Noah made a face. "That's what he says, but that's what my mom says so...I don't know which one is right, but he is a bad boy. Sergei...that's his cop friend. He's a rule stick." She nodded, "Doesn't like that I ride the motorcycle with Uncle cause its 'dangerous." Dangerous was followed by a one handed quotation.
"Are you in a mid-life crisis Mister Steele?" She smiled at him. "All three flavors are good, If you get strawberry and I get chocolate and uncle gets Vanilla, we can share." The girl nodded, as if it would solve all the problems.
"How come you wear a suit?"

Steele was momentarily affronted that he wasn't the bad boy that all the girls fell for.
His head slowly revolved to stare suspiciously at Hurst, Steele's brows lowering over what he considered to be quite brilliantly blue eyes (and one of the few features of himself that had not been artificially whitened or tanned or changed in any way). "You know, you have an awful lot to say about the law when it seems you know nothing about it."
He did, however, smile broadly at the mention of his very expensive suits, because even if it was supposed to have been an insult, the fact that they looked expensive was, in fact, a compliment and a boost to Steele's ego. He hadn't gone into debt several times over to be mistaken for some common law clerk, after all.
His brows went from being lowered to raising at Noah's statement, Steele's gaze once again sliding to Hurst. "You have a cop friend and you're against the law?" he asked, resisting an urge to roll his eyes. "How very....unpatriotic of you, my friend. And no, I'm not having a mid-life crisis," he added, somewhat indignantly, because that sounded an awful lot like what Rob would say.
"Strawberry it is. And I wear suits because I like them and I look good in them," Steele said, puffing up proudly. "Why wouldn't I want to look good?"

Once again, Hurst went back to ignoring Steele. Noah wasn't saying anything else that needed to be acknowledged at the moment, so he could continue to give the man the silent treatment. He approached the ice cream truck, and since Noah had already made her choice went ahead and ordered. The man working behind the counter greeted him, and Hurst ordered two cones. One with two scoops of chocolate, and one with two scoops of peanut butter. He paid for just those two, and rather quickly at that. When he got back his change and his ice cream, he turned to hold out the cone with chocolate to his niece.

Noah waited. "I think he knows too much." She nodded, "Because he was in the military! They do a lot of law stuff though too." she waited, "And his best friend is a cop. He's super serious law stuff." She made a face that was meant to mimic Sergei's before shaking it away.
"Oh a Charmander!" She excitedly pointed to her screen, letting go of Steele's hand to catch it.
As the cone was offered to the girl, she looked up at her uncle, with the sort of eyes that were like 'you forgot mister new friend steele's' and then back down at it.
She took it though, took a small lick and then held it out for Steele, "If you grab a spoon, you can have some." She waited, "I want some of your strawberry though. Hurst got peanut butter." She made a bunch of boo noises.

What, Steele thought in annoyance, glowering at Hurst, was the point of being so damn attractive and so damn confident in his expensive Italian suits and his profession if the person wasn't impressed at all by him and was downright ignoring him?
This was an affront to his very nature. Steele didn't miss the way his own ice cream had been rudely dismissed and passed over a fifty dollar bill to the cashier without even glancing at her, reaching to pluck up the offered bowl of ice cream in return.
Noah was given an approving look, and then he realized what she'd said.
"A CHARMANDER," said Steele, and hastily swiped his phone back on. "Also just because your uncle here doesn't want to make new friends, doesn't mean that he has good taste. Strawberry is better than peanut butter," he added, with a gloating sort of smirk in Hurst's direction.
He did, however, squint at Noah's ice cream. "Uh - I mean, I have mine now, so thank you for your very generous offer."
He went back to glaring at Hurst.

Hurst, though wrapped around Noah's finger 99.9% of the time, was exercising his 0.1% resistance. He was not phased by the look that said he had forgotten, because it had been on purpose. He also hadn't missed the rather careless and arrogant way the lawyer dished out a fifty to hand to the poor ice cream worker, and it just made his opinion of the man plummet further. "Noah, are we at the zoo?" He mused. "That squawk sure sounded like the bird enclosure." He just smirked back at the man as he glared, and licked his delicious peanut butter icecream.

"Oh. Okay!" Noah smiled up at the man and continued to eat her ice cream before settling in the pokemon go silence.
Once she was half way done she brought eyes back up to her uncle. "You're being immature."
She didn't know what it meant but her mom said it a lot.

Steele stared.
Then he stared some more.
Then he resisted the urge to stick his shoe right up Hurst's a** because that seemed mildly inappropriate for a child...thing...to witness, and besides, he wanted to lead the lawsuits, not be a part of one himself.
He straightened his jacket and said, with as much dignity as he could, "Well, I'm sorry to hear that stick that you lost is now somewhere else, obviously."
Noah was standing next to him, peering up at the two of them. She seemed pretty smart for a child thing, Steele thought.
"Yeah," he emphasized pointedly, staring at Hurst. "Immature."

"Takes someone being immature to know what it is, you two~" Hurst replied breezily. The problem with dealing with the man was that there wasn't really anything you can say to him to get him. He just continued to stroll along, enjoying his ice cream, unruffled. "When can we expect to be rid of you, Steve?" Hurst asked conversationally. "Surely you have emotionally compromised people to go prey upon?"
