Juan followed Lykas silently into the gym, the man gazing around as he entered. Every time he came to 'his' old gym he got a little sentimental, and this time was no different.

"Excuse me! Please don't shout!" A beautiful young woman ironically shouted back at Lykas as she ran up to him. All the gym trainers here were a sight to behold, male or female, and that's the way Wallace liked it. "Can I help you?" She said upon approaching Lykas, an irritated look in her eyes. "The gym leader is very busy, you know. If you intend to battle him I hope you got some badges." She scoffed, as if the idea of this...person...having a single badge was humorous.

Juan had his back turned to them both, though Lykas was close enough to hear him groan in response to the woman. He knew Lykas could handle himself so for now he stayed out of it.

"I'll shout if I want to." Lykas snapped back at the woman a bit more quietly. "My father and I have words to exchange today." He informed the, admittedly rather beautiful, young woman. "I'd appreciate it if he'd come talk to me." This was said loudly once again, as if calling Wallace out for sending one of his underlings to brush him off in his place. Wallace had already made it clear he had something against hybrids and essentially disowned him but that wasn't going to stop this hybrid from getting what he felt he was owed from the pretty boy gym leader.

"Whatever. Wait here." The woman said with an annoyed sigh before stomping off over the icy field in front of her, and yet surprisingly did not slip nor fall through.

She would return shortly with the fabled gym leader walking behind her, both knowing just where to step, of course. Wallace was dressed in something relatively skimpy for such a gym, a one piece suit that showed off his midsection, the pants dipping just slightly down his hips. Risque but typical Wallace.

He would dismiss the girl before giving Juan a look, the two locking eyes before he did a flourish and a bow before his former tutor, Juan respectfully returning the exaggerated bow in kind. They did not say a word to one another but such flamboyance was enough communication between these two people. With his 'pleasantries' out of the way he turned to Lykas to greet him least pleasantly.

"Yes?" Is all he said, putting his hands on his hips and shifting to one side. Sometimes Wallace's body language was more moody than a teenage girl's.

"Yes?" Is all he said, putting his hands on his hips and shifting to one side. Sometimes Wallace's body language was more moody than a teenage girl's.

Lykas watched the young girl head off to fetch Wallace and, once her back was turned, he let out a small sigh. This was going to be rough. He could already tell. But he'd decided it was time to do what he'd sworn to do a long time ago and he wasn't going to dissuade himself from the task this time.

When Wallace returned and exchanged his fancy bows and frilly wordless exchange with Juan, he felt the cold stab of that one-word greeting. It still hurt to hear the man who was supposed to be his father speak to him that way. "I know you recognize me and I know you remember the bet that was made a long time ago." He finally spoke after a moment to regain his composure. "I got a bit caught up in keeping the world safe from psychos so I lost track of the time for a while. But I'm back to renew that wager." He explained to the gym leader, lilac eyes filled with a tentative determination.

He wanted to believe that Wallace would accept the challenge just as he had the last time. But knowing him? He'd likely consider Lykas' failure to return at the promised one-year mark as an admission of weakness and attempt to brush him aside. He was willing to argue that if he had to but it all came down to the older male's reaction at this point.

Wallace would look Lykas up and down real good for a long while. It was clear he did recognize him, his disdainful glance confirming that. Juan almost spoke first to break the silence but alas Wallace would. "You have been. I've seen the news. Saw what you did here in Hoenn awhile back as well." Wallace said in a nonchalant, unimpressed ton. "But alas my dear we had a wager and you didn't live up to it. Why should I give you a second chance? Just to disappoint me, again? They say beauty fades and yours is already starting to, and I hate ugly." He scowled at Lykas. Juan did not step up, this was Lykas' fight.

Lykas nearly punched Wallace square in his pretty face when the man spoke of disappointment. "I've apparently done nothing but disappoint you just by existing." He responded, anger welling up already. "Why should you? Because if you don't, I'll never leave you alone. I'll be a constant thorn in your side and you'll never see peace again." He threatened without ever really making a threat. He knew Wallace. Just having to look at him would get old for the man in a hurry. "Besides, I plan to follow the 'right' path to challenge you this time and go through the remaining gyms in the region first. It's about time I followed the rules for once in my life."

He smirked at that point. He knew how strong he'd become over the years and he knew fully well that he at least stood a decent chance of beating Wallace here and now but why shouldn't he draw it out more? Convincing the Gym leader to accept his renewed challenge was going to be the first step. Intimidating him on his way out would be a bit harder, given the infamously cool nature of the Water-type Gym Leader but he was going to give it his absolute best shot.

At first Wallace would grimace and roll his eyes at Lykas, seemingly more annoyed with him more than anything. Juan would also give a look but more of one of concern as if he was ready to step in and defuse this situation. It wasn't until Lykas made it known he would challenge Wallace the right and proper way, that is collecting the other badges first, did things cool down, the Sootopolis gym leader showing a sparkle in his eye at the sound of the idea.

"Well then, that's a pleasant surprise." Wallace said with a smile, Juan giving him a distrustful look. "Very well, you have a deal. It will be nice to see you actually stick to something, or at least I hope it will be." He said with a shrug, Juan just rolling his eyes. "You have my word that I will battle you if you come back to me with all other seven badges, as Juan here as my witness. Though it's not like I could turn you down anyways, the league would punish me and ruin my dreams of taking my beauty to the champion's throne." He said with an exaggerated and flamboyant sigh as he flicked his hair back.

Lykas had to hold in the sigh of relief there. He'd been somewhat gambling on that working. Wallace had never cared enough before for him to believe that he'd actually care now. "Then I'll see you when I finish gathering the badges. I won't give you a deadline for this one yet. I don't want you holding your breath for me to come back but I also don't want you getting surprised if I make it back faster than that." He told the pretty boy gym leader. "But either way, I think I'm going to go get started with Roxanne. Better to start now rather than later." He smirked at Wallace before he turned his back on the man, heading toward the door.

Juan would escort Lykas out after bidding Wallace a rather cold fair well, cold for even inside this gym. With them both outside of the gym and out of Wallace's hearing range Juan would speak to Lykas. "Congratulations, mi hijo, you got through his pretty but thick head." He said with a laugh. "I'm sure I don't have to tell you where to find your first challenge, senorita Roxanne. But allow me to warn you; since the little problema a few years back with those strange people and all that Shadow Pokemon nonsense the gym leaders have been working hard to become stronger. Roxanne in particularly went the extra mile and took it upon herself to teach and train at Pokemon academies in other regions. Just because you think you have an advantage over her type wise doesn't mean the senorita will be a push over, mi hijo." He said before embracing Lykas with a hug.

"Now then. No more talk. You have a job to do and I wish to see it done. Next time I see you I want it to be with you standing opposite of that idiota Wallace in battle." With that said he took off his coat and handed it to Lykas. "Here, hold onto this for me. I'm not giving it to you, mi hijo, but loaning it. You may be able to break promises to your padre but I doubt you will me." He grinned.

Lykas nodded to Juan once he congratulated him and spoke of the increased strength of the Gym Leaders. "That's not terribly surprising, to be honest." He admitted.

When the man presented him with his coat, however, he froze, momentarily. He wouldn't think twice about breaking a promise to Wallace but this? This was one that pushed him a bit. He had to pause and think -really, genuinely think- if he could take Juan's coat and promise to return it? In spite of the few times the pair had ever even laid eyes upon one another, Lykas considered Juan to be more of a father figure than his actual father had ever been. Hesitantly, he reached out and took the coat, running his fingers over the delicate fabric for a moment before he carefully folded it and placed it into his bag. "I promise to bring it back to you." He assured the older male with a smile. "I have only one thing left to do before I get started, I think..." That was to make a phone call to a certain someone, now that he was thinking about it.

He'd promised Abby that she could come with him before he left, he thought, so now that all this was over and done with, it was time to get that started. Pulling out his SNAG, he'd send a voice message to his adoptive sibling and then stow it once more.

Hey, Abby, have Claydol Teleport you to Rustboro City. I'll meet you at the Pokemon Center.

Abby teleported to the Rustboro City Pokemon Center with Angela and Broly riding her shoulders. But instead of Claydol, by her side, it was Rala. "Thanks for the ride, and for the advice," Abby said, slightly embarassed.

"No problem!" Rala said happily via telekinesis before teleporting back to HQ. With that done, Abby left the center and leaned against a wall near the doors, waiting on her big brother to show up.

After a moment longer to tell Juan goodbye, Lykas called out Mykel and the two vanished off to Rustboro City in a flash of light. Neither had been to the Pokemon Center before, though, so their arrival point ended up just outside of Devon Corporation's building. "Huh... I could've sworn we'd actually been to the Pokemon Center before?" Lykas questioned upon arrival. Mykel shrugged and followed Lykas as the pair made their way through the town until they reached the Center and, eventually, made their way inside in search of the hybrid's young sibling.

"Yo!" He called out as he approached her. "Sorry for not bringing you as soon as I left. I had something to take care of, first." He told the girl.

"That's cool. What is this about anyway?" Abby asked, as it has been a while since she offered to go with Lykas on his badge run. "Wait, is this about getting badges? I think I remember something like that."

"Ya, I'm doing the gym circuit here in Hoenn." Lykas replied with shrug. "Never done one before and I figured Wallace deserves to be knocked down a peg or three." He explained to the young girl. "You bring your hoverboard? Mykel can Teleport us to a few of the towns with Gyms but there's a couple we'll have to travel to with more conventional methods." The Gardevoir nodded in response.

"I don't think I've ever been to Lavaridge Town or Fortree City that I can remember..." He admitted with a small frown.

"The first gym's here in Rustoboro city." Lykas announced afterward. "You wanna come with me while I travel around the region? I did promise to spend some time with you, after all."

"Sure, I got it," Abby nodded, motioning to her backpack. When Lykas asked if she wanted to travel with him while he went through the badge circuit, she smiled wildly. " You know it! What are we waiting for?"

"Now? Nothing." Lykas replied as he pulled Mykel's ball from his belt and recalled the Gardevoir to it. "Let's head to Roxanne's gym and then, after that, we'll head for Dewford city." He told his young sibling. "That's one of the places we can't Teleport to. It's a little island in the southwest and I haven't been there in so long, I'm not sure if Mykel could Teleport us if I asked him to."

With the plan set for now, he'd begin to lead Abby out of the Pokemon Center. Of course, if she wanted to do or see something while they traveled, he'd have no problem with stopping and giving her the chance
