Avelyn smiled at him, "Yeah, there are both of those things to combat the dryness." She agreed, looking to him more. When he mentioned showing her around his space and his belongings, the hybrid smiled more... until he said she had to share her stuff too. She didn't really have... anything. "I guess that's fair." She told him as she nibbled at her lip nervously. "I share a room too... With a few others." She mentioned, trying to think of what to ask him... a small smile lining her face when she thought of something, "So... What is your favorite class... or which one do you look forward to most?" She asked him, curious what school subject he was interested in.. if any at all.

The other's sudden withdrawal caught him off guard and Malikah didn't quite know how he messed up. She seemed to right herself quickly, but surely the hybrid had possessions, or even a silly website she liked, or something? "You get used to not having any room to think," he laughed a bit dryly at the sharing part. He did know she lived in the dorms but he wasn't aware of who her roommates were, or their quantity.
"That's a hard one 'cause I don't know what I want to do yet," he admitted, scratching his cheek. Malikah was trying very hard to be practical in life. "I like people a lot and want to help them, but I don't think I would be a good doctor or anything." He considered for a moment, almost afraid to answer truthfully. Avelyn had already called him out once already for not being himself, but of course... his answer was so in line with his father and probably where half of his interest came from. He opted to bite his tongue on that detail. "I really like my Life Skills classes, to be honest. Sewing, cooking... is there a job in life that's like, below caretaker but you can still do that for other people?" he mused out loud.
"I haven't crossed paths with you in class yet. What do you like?" As soon as he asked, Malikah sucked in a breath and buried his face into his arm fur. A heartbeat passed before he quickly popped back up. "Sorry, I realized I'm not even super sure what house you're in... we really haven't seen each other in a while, have we?"

Avelyn nodded to him in reply to his comment about not having room to think. He was completely right about that, her roommates were rude and obnoxious. All they wanted to go all day and night was party. She was also often bullied by them,; not because she was a hybrid but because she actually enjoyed school and learning. Her ears perked up as Malikah started to answer her question, clearly interested in what he had to say.
She smiled with a bit of admiration, "That's really neat that you want to help people. I bet if you studied really hard, you could be a doctor but that isn't the only way to help other people. I bet we could find something really awesome for you to do when to work towards... Maybe you could help me too?" She told him, "I love cooking but I am really bad at it. I used to be better... but I have declined in the art of food." She laughed a bit, "I bet you will make many people happy some day." She added, jumping around the conversation some.
When he asked about her, Avelyn thought for a moment. "I like learning and reading a lot... but if I am being honest, it's mostly to escape the stress I deal with everyday. So with those aside.. I... don't really know what I like." She told him, looking nervous again as she bit at her bottom lip. "...Malikah, I.. have never left the school before. I see everyone else go out an have fun.. but I never really wanted to go out because I didn't want to do it alone." She admitted, being completely real with him. She felt weird sharing that with him, especially since they hadn't talked in a long time. "I'm in Eldritch." She replied.

The suggestion made him perk, curling his claws against his leg. "I'd love to try and teach you how to cook some. I'm not the best, but I know a lot of the principles so you can't burn stuff. What I haven't learned in school my fluffy Dad has taught me," Malikah explained eagerly, his tail wagging ever the slightest.
"I'm happy someone thinks so, even if I just have to volunteer my skills instead," he responded honestly, a bit touched. He fell at bit quiet though, rather expressionless as Avelyn continued on. "There's no harm in that... well... I mean it's not all that fun you feel the need to run Ave, but if it's something that works for you you have every right to own it," Malikah chirped, a bit of firmness to his voice.
He kept quiet for a long beat, trying to process a response without any potential of being insensitive. Honestly, Malikah lived in a whirlwind and it was only a blessing he was so level headed about it. "That explains how you got into my Study Hall so easily," he offered a bit lamely before clearing his throat, committing that information to memory as to not be forgotten again.
"Well, we're going to my house tonight. We can study, and either before or after we can make a simple dinner together. It'll be fun and educational," the boy decided for them, pulling his tail into his lap. "And then depending how much studying you have left, we can make plans to go out and do something when we're free again." The hybrid smiled wide. "I'm going to take that as an invitation you want to do stuff, yeah? I'm positive we can find all sorts of cool places that interest you."
Shifting in his seat, he thought once more for a heartbeat. "I wouldn't feel bad... I know the academy is pretty restrictive on those who live here."

Avelyn smiled warmly at all of Malikah's kind words. He was right... he usually was right. "I think.. Cooking at your house and learning how to cook better from you would be really awesome..Thank you." She smiled a bit bigger at his proposal, "You mean... You will actually go out and do something with me?" She sounded surprised; no one ever accepted her invite or invited her out before. "I will look forward to that then." She added, clearly way more upbeat and excited.
"Do you think your family will like me?" Ave asked, she was positive they would... if they were anything like Mali but she still sorta worried. More so about his siblings being nice to her.. she'd never had a sibling before.

"Yeah, why wouldn't I?" he asked confused, his ear tufts drooping a bit in confusion. "We can catch up, and I know how to get around without getting lost, mostly." He waved a hand realizing that might be a poor statement to make. "We won't get lost and if we do, I have a phone."
At the mention of his family, Malikah took the question to heart and hummed in response. "I have a lot of siblings. Some are just jerks because they want to be," he admitted, unable to sugarcoat it. He loved them but it had to be said. "But I don't think any of them will have a reason to dislike you! I promise a lot of us are fluffy and nice," he joked. "And the rest of us either have wings, or glow, or have like, six eyes...."
Above them a warning bell sounded and Malikah frowned at the implication. "Shoot," he muttered under his breath having forgotten that they were still in the middle of a school day.

Avelyn listened to him mention they could get lost, "It's okay if we do get lost... It wouldn't bother me.. It's not like we wouldn't be able to find out way." She told him, smiling to him. This was nice. She finally had a real friend! She laughed some at his comment on his siblings, covering her mouth with her paw to stop herself since she didn't want to sound rude.
"Wow, really? Six eyes? That's a lot. I bet they can see super well." She mentioned, trying to imagine what that would be like. "Well, I am happy to meet your fluffy and not fluffy family... but I am most excited to hang out with you." She told him, her face flushing some as she smiled. Then there was that damn bell. Avelyn's shoulders dropped, "....That's no fair.." She grumbled, not wanting to stop talking to the other. What if over the next few periods, he decided he didn't want to hang out... or what if he forgot about her!? She frowned as she clutched her stuff. "Guess... We should get going.."

He shrugged vaguely. Malikah actually had never asked Paru what his vision was like, he just knew his vision wasn't quite perfect. It wasn't like his brother had a comparison to 'normal' eyes anyway. "Yeah, we have some Hallowed in my family."
"I'm excited to hang out too, I don't get to bring many friends over," the hybrid confirmed, feeling eager as well. As he moved to stand, he pulled his own bag close. "Let's meet back here after last period? I know it gets a bit crazy as people slug home, but that way we avoid all the people coming and going out front."
He took a few steps before pausing. "We have a teleportation spot at my house, but we could take the long way if you want. Whatever you're comfortable with."

Avelyn smiled at Malikahs mention of hallows. They were so interesting. The whole thing was very fascinating to her. "That's neat." She replied, not sure how else to say it.
He was excited to hang out with her!! Avelyn smiled brightly, "Well... I'll hang out with you anytime, okay?" She told him, moving to grab her things too... More so making sure she had everything. "Sure. I'll meet you here... It'll be easier to spot you too." She agreed, he heart pounding.
She shrugged some as he mentioned how they would get home. "...can we take the long way. It'll give more time to hang out." She explained.

Her response tickled him and he clicked his claws softly together in idle response. "Good, because it might take me a while you teach you how to cook," the long haired boy teased, rocking up onto his toes.
"The long way sounds great. I'll teach you the joys of public transportation and everything," he informed a bit triumphantly, patting the front of his bag where his train pass was. He took it from time to time to have his own breathing room after school.
Reaching out, Malikah gave Avelyn's arm the briefest squeeze as the final bell rang. "I'll see you soon. We'll have a great time."

Avelyn laughed softly as he teased her, "lucky for you... I'm generally a fast learner." She smiled brightly again, very happy that Malikah found her today. This morning had dragged and she honestly didn't even want to get out of bed. Everything happens for a reason, right? Perhaps she should thank those bullies.
The hybrid held back a laugh, "I thought public transportation was.. bad? That's what I've read." She more stated than asked as she pulled her bag onto her shoulder. She wondered if it was really as bad as she's heard or if some people are just dramatic. She pulled out of her thoughts when Malikah touched her, a blush spreading across her face. "Okay. See you." She replied idly, still thinking about the touch till the bed rang. Oh boy! Better get to class! She turned to head out quickly.
