also knew that as much as she needed an aid, Yui needed a mentor. She had already decided to take her under her coils. Structure was fine, but this was boderline brainwashing. This student would thrive so much better at school, than at home, she could already see that. She hated hearing that she was just supposed to be an icon. A trophy. A slight hissing noise could be heard coming from Kail's lips.
She would look at the girl she was hugging. With the pit organs on her face, she could bring herself to the woman's height, and attempt to look the woman in the eyes, her tail still hugging, but her hands were on the woman's shoulders. "You are more than a trophy my darling. You are fire, burning, hungry, passsssionate. You are more than your name, you are a sssstudent at beacon, you will make your own legacy, not live the one your family hasss sssset for you. I know thissss because fire can never be fully tame." She was mostly referring to her semblence, semblences are based on a person, and the fire has to come from somewhere, which is her own Soul.
"Your brother ssssoundssss like a reasssonable persssson. Your Mother doessss not." Kail had not meant for this to be a counseling session, in fact, she had no training in such a field. However, she knew constraints. She knew expectations, she knew what it was like to try to be fit in a glass box. However, the only way to grow as a person, you had to grow, and break free of the box. She would go back to hugging the woman one last time, she knew she wouldn't be tall enough here soon to do it.
"If you accept being my aid, we can help each other. You for my ssssight, me for breaking out of your glasssss container." She voice would stay low, and in a comforting way. "becausssse fire is sssstarved of oxygen, it either goesssss out, or breakssss the container it's in." She would smile.

XXXBreathing was so hard... Emotions running rampant, her heart churning. It was all screaming to come out and weighed heavily on the walls she built. She was cracking, she was breaking. This feeling made her feel so weak, so helpless... It was crippling. Breaths grew raspy as she clenched her teeth, lip quivering as she tried desperately to keep herself from straight up grossly sobbing. What good was a Lioncourt that couldn't stand on her own two feet? What value did a Lioncourt have with a heart so easily wavered by the words of another? Mother would be so disappointed, so displeased... To know that her daughter was so fragile. That she could break so easily. The consequences would be severe. Perhaps so severe that she'd adorn another scar on her face. How could such a frail girl be the heir to their name? When she brought dishonor at every turn?
She tearful girl was forced to pull her head away from the support she had so desperately needed at that moment. Lifting her gloved hand, she'd curl her fingers and wipe away her burning tears. The Lioncourt had long thought her tear ducts had ceased to function, so her eyes were not accustomed to the abundance of fluid they produced. It stung. Her eyes would meet the green slits of one who embraced her, blue hues obscured by her near bloodshot sclera. "Is... Is it really okay... to turn your back on blood...?" Lioncourt blood coursed through her veins, meaning she was destined for greatness, but as a new face for her family. Whether it was her mother's conditioning or the complexity of her genetic code, the idea of pushing forward without her family's guidance seemed like an impossible task. But, it was the trailing words that really resonated. Her soul was a kindling flame, one that tried so desperately to burn for the sake of those lost souls in her lineage. For her brother, and herself. A low burning blaze that her mother tried time and time again to stomp out. It was the embers that persisted with each stop, spreading to rekindle the blaze. "... That's why she's trying so hard..." It was a passion, a will, a drive that burned in her very soul that was so hard to extinguish. She had grown close time and time again, but her father and brother recognized it, just as Kail had. It was a fire in her soul that burned like any other in Lioncourt tradition, one that needed to be fed. It was clearly represented in the untamed variant of her semblance, an extension of her soul that turned into a raging inferno that her mother wanted to contain. "To break me..."
Kail was right. That's all there was to it. Yui had a choice in her life, now clearly presented to her. She could take the road her mother placed so intricately out for her. To keep her contained was to snuff out the fire, to kill her will. Or follow the road that Kail and so many others tried to show her. To burn brighter than ever before, and break the constraints placed upon her. What was she meant to do? Though it was so obvious, that didn't make it any easier to break the cycle and free herself from her shackles. She'd bite her lip, not knowing just how far she was from flying free. But maybe, just maybe.. With Kail's help, the answer would become clear. "I.. I don't know if I can..." She'd whisper softly, accepting the hug one last time. She didn't know the next time she'd feel such an embrace and wanted to commit the feeling to memory. Ever so slowly, she'd pull her head back and look up at the woman. Still, just for this moment, she was taller. Kail had put herself in a position where Yui finally had someone to look up to, both metaphorically and physically. "But... If you're willing to have me, I'll... I'll try my best." Wiping away the last tear, she would nod up at her. Who would've thought such a simple meeting to discuss a lesson would turn into such a revelation. Now, here's to hoping that her mother didn't work to uproot the smidge of progress that was just made.
Kail would watch her student go over what she had said. She was enjoying the parts of the thinking that was said outloud. She couldn't see the entire process, in terms of words, however, she could see that the fire was stoking in this woman's soul. She was happy to see the fire starting to build up, even if it was only a few logs at a time. She wanted to see the full extent of this students growth. She wanted to see this student turn into a beautiful, roaring fire.
"It'ssss not turning your back, it'ssss taking the road lesssss traveled. Something great people do in their life." She would comment on that part. She didn't want the woman thinking that she was betraying something by following her own path. If she stayed on the path that she was on, the only person she would betray was herself, which would cause the fire to go out.
She would then comment that she didn't think that she could break free. Honestly, there was only one recourse for this. There was only one thing that she could do. "Then the only thing you can do issss try. but I think you will risssse like the legendary phoenix, right now, you are the bird before the rebirth, but by trying, I believe you can ssstart over, rekindling that flame inside of you." She then would say that she would try, which is all Kail wanted. They both were trying their best. Kail breaking out of the glass container that her disability put her in, Yui with her fire, that lacked kindling.
Kail would feel her aura starting to fade, she would bring her feet closer to the ground, as the tail disappeared from under her. The marks on her face would also fade as well. Kail had been so focused on helping her student that she didn't realize where she was in the room. She would look very confused. "However, your firsssst tasssk will be getting me back to my chair." She hated to admit that she was horribly lost at this time.

XXXPerhaps it wouldn't be such a terrible fate to step off the path her mother laid out for her. Though she must tread carefully, or experience the relentless wrath that was Eteria Lioncourt. ... Mother was truly a terrifying individual when displeased. Kail's words weaved together with sensibility, both her brother and her aunt had treaded off the Lioncourt path. Truly the most admirable people in her life, and they had taken the same path... Kail really was on to something. But was she ready to step off away from her mother's guidance?
Kail's words continued to reassure the misguided woman. Yui had so little doubt in herself, but the passion Kail had flourished before her gave her the faintest sliver of hope. After all, she said she was okay with her trying. Trying wasn't a concept in her family, only doing until it was perfect. But here was different... Here there was room for error, time to grow...Maybe she could truly start anew, under the guidance of her professor. Kail knew exactly where to hit, her imagination running rampant at the mention of such a mythical creature that she seemed to so closely resemble. Perhaps she had to be consumed by her own fire before she could emerge from the ashes as who she was meant to be. A rebirth that her mother had tried so desperately to prevent. Words had completely escaped her now. She had no spout about her family or her mental process. No no... It was a lot to swallow, but the only thing clear was that the woman before truly cared about her. A kindness Yui couldn't forget. "Professor Schuer ... Thank you, so much..." Her mental state finally began to calm, the breakdown slowly coming to pass.
All before vanishing entirely as Kail presented her with her first task. She needed to return to her seat... That's when she noticed. The woman had lowered so significantly. The tail had vanished, and Yui would find herself looking down at her... Such a silly, simple, but necessary request... It completely broke the tension of their mood and even caused a smile to crack along her lips. "Of course, Professor Schuer. Allow me..." Following her words, Yui would gently place both of her gloved hands on the smaller woman's shoulders. With the slightest nudge, she'd begin to push her to the right. "Two steps to the right, we want to avoid the desk. " Her words were soft, signifying her quickly calming nature as she continued to aide her professor. "Three steps forward, then two to the left." Words only went so far, but she wanted to be as communitive as she could. With the third step, they would pass the desk as she turned the woman left and pressed onward two more steps. "Now, allow me." With her left hand still on her shoulder, Yui would tug the chair towards her and position the seat directly behind Kail. Before she could tell her to sit, she would notice how close she had gotten to Bowie.. She wondered how the snake felt about all of this if it could even. In a simple acknowledgment, she'd smile before continuing. "You're welcome to sit, your chair is directly behind you. And if you reach forward, your cane is at the very edge of your desk in front of you." As she eased Kail into her seat, she'd step a single step away before crossing her arms in front of her. Pleased with her work, she would continue. "Is there anything else I may assist you with, Professor Schuer?"
Kail would smile. She had only stated the truth. Every option in life had two paths, the easy one, and the hard one. Kail took the path less traveled many times, and found herself here. She had no regrets. She couldn't even imagine herself being able to stay at her home, with her parents, begging for everything to be done for her. She loved the independence that she had at the school, even when she was learning her powers as a student. Yes, she did have some challenges, but those made her whom she was. She wanted to help her students get on the path to making themselves their best selves.
She then felt hands going on her shoulders, she would follow instructions. Two steps to the right, making sure to go on the wider birth of the desk. She would then move 3 steps forward, then two to the right, she felt around, and found her desk thankfully. Right behind it was her chair. She would feel for the seat again, before she sat down. This time Yui would be able to see that she kept her hand on it until she was fully sat down. Almost as a way to guide herself down, but also possibly because of some cruel acts.
Once Kail was in her seat, she would smile. "Thank you! Ssssometimes I forget to look where I am when my ssssemblence ends, and I end up lost in the room. I have to remember to take my cane nexxxxt time." Then Yui would ask if she needed anything else. Oh, her next appointment was one for the records, however, she wanted to make sure that the student was fine before inviting someone in. "My nexxxt appointment needsss, dissscretion. I would not like to embrasssss the persssson. Plussss if the exxxpiriment goessss well, I'll need your help with writing a paper on it." She didn't mean to sound creepy in her description of it, but what she had in her desk was a work of pure art. It was just a suit, but it was one that would allow a woman to be comfortable in public at all times, with such a devastating semblence.
XXXThe woman was sure to hold the chair steady while trying to guide Kail towards her seat. Perhaps Yui was being too thorough with her guidance, but she wanted to make sure that her professor got there safe and sound. Eyes would shift to see as the woman continued to feel around for her surroundings but would think very little as she supported herself with her hands as she eased herself into her seat. Because for Yui, she couldn't even fathom any cruel actions to do. Blissfully ignorant in that aspect. To her, it just seemed like a common precaution for someone who didn't have full sensory access. Once the woman would settle, she'd take her hands from both her and the chair... Slowly though, wanting to ensure she was truly settled. Then, she would simply nod in acknowledgment for her thanks. It was an action that needed no thanks, she just wanted to help her teacher. ... Before quickly realizing nodding wouldn't be a proper way to communicate, and she would need to be vocal. "Of course. It's what I'm here for." That's right, she was here to aid with any of the simple tasks that Kail couldn't due herself due to any circumstance. She was to act as a safety net, and after what the woman had done for her... She was more than okay with that. "If you demonstrate it again in class, I'll be sure to remind you." She would assure, not wanting to find her teacher distressed and astray again. She would surely adapt to the role of being her assistant with ease.
However, the mention of another appointment first sparked the idea that it was another student trying for the position. To that, she would instinctively frown. Her mind jumping to just an uneasy conclusion, likely due to the nature of their meeting and the twists it took. ... She had hoped that she would be the elected choice of assistant. Such negative thoughts were quickly tossed to the wind though as her professor continued. It seemed to be on a more personal subject, one that Yui may not be welcomed in the presence of. So... Then it might be time for her to leave. "Ahh... I understand completely. I will step out of the room upon the student's arrival. If you do need me though, please don't hesitate to call for me." If it was a touchy subject, Yui did want to give absolute privacy to them. After all, their appointment ended up becoming a very emotional journey that Yui would've preferred no one else had seen. So... She was understanding. So now, unless further instructed Kail she'd stand to the side until the next student arrival.

XXXWell, it was nice while it lasted. Their trip to the beach had been concluded for a few days, and now it was time to face was she dreaded for so long. Life at the academy. The moment that she and Eli had walked through the academy doors as a student, she felt anxiety violently take hold of her chest without any will to let go. Moreso than ever, Cali found herself so helplessly by Eli's side, shying away from every act of conversation and interaction that came her way. That's what Eli was for, to act as her barrier from the dangers of a society that use to rip apart her poor soul. Even though they were at the beach before, these were truly uncharted waters that she feared so much. Sure, no one knew the dangers that she harnessed within. No one was judging her, but that's not how it went in her head. The anxiety had turned every gaze her directly into a judgemental glare that told her to run, to hide... That she shouldn't be here, that she was making a mistake. The sounds in passing were overwhelming, whispers and words rapidly growing and diminishing. It became so overbearing, her heart pounding out of her chest. She wasn't meant to be here. And though she tried to hide it, Eli was sure to see her struggling and hiding behind his frame, in addition to how quiet she's become. He was her only safe place.
"I really don't like this ..."
Albeit, classes were not starting yet. That meant the two of them could escape if necessary, though Eli wouldn't make it that easy for her. He was the whole reason she was in this mess and continued to be the only reason she stayed within these walls. No matter how upset or distraught she got, he'd keep trying to push her on. Don't get the wrong idea, he was gentle and understanding through it all. He was just insistent on pushing her out of her comfort zone. A place she built with high walls that were difficult to scale, impossible to get past. By no means was he being terrible to her. Compassion and patience were in his nature when it came to her, and she knew that. But knowing that didn't make the matter at hand any less difficult. Time and time again she told herself that it was okay to be here, that she could manage just fine with Eli by her side. Yet the idea of coming face to face with another student struck fear in her very core, making her think back to her school days. Though long past her, would haunt her every second of the day.
The first thing on their agenda though was a special appointment that one of their teachers wished to have with Cali. Of course, Cali's own angst called for Eli to accompany her to the appointment. It was for the class that brought them here, semblance control. Meaning the teacher wanted to talk with her directly about her curse that was her semblance. Unlike the beach, every trace of her skin except for her head was covered by some means of protection, even if it had already begun to wear and decay. Skirt, thick leggings, socks, shirt, long sleeves, gloves, and heels. Not a trace of skin was to be exposed below her neck, but she would do so fashionably. Surely with Eli, he'd be carrying a pack full of backup clothes... Just in case it took too long. Until they were told to wear a uniform, she'd continue to strive for fashion whenever she could. ... One of the few comforts she could find in actually getting herself to go out and about, but something like this she saved for certain occasions. ... Such as meeting the professor that knows the traits of your deadly semblance for the first time and may very well expel you for being too dangerous. ... Yeah. Gotta make a good impression. That's what she kept telling herself, while so desperately trying to reassure her purpose being here. In her absent-minded shutdown from reality, time passed by far too quickly.
Before she could even blink, she found herself running directly into Eli who stopped in front of the room number that they were supposed to visit. "O-oh... I'm sorry... I.. I..." It was no good, she was in a complete and utter shutdown. Fabricating words was a fruitless task as she gazed upon the door. This was the office for their teacher, Kail Schuer. Something about the idea of being specifically called by name to the teacher's office, it was completely unnerving. She'd gulp, mind racing at the thought of what could behind that door. What were they like? Loud and assertive? Kind and patient? Reserved like herself? ... Judgemental like her old school? No no... Surely she wouldn't get expelled for her semblance, not here... Not the last place they could go. Cali was inches from knocking on the door, but her mind started yet another panic... Her hand trembling at the thoughts that raced through her scarred mentality before quickly packing away. "I-I can't do it... I can't go in there Eli." What would they think of her? The first person that truly wanted to meet Cali face to face. Would they accept her and her semblance, or would she be ridiculed...? "We.. we should go back... To the dorm.. A nap, a nap sounds nice... Right? ... Right?" Cali found herself desperately trying to bargain with the man. Maybe the idea of her being asleep so they could spend time together would convince him to go back. Just have them return to square one. She'd find herself leaning against him, trying to calm her immense nervousness with the one thing that mattered. Maybe he'd let her have it, just this once... Let them go back. But knowing him, she would never get off that easily. Especially at the first chance towards progress. It was the thought of meeting people, and their first impression that taxed her so. Maybe.. Just maybe, if she could get past the social anxiety of a first encounter, she'd actually find herself able to breathe.
I stand ready to run towards danger. I stand ready to protect the innocent and defend the weak. ━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━ ━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━
The trip to the beach had ended just a few short days ago and as fun as it had been, Eli was equally excited for everything else that was laid out before them. However, the same couldn't be said for Cali. He could feel the anxiety practically radiating off of her. It was nearly as toxic as her own pestilence that her aura emitted. She stayed closely tucked behind his much larger form as they maneuvered through the hallways. Every glance cast in her direction was like a piercing dagger to the poor girl. Each one causing her to shrink further and further into his side until any idea of separation was all but void. Anyone not looking closely enough might completely miss the sandy-haired girl, as she was securely hidden behind her own knight in shining armor, or rather, a spider boy with a head full of tousled waves. Eli completely understood the reason for her fear, He had been there to witness the harsh criticism of the world. He had put himself in the line of fire to stop the bullying time and time again. Rejection and cruelty had become more than a paranoia for her. It had become an expectation. But, expected or not, it didn't make it any easier.Understand as he might, that wasn't gong to soften Eli's resolve. He was here for support, a shoulder to lean on, but he wasn't going to let her back down now, not when they were so close. Eli had an unyielding faith not only in her but in her ability. There was no doubt in his mind that she could learn to control it and this was the first step. A meeting with their new semblance and aura instructor.
A gentle yet firm arm would wind around her waist as they traveled down the hall. It was there just as much to comfort her as it was to keep her from secretly running away. Her voice, so riddled with fear and desperation, was barely audible above the chatter of the school. "Cali, It's going to be okay. I promise. No one here is going to hurt you." He murmured close to her ear, voice calm and soothing, but with an underlying sense of determination. Eli was her at Beacon because he wanted to be. He wanted to he a hunter. More so, he wanted to help people. However, despite his desire to protect the innocence of the world, as immense at the urge might be, there was one thing that would always come first. That was Cali. Cali and her safety. So why was it that he was forcing her to continue on towards a meeting she so clearly did not wish to attend? Well, comfort and safety were not always the same thing. This was what was best for Cali, he was certain of it. If at anytime, for even the slightest of moments, that proved to be otherwise, she wouldn't have to beg to leave. Eli would simply whisk her away. If anyone at this school, be it teacher, staff member, or student, acted maliciously towards her or attempted harm, they would bear witness to a completely different side of him. A frightening side. If Beacon ever become a danger for her, past the ones they had knowingly signed up for, he would leave it all behind in a heart beat. She would always be his priority.
Just moments later they stopped in front of their destination, he door labeled as Kail Schuer's office. Eli came to a stop, Hand outstretched towards the handle, but a small bump stopped him before he could open it. Cali had run right into him. Chuckling softly, he turned to face the girl, ready to tease her for her clumsiness, but the expression on her face stopped him in his tracks. Electric orbs soften as he gazed upon her fearful expression. Her words, so stuttered and rambled. She was panicking and if he didn't do something to calm her soon, he feared she might actually go into a full on attack. As she leaned against him, Eli wrapped his arms tightly around her, keeping her close to his chest with his own chin resting atop her head. He knew she liked to listen to the sound of his heart and if anything could calm her, maybe its rhythmic pulses could."You can do it, Cali." Was all he sad at first. The words were simple, but filled with an undying confidence in her. He let the words linger between them for a moment as they stood in each other's arms. Once he felt the message had sufficient time to sink in, he pulled back just enough that he could look at her. "You know how much I enjoy our naps together, but you can't back out of this. It's important." Reaching out with one hand, he rapped quickly on the office door before any other talk of escaping could tempt them.
"You just have to breathe... This school isn't like what we're used to... Everyone here just wants to help, Cali. That's what were here for now, I'm sure of it." He said softly as they waited for the door to be opened for them. "Besides, you don't have to do it alone. I'm right here and I promise I won't ever let anything bad happen to you. Have I ever?" Lips pulling into a gentle smile, he tucked a stray strand of hair gently behind her ear, before sliding his fingers from her temple down the length of her jaw, tilting her head up so that she would meet his gaze. "It's going to be okay... and after this we'll have all he time in the world for naps. Well... at least until classes start." Hand leaving her jaw, his fingers quickly swiped around, poking her gently on the end of the nose. The noose boop wars were not over yet, after all, and he knew the action at the very least would hand distract her at the very least. Smirking down at her, head cocked slightly to one side, his hand finally slid down, lacing between her thickly gloved fingers. "Ready?"
━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━ ━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━ Power is not a blessing except when used to protect those who cannot defend themselves.
Kail would open the drawer next to her, even though she knew that Yui was still in the room. Inside lay a white box. She would gently pull out the white box, and place it on top of her desk. Then she would feel around for a file. She was in fact looking for two. One was in normal writing, while the other was in brail. She would find them after a moment, as she had made sure they were on her desk. She would reach into one file, and see if it was the one with the writing or the brail. She felt around, and found no bumps. She would place that one before the white box, taking the brail one in front of her. The files themselves were thick. The brail one a bit thicker, but that might have been because of the bumps.
She would hear a commotion outside, two people talking? "Yui, would you pleassse let the ssstudentssss into the room? They sssseem to be hovering." She didn't know how else to break the tension that was going to happen. She wasn't sure of what exactly to expect with this girl. She didn't know what scents this woman would bring in with her. She did know that she would shake this woman's hand breifly, which could be painful according to the records. However, she knew that if something bad happened, she wanted to stay in her seat, preserving her aura in case something got out of hand.

XXXYui's eyes would hover towards the movement that Kail had begun as she started to rummage through a drawer and pull out a white box. As she opened the box, Yui would watch as Kail pulled a file out and set it aside, then pulled out another that had noticeably different details. It must've been the one written in braille. Common sense also said that this box and the files within it were relevant to the student that was coming in. Not that she would know for sure. After all, she wasn't directly involved in this as an aide yet. Surely, the time would come for her to learn more and get involved with her other classmates and help them accordingly, to Kail's instruction. Until then, she'd be a simple aide to help Kail get back to her desk and keep notes. That might've been the furthest extent her assistantship would go.
In her watching and waiting, Yui's ears seemed to pick up on an exchange happening just outside the door. No matter how closely Yui tried to focus on the words, the door between them in addition to the distance made their conversation inaudible for her. All she could manage to determine was that it was a male and a female, nothing more. Her attention would refocus on her teacher who spoke up about the ruckus, essentially asking for her to break whatever kept them lingering outside. "Of course, Professor Schuer." With a nod, the girl would pace away from her place by Kail's side. Her footsteps were swift but calm. Pale blue hues focused on the door as she approached, before taking the nob in hand. Yui would pause for but a moment. Though it was against her better judgment, she'd silently press her figure against the door with an ear turned. She had to have just caught the end of the conversation. Why were they talking about naps? They were at Beacon, a school for honing your skills to become huntsmen. Why was napping even a subject? The woman would give them a moment, as the male had asked if the girl was ready. After such a meeting with their professor, she was much more aware of how difficult it could be to confront something. So, she'd wait a few seconds... Before the doorknob would turn with the sound of a click.
"Excuse me." In one a single motion, the door would swing open. Unhindered by hesitance, the motion was clean and behind the door stood the embodiment of nobility and elegance. Her voice and present seemed to radiate an apathetic demeanor, Yui's own habits to leave emotions at the door. Yui's hair white was winter, only matched by her large, ivory wings. Dressed as if she just stepped out of a palace, pale blue hues would scan over those who stood before her. It was a man, much taller and broader than anyone else here that was present. His clothes only matched his masculinity. Dark clothes, combat boots, and a leather jacket. It was a direct contrast to the small woman next to him, dressed in vibrant colors with an outfit that was ... Well, downright adorable. Stepping to the side, she would wave her arm in a motion across her chest. An inviting gesture. "I apologize for the interruption, but Professor Schuer is ready to see you." Only after the fact did she realize the words she used. Now aware of the situation, it caused the faintest huff of air to escape her nose. It was humorous. To ensure she was out of the way, she'd work to tuck her wings as tightly behind her petite frame as possible. Though still noticeable, it should've been a clear shot to enter the room and approach the desk that their professor waited at.

XXXThat perhaps was the only thing that did keep her from running away. The comforting pressure of Eli's strength as he draped his arm around her became her new focus. It became quite clear that she couldn't rely on the security of her own thoughts to keep her sane. So, she'd anchor herself to reality, just as Eli had anchored them together with his tender embrace. Even as the words in passing resonated in her mind like a thousand drums, Eli's voice could cut through it all. Nothing could stand against his radiating kindness, which would come in waves to banish the anxiety. But, it would come back. It always came back, like a bubbling ooze that would seeth and engulf her. It was a constant rollercoaster, to feel Eli's benevolent presence combat against the malicious intent of her anxiety. Truly, he was her knight in shining armor.
It was the safest place. His arms were the only place she could ever truly find comfort. That, mixed with the rhythmic beat of his heart that would work to soothe her mind with a calming drum that was a perfect counter from the thunderous thoughts that ravaged her mind. Each beat would get louder, and the thoughts would diminish. Tu-tum. Tu-tum. Tu-tum. Cali's own arms would lift to wrap around Eli with all her might, anchoring her reality in his presence. So long as he was here, she wouldn't lose control... She wouldn't have a breakdown, no matter how close she got. With each beat of the heart, her snake-like grip would loosen. Easing, calming... As terribly as she wanted to object, she'd even allow his chin to rest on her head. She needed this, that's all there was to it... It was only fortunate that she was so layered, so his skin would suffer but the faintest dryness... Unless he saw fit to push it. As she began to calm, he took the chance to strike with the most simple statement. Something that anyone could say, but it would only mean something coming from him. "You can do it, Cali." He knew how her mind worked, and he knew when the opportunity would arise. Only after causing her ease from the anxiety, would his words truly resonate within her. She couldn't even be mad when he rejected her offer, her only trump card... It was dirty to try and play that way. He could see it in her sandy gaze that she knew he wouldn't let her go. Such hues would only meet his for but a moment before she'd pull herself to nestle into his chest once more. There was no going back now.
He knew what was best for them, what was best for her. Eli was so careful with his words and knew just the sequence to get to Cali's level ... To get through her head, and actually make something of those thoughts. It was just so hard to stomach. The idea of a school had burned into her mind as a place of suffering, a place that her parents sent her just so they wouldn't have to deal with her. To yet another place that she was unwanted. But this place was supposed to be different... Eli seemed to believe it with his heart and soul, so... There was no way that she could say no. "... Never..." All he did was chase the bad things away. He was always there to protect her. She knew with every fiber of her being that if he took responsibility for her, he'd never let her get hurt. Just as she would for him ... Even if she wasn't big or strong. Even if she wasn't a shield for him to hide behind. That never stopped her from bearing the world for him, despite her fun sized frame. Not to mention if anyone ever came at him with ill intent, ever, she may truly live up to her name of Pestilence. Slowly, she'd take a deep breath. In... And out... In... And out... That, mixed with the comforting embrace, his gentle words, and his rhythm... She'd find her heart no longer tried so desperately to burst from her chest. By no means was her anxiety gone, but... She could breathe. "A nap after this... Do you promise?" His touch was so gentle, it almost tickled. Locks of hair tucked away, the tip of her chin lifted to have their hues meet. Her question couldn't have been anymore innocent, but it showed something... It showed that she would endure, and push onwards. Such a tender moment ... Of course, he'd use this as an opportunity to strike. She felt it in her core, like an arrow piercing her soul. The gentle, but all frightening touch of his fingertip against her nose. Her eyes had gone wide, horrified at the sudden unravelment of it all. "... You're a monster..." She'd murmur, eyes fixed on his gaze... She couldn't help but let the faintest smile curl up on her cheeks as she forced herself against him one last time, squeezing tightly before letting him free once again. "Thank you, Eli..."
Feeling his hand against hers, she'd let her padded fingers shift to intertwine with his. With a deep breath, her eyes would glance toward the door before looking back up at him... Her gaze was anxious, but with a touch of acceptance and understanding. "No, but when did I have a choice?" What little of a nerve she had would quickly diminish though at the sound of a woman's voice and the clicking of the door. "Excuse me." Instinctively, her petite form would firmly press against Eli's much sturdier one. Her sandy hues looked up to meet the palest of blue. It was ... Odd. The woman she gazed upon talked with such a disposition. The apathetic tone, absent of emotion, would conflict with the often piercing gaze she would feel. It was... An indifferent feeling. The girl before her appeared almost as if she was a doll, modeled to perfection, minus the faintest of scars that stretched down her cheek. The most astonishing sight though was the pure white wings that hung on her back. She had seen faunus of countless types, though never interacted. She couldn't ever recall seeing one with wings though. As pretty as it was, it didn't quite shake the feeling of daggers as the woman looked at her... To the announcement, she'd still find herself hesitating. Perhaps it was a nudge from Eli, or something in her core that pushed her forward. "Th-th... Thank.. you.." Whatever it was, her first step was slow, but the pace would pick up to an actual walk... Dragging Eli along immediately behind him, keeping her arm fixed in place to ensure he was within inches, if not centimeters to move as a single unit. After a number of steps, they would find themselves standing in front of the desk where a woman with large, slit eyes and a pink kimono was waiting for them. Cali had to remember to breathe, or else she wouldn't get anywhere. Deep breath in, deep breath out. "H.. hello.. Professor Schuer..." To try and escape the tendancy to stutter, she'd find her words slowing so that she could take a breath with each one. Honestly, Cali had already forgotten the name of their teacher... It was only because the woman who greeted them at the door said that name did she have any inkling of it... What if it wasn't even her? What if the professor had gone to another room or something? ... She already found herself at an absence of words, her fingers curling and getting into Eli's hand... Begging for him to take the stead of conversation, for she just couldn't do it.
I stand ready to run towards danger. I stand ready to protect the innocent and defend the weak. ━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━ ━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━
"I promise." He assured her in response to her request for a nap after this. After all, it was sure to be emotionally draining. This was a big step for her and she would have well-earned a nice relaxing nap. Eli didn't mind lazing about with her in the slightest. Especially considering that was the only time he could touch her without having to worry about the integrity of his skin. Eli didn't mind the occasional bit of pain and discomfort being near her caused. He would face it time and time again as for him, a missing layer if skin was all worth it. However, it was nice to just be able to hold her in his arms without having to count the minutes before a minor rash became a serious skin condition. The limits were necessary at times, for his own sake, but it didn't mean he had to like it.
Eli couldn't have been happier with her reaction to his nose boop. Not only was it utterly adorable, but as faint as it was, there was a smile, which was exactly what he had been aiming for. He smirked at her comment, winking playful. "Oh, I know. The thing of most people's nightmares. I don't understand how you stand to be so near me all the time." He stated with a chuckle. Truly though, the number of people afraid of spiders was quite a high one. He'd just gotten lucky enough to inherit the cool flashy trait, rather than what might be considered creepy and skin-crawling to most. Quite the opposite actually, seeing as he could have passed as human if he had really wanted to. Then again, he could be a shower off so there was rarely a time he would miss out on the opportunity to sling his webs around. The little fact that his weapon essentially relied on them only added to that eagerness.
When she thanked him, he reached up and ruffled her hair with his freehand, the other still clasping hers in his own. "Always, Cali. That's what in here for." The smile on his face was vastly different than the playful smirk that had adorned his lips moments ago. Eli could tell she was still anxious, but she seemed to have a bit more resolve now. She was breathing, that was a good sign. There was know backing out now, and she seemed to know that, but she also knew that he wasn't going to be leaving her side. They had been through so much together, there was no reason she couldn't survive this the same way. Just moments later the door was opened by a young girl who looked nothing short of winter. Electric orbs met her much softer ones, a promising the winged creature just as she did them. Surely they must have been a strange sight. Eli, large, broad, and masculine. Dressed in dark colors and leather, showing off a lean and muscular form. Then there was Cali, clinging to him like a small child. Tiny, fragile, and utterly adorable. However, despite the outward differences, they shared more than one might guess and it was easy to see just how reliant they were of ea ch other just by watching them. Their movements were always synced, as if it were some elaborate dance, not just a stroll down a hall.
Cali, to his surprise was the first to stop into the room. He didn't even have to push her forward or prompt her in the slightest. Maybe it was whatever leftover confidence his little speech had given her. Either way, he was proud, and it showed in his smile. Stepping past the white-haired faubus who was so very clearly trying to get herself out of the way, he offered a friendly smile before following Cali towards the golden eyed woman sitting behind the desk. Seeing as he was really just a tag-aling for this particular meeting, he remained quiet. Instead he took the time to observe the peculiar room. It wasn't the stereotypical idea of a school teacher's office. However, neither was the darkhaired woman behind the desk. Looking closer he came to the realization that she much be blind, taking not if the stack of papers in front of her with countless raised bumps that could only be braille. At Cali's stuttered hello, Eli squeezed her hand gently, a silent sign of reassurance.

Kail would chuckle at the seeing comment. She knew for a fact she wasn't seeing anyone, but she was going to listen to them for sure. She knew that she would need her aura based on the files, and she would probably need a new chair as well. However, it wasn't her personal chair that she would need to replace, so it was fine, people could sit on the ground if they really had to. There were also tons of trees in the room too. They could sit with her lovelies!
She had a smile on her face, until her tongue flicked the first time. Where Yui's scent was tolerable, as the scent of a fire was, this girl's scent was awful. She knew it wasn't the girl's fault at all, it was her semblence's fault, but she couldn't help her face turning green from Nausea. She would try to keep her tongue in, but that was impossible.
"Hello, Yesssss, I am Professsssor Ssssschuer." Her own faunus trait would show, as she moved her head towards the voice. She of course couldn't see anyone there. "Firssst, I mussst asssk you to forgive me. My ssssnake-like abilitiessss have caught your sssscent. If I turn away, I am sssorry. She would then hear other foot steps from behind her. "and you must be her ssshadow, Eliasssss Quinn. Pleassse has a sssseat, we have much to dissscuss." At this point, she didn't know if Yui had left, she hadn't heard any other footsteps.
"Before you is Miss Kiechner'ssss file from Ssssignal." Kail would open her version of it, and if the two were close enough, they would see that her version of the file that had no words on it, but it was in bumps. Kail would stay looking up at them, running her hands over it. "Do you have any questionssss?"
The entire time the teacher was talking, she would stare forward with her reptilian like eyes. Seemingly not looking at them. She would add one thing. "Oh, and pleasssse anssswer verbally. I am unable to sssee non-verbal repliessss" This would confirm that either the teacher was blind or partially blind.
A wave of nausea hit Kail again as her tongue kept flicking out. She was feeling unwell, but she had to do this. Calista's lesson was going to be different from most. Her job was going to be trying to stop a chair from rotting under her touch. She knew how hard that was going to be for the girl, but she also knew this was not an easy class for anyone this time. There would be no talking, there would only be progress.

XXXThe two were certainly an interesting sight. The existed as a contradiction, yet seemed to live perfectly in sync. Yui's gaze was one of analyzing, one that was meant to decern as much information as possible from the most simple gaze. She couldn't help but notice the particularly sandy hues focus on her in a similar way. A gaze like that could only be one of trying to comprehend what was before her. Truly, she was one to stand out, but only as much as the two had. The most notable detail was when the smaller girl tried to talk, it was filled with anxiety... Fear. The stutter was one she had been familiar with, it was the same vernacular she uses to speak to her mother with. As well, it was similar to the events that happened moments ago. Though, it was more due to a lack of understanding than fear. It was a hard subject to swallow, as she was sure this one would be. With her figure tucked to the side, she'd continue to watch the pair closely as they walked. The display was something unusual, that was certain. Matching steps tucked less than inches apart, and the girl radiating anxiety was the first to take a step. As the continued forward, her head would slowly turn as if it was on a swivel, watching them until they stood before their teacher. Who... Seemed to be having some difficulties.
The smile that usually adorned her face had turned into a face of disgust, with a green color that matched the scales of her own companion. Come to think of it. Where was Bowie? Yui was quite aware that she was supposed to leave, but found herself hindered by Kail's own wellbeing. It wasn't until she had explained to the pair that her faunus abilities gave her a heightened sense of smell, but was it really that intense? Yui couldn't smell much of anything from the two. At least, they by no means had a foul smell. Was her sense of smell really that strong? As her aide, she felt obligated to stay in the room in case she was needed. What if she had truly gotten sick? And... If a matter would arise that they truly needed privacy, she was right next to the door and dismiss herself.

XXXEli was too good at lifting the moment. Even after the treachery of the unsolicited nose boop, he could still bring the faintest smile to her face, with his iconic wink. "I mean... You're just the spider of my dreams, cause, you know.. Nightmares are dreams too." Now, was that suppose to be a compliment or an insult? Such a cryptic message would be left for him to decode, though he knew quite well he was far from terrifying. How funny that the one of a spider's nature would be so welcomed by all, but a girl as adorable as her would be shut out at every corner. There was nothing adorable about pesilence though, that was for certain.
How uneasy. Such reptilian eyes had stared so blankly. Cali was sure that the woman wasn't even looking at them but through them ... Did that make her presence here better or worse? As she walked up to the desk, she found herself hesitant seeing the snake-like tongue flick out. ... Then again, she lived with Eli's parents who had much more unfavorable traits of a spider, and she could face them fine... This was no different. The girl would stop in her tracks when she saw the sudden sickly green expression the teacher wore on her face. "A-are... Are you okay..?" Sure, she was nervous, but she could still express concern for someone. With her worry vocalized, she'd quickly receive an answer that would cause her pale cheeks to tint with a rose color. "I-I'm sorry... I didn't know... Uh.... " Tucking herself closer to Eli, her grip would tighten and her gloved tips would dig into the back of his hand. "Why... Didn't you tell me I smelled bad? ..." Her whisper conveyed disbelief and a minor annoyance that he'd let her get this far when she smelled most foul. It was on though since she couldn't smell anything on herself. In fact, she showered and even wore deodorant today. Every precaution was taken to make sure she was of a peak display, to try and ward off any unwanted attention from her semblance. Her flustered emotions now seemed to outway the anxiety, more embarrassed than anything. With a quick little nod, she'd shift with Eli to take a seat in the chairs before her desk, trying so hard to not let go of his hand. ... It was fortunate she wasn't too strong, or else his hand might get crushed in her grip.
Once they were seated, they were presented with a file that would clearly state Cali's full name, as well as a rough origin and other bits and pieces of information about her background. "R-right..." Thinking back to their brief stay there, it was honestly one of the only places they could go before coming to Beacon. It was where they were able to craft their weapons. Eli's, who was a brilliantly designed set of gloves that functioned in perfect synchronization with his semblance and webs. She even helped with the idea, drawing up very crude but accurate concepts. ... Knowing him, he probably kept the doodles somewhere to this day... Truly, he was meant to be a fighter. Her, on the other hand, had a much harder time trying to come up with an ideal weapon. It was actually Eli who even gave her a concept to work with. Something that was easy to repair, but could work well with a skill that she had long perfected in their childhood. Heels for her dancing ability. It wasn't the most traditional means of combat, but the dance let her adopt a kicking skill that worked well with her rocket-powered heels. Then, to make her a jack of all trades, the transformation aspect came. There was one thing that was consistent through each form, and that was the ability to replace whatever she was touching. The soles of the heels were long lasting against her semblance and would shift to be the only thing she held in any of her transformations. While she still didn't believe she was meant to fight like he was, he did make it possible for her. Signal ... Wasn't the worst thing, thinking back on it. Solely because they kept to themselves, as the dirty orphans they were.
Hesitantly, she'd reach her free gloved hand out to flip a page, which instantly jumped into the topic of her semblance, which was appropriately named "Decay/Pestilence." ... While it was true, she couldn't help but feel wrongfully exposed with such names. It was the semblance course that always caused issues because they were not equipped to handle the devastating capabilities of it. So here it was, written on paper to be dropped off on another teacher that may very well do the same. It was just how the cards fell, and Cali had to learn to accept it. Life would treat her with cruelty, with her only ray of hope being the boy that sat beside her, hand in hand. When it came to questions, Cali would shake her head... Sure, she had questions, but... Would she really ask them? Well, getting called out instantly about having to use verbal communication would say otherwise. She'd blink in confusion, dusty hues focused on the green. Her teacher ... Couldn't see? Her gaze would shift to Eli in confusion, then back to Kail and notice the array of dots on her paper. ... She was really blind, and though she couldn't see Cali, managed to straight up call her out. Well... Now she had to answer, didn't she? "W-well... I.. Er... Neither of us... Really knew what to ... expect from this appointment..." Her sentence would trail as she fixed her gaze on Eli, wondering if he may have had a better perspective on what they should discuss. She knew very well it had to do with her semblance, but she was afraid to face the reality of whatever it may be.
"Because my.. my semblance.. has always been a... touchy topic..." Well, that was the icebreaker. Now, where would they go from here? Well, aside from the bathroom. Her hues would soften at the clearly distraught signs her teacher had fought in her presence. "I-I'm sorry... I don't know what I can do to help... I've.. I've never made anyone sick..." It really didn't do much for her self-esteem knowing that she was apparently revolting to some. Sure, she had caused a number of infections for accidents, but never just from the smell of her. It was new to her... Did that mean she was getting worse? "M-maybe I should go..." Her tone was hushed, self-doubt sinking back in and eating up what little inspiration she had from Eli's speech.
