June 2018 Academy: Social Studies Junior 1. Student randomizes between 1 and 23. The number rolled is the race they get. 2. Student describes the rolled race's courtship behaviors 3. Word count minimum is 100 words. You may not directly copy/paste from the race page. 4. ??? Profit!
Username: Nashawryn Student Name: Sylkie Von
Number Rolled: 4 - Litch
Courtship Time!: Sylkie’s ears went back and her tail started flicking rapidly. She really didn’t know much of anything about Litches and it was making her nervous. This was going to be a difficult paper for her to write up. She knew Litches were pretty shy and tended to take the time to become friends with someone before even trying to mate. Apparently patience was a virtue, in this case.
Some bolder Litches however, would describe why they wanted to become mates with their potential partner, moving right past getting to know them and on into cold and reasonable facts to showcase their decision in regards to the matter. She wasn’t sure how the potential mate would respond but she knew she’d rather become friends with someone first, like the shyer Litches.

June 2018 Academy: Social Studies Freshling 1. Student randomizes between 1 and 23. The number rolled is the race they get. 2. Student thinks of a defining trait from the race they've been assigned. 3. Word count minimum is 50 words! 4. ??? Profit!
Username: Random Nobody 13 Student Name: Red
Number Rolled: 2 - Demon
Defining Trait: Red thought back to when the teacher had been talking about all the different races. There were so many and they'd gone through them all pretty quickly. He guessed this was just some sort of test to see if they'd remember stuff. Considering he had the first race they'd gone over, he thought himself pretty lucky.
"Demons are the most common race," he told the rest of the class. Since he'd been called on first, he wanted to make sure he did a good job. Plus this way he wouldn't really have to pay much attention to the rest of the class since his part would be done.
"They have, uh, horns that protrude from their foreheads and they have a heart--- a spade, a spade at the end of their tail." He'd remembered the word for it only after he'd said what he thought when he looked at them. What else had the teacher said. Something about their teeth, right? Pointy teeth and claws?
"They also have pointy teeth and claws. Not very big ones like the grimm, but good enough for them, I guess," Red shrugged a bit. Having exhausted all the traits they'd gone over in class, he went back to his seat and proceeded to swing his feet back and forth hoping that class would be over soon.

Username: Random Nobody 13 Student Name: Di'o
Number Rolled: 5 - Dryad
Defining Trait: "Dryads have leaves and other green things attached to their body, like, on their ears, legs, and foreheads. They photosy-photosny. . .photo-syn-the-size Vitamin D from the sun to feel nice! Like a plant! But don't pick 'em, cuz it'll hurt 'em." Di'o thought that was super neat about them. He'd never met a dryad just yet, but when he did he was hoping they'd let him touch the plant-like bits.
"Um, their sclera matches their iris' color, but like, darker?" He wasn't sure what that meant, but it was something he'd heard the teacher tell them during the lesson. The last thing he'd said had been something about their skin. What had it been? Oh yeah!
"And then some of them, their skin feels all different. Since there's like four different kind of dryads, they each feel a bit different. I think it'd be really neat to feel that. Don't you?" Di'o asked the teacher, not really expecting a response just yet since they were in the middle of describing things for class.

Username: Random Nobody 13 Student Name: Pepper Ann Mint
Number Rolled: 17 - Slaugh
Courtship Time!: "From what I was able to gather, slaugh pair their children off literally as soon as they realize they aren't infertile because so few of them are. They value romance much higher than family and the paired up couple is seen as more of a duty than a romance? It's kind of weird. And then not only that, but the actual courting they do is really slow and they start as friends first. That makes sense to me at least. Um. . .what else. Oh, they start with subtle physical contact, and they like getting gifts that are hard to get. The most popular ones are the ones from outside their city limits since none of them particularly enjoy leaving the city."
Pepper couldn't help but pepper in some thoughts of her own on the subject of the slaugh courting. It had been a bit embarrassing at first, and she kept having to explain to the librarian that she had been researching it for a school assignment. The look in their eye as they'd agreed with her made her think that they definitely thought she had a slaugh trying to court her or something. Honestly she should have just gone with their family units instead. That had just seemed too easy. Ah well, too late now. She just hoped she got a good grade for this, considering how many sites and books she'd had to comb through for the information.

Username: Random Nobody 13 Student Name: Isabelle
Number Rolled: 17 - Slaugh
Courtship Time!: Isabelle did a doubt take as the demon who went immediately before her in class had ended up doing the exact same race as her. Thankfully it seemed like she'd focused more on the courting aspect than the family aspect so she wasn't repeating the exact same information. She'd thought it a bit odd that all the books she'd tried to get a hold of in the library had been checked out already. It had forced her to delve deeper into the database of the library for usable books, but it was good practice for when she started compiling information for her journalist papers!
"The small, mostly infertile race of the Slaugh live solely within the Undercity's confines in above. They raise their children in groups as there is typically only one at a time. Children within a few years of one another will be raised by that particular group though they'll all be aware of which is their true relation. This is true despite the slaugh typically being rather distrustful as a whole.
"Since the lovely demon in front of me just went over the majority of what I have about their courting process, I won't bore you with it again. However I do have a bit more to add that she didn't address." Isabelle gestured to Pepper, who had been listening with an attentive expression, nodding along as they described things. Then they turned back to the class as a whole to finish up her report.
"What I found most interesting is that it's strongly discouraged to imbue or even date with non-slaugh. Those that break that taboo aren't outcast, but they are definitely shunned. Getting involved with other races is dangerous, and since they value their race's safety as a whole, it would only make sense to want to have as little contact with them as possible. Even cherubs aren't exempt from this, since they're so against hybrids."

Username: Random Nobody 13 Student Name: Cyril
Number Rolled: 7 - Fey
Family Values: Cyril thought the customs of the fey were a bit strange but he hadn't been asked to give his opinions of it, just to describe what he found. Taking a steeling breath and hoping his streak of good luck in class held out, he stood up to present his report.
"F-f-fey believe the world, believe love. . .offer peace, hospitality, and love to anyone who'll accept it. They are big believers in second chances and forgive quickly. Known as a charitable race they often-often-often take in refugees in need. Most of them are vegetarian because they don't want to do any violence." That was a good start. Now to the most important part.
"An important form of expression for the Fey is dancing and many of their holidays involve a formal dance as one of the ways they celebrate. They also have balls where young fey are brought together to meet others and socialize. Thanks to the well crafted atmosphere, romances frequently spark at these events-ents-ents. Um. . .They also prize colorful wings and tend to keep their hair short so they can better display them." Relieved now that he was done, with almost as much success as his last class, Cyril nodded and sat down. As he'd hoped, nobody really paid much attention to him afterwards.

Username: Random Nobody 13 Student Name: Maeva
Number Rolled: 4 - Litch
Family Values: Litch society's three main tenants, patience, knowledge, and temperance, mean that as a whole they value working carefully and efficiently above any other way. once they've committed to something it's difficult for them to pull their focus away. Due to the fact that their nature is incredibly cerebral and focused, other races often mistake them for cold and distant when it's merely that they have a hard time picking up on subtleties of expression and body language. Most of them chose their words quite carefully, so as not to unintentionally harm others." Maeva summed up her what she'd learned of their values and customs and then moved on to a bit about their family structure. It hadn't felt right to just leave it off there, but there hadn't been much else for her to find about them.
"Litches more often than not take more than one companion at a time and so their soul stones are typically imbued in groups of three. Their families are very tight-knit and it's not uncommon to find more than eight generations of a family living in the same city or village. Largely this is due to the fact that their lands are sparsely populated." Nodding, since she thought she'd included enough information in her report without seeming like she was reaching far off conclusions, she sat back in her seat. Even with her earlier mishap at the pool, she'd managed to convince them to let her take her last couple classes before sending her home. She was feeling quite a bit better with the medicine the nurse had given her.

Defining Trait: When he got his race the young hybrid had to laugh. After all what was the likelihood he would actually role a race he was very familiar with. After all his dad was a lunar fey, so he should be knowledgeable.
"Fey have a lot of different traits unique to them. They have moth or butterfly like wings. They also have little antennae on top of their heads and most fey have flowers on their chest. Well all pureblooded fey have flowers on their chest which can vary depending on if you are a lunar fey or a solar fey."
Having finished his piece, he sat back down..

" Bakeneko have long furried tails that split off at the end. They also have split pupils and have fur on their legs and on their arms. Some bakeneko actually are fluffier than others and lol like poof critters. Bakeneko also tend to have fangs and they have furry little vespercat like ears on top of their head. "
There that should round it all off. With that he sat back down

Courtship Time!:Why was it that you had to always do courtship research. Fiore supposed it was to clear up misunderstandings and to keep from hearts getting crushed more than they did normally but it could be so tedious. Well considering she didn't really research or have close relationships with imos it was a good way to learn.
"Imps are very adventurous in their courting and tend to jump right into winning affection whether this be romantically or otherwise. They also lean towards being more physically affectionate and to be so is seen as quite normal in their race, they are also the race more likely to lean towards polygamy. This behavior often confuses other races because of the affection but if there is an doubt an imp would be happy to straighten you out. " she told the class.

Number Rolled: 8 - Geist
Courtship Time!:
Malikah frowned the slightest while studying his textbook; Geists courted in such a different way than both Imps and Fallen. With a bit of hesitation, he put his pen to the paper. Carefully, and with grace, he slowly detailed how Geists enjoyed laughter and cunning in their rituals. The hybrid was trying hard not to call them mean, but they did love their trickery. However, Malikah realized it was probably the equivalent of "aw, mean boy likes you."
Continuing on, he detailed how the pranks and tricks could be equated to seeking attention from the other person. Exchanging annoyances could also grow a closer bond, as affectionate teasing is known to do. Maybe even the pranks could help you understand what actually annoyed your potential partner and what didn't?
Finishing up his homework for the day, Malikah tried to think of any Geists in love that he knew in order to add more depth, but alas he did not. Slightly unsatisfied with his answer but confident he did the work, the hybrid boy moved to add his paper to the pile.

Username: Orangeish Sherbert Student Name: Cider
Number Rolled: 12 - Fallen
Family Values: She was going to graduate. The very idea was fresh in her mind, and Cider couldn’t wait. There were only a few more classes she had to pass…and of course she was feeling both excited…and a little bored. Though she still loved school and loved learning…she wanted to be done already…the academy was beginning to grow boring.
Her assignment was about families and with a sigh, Cider looked at the race she had been given, feeling a small pang of discontent at the fact that she didn’t have this race in her own blood…which made the assignment just a bit harder…though, after a small silent temper tantrum, the hybrid reasoned that just because she didn’t have it as part of her own line…this would help her learn more about it…so perhaps when she met a Fallen to befriend…she would have a better understanding of them.
And thus, she picked up her pen and began writing.
The Fallen tend to stick together more often than being loners, they form either family groups or stay with groups of friends and despite their long lifespan they often don’t extend their families that much, so family units tend to stay small.
She pursed her lips and reread the passage. Well…it wasn’t great…but at least it was passable, she hoped. She was getting so lazy now…she had to do better if she wanted to get into a good University…now was not the time to slack off!
