Kent had already been on the ground floor when he'd heard the announcement, and on the ground floor he had stayed, camping out near an exit so that he might make it to the beach at a decent hour. He was still somehow slightly late compared to a handful of others, having wandered aimlessly for a while as he tended to do.

He arrived just in time to hear what was meant to be the purpose of all of this wagon trash, and as such he didn't complain. Kent simply chose a potentially life-saving ping pong ball and strapped it on, hoping it was at least somewhat clean.

Lena was too busy fiddling with her own glasses, alarmed at how utterly smeared they were getting, despite the valiant efforts of trying to use part of her coat to wipe them off.

When she heard her name being called, though, bright eyes glanced up and squinted before she put her partially-smeared glasses back onto her nose. There was Lulu, the best sister ever, already arming herself with...

....... grapes?

Shaking her head, she clung to her sibling as the twin came crashing up against her. Having picked out a vest of packing peanuts for herself, she knew she was prepared for anything - now that she had her cohort in crime at her side.

"Grapes, Lulu?"

Her nose scrunched. "You're going to smell like fruit for a week."

It was really damn fortunate Gretchen hadn't turned in early the night they'd shrunk. Lucky, because if she had she'd have taken the prosthetic off, and then would have had to go without for the duration of the month. Even with it, existence wasn't exactly a picnic. Being shorter than a damn Barbie, the world around them was the most extreme sort of obstacle course, and that was a bit more of a challenge with a physical limitation.

Which meant it took a little bit longer to get to the beach. She was panting as she made it, stumbling slightly in the sand with a frustrated 'oomph!' before pushing back up to carry on wards towards the boats and the hunters gathering around them, Kent included.

"Oh thank God, Kent!" She stumbled again as she went to reach for his arm, falling just short. This time she didn't bounce back immediately, but pushed up onto hr knees and just sat there for a moment. "I'll be happy when this is over." It was a gross understatement.

Trying not to look too] pathetic she held her hand up to Kent. "Did you pick a floaty yet?"

Sol turned to watch Zane and Sid making their way towards her across the sand, and a relieved smile slid along her lips. "I might have to take you up on that before I twist a ******** ankle." As they got closer she reached up for Zane and Sid both.

"We get to pick our own boats, ya?" She wanted to stick with the both of them as long as she could manage it.

Peyton glanced back at Hika, but shook her head and smiled. "Naw, it's fine. I'd have done more if I could have." Every little act of kindness counted, but it'd still been a very rough month. Granted, it wasn't anything near as bad as the year they'd spent stranded on that island. Remembering that had let the petite Sun stay in good spirits.

As they approached the boats and the wagon she held her hand back for the other girl. "You can stick with me if you want."

From the gathered odds and ends, Peyton grabbed herself a packaging peanut life vest, but didn't pull it on just yet.

It was very odd, everyone being more or less the same size. Henry hadn't minded it, though being the size of a toy soldier was a steep price to pay just to be able to look people in the eye. "More than ready," he mused, stifling a yawn with the back of his hand. He was looking forward to a good nights sleep after all this.

He glanced sidelong at Dai as they neared the wagon. "Where are you going to go? On leave, I mean."

As they got close enough to the gathering hunters to see familiar faces, the Mist trainee grinned brightly, hand shooting up in the air as he called out to a pair of twins with the same colored hair as him. "Lena! Luka!"

Small like this, on the ground, Zeke struggled to sleep -- but Ever looked refreshed. He'd zonked out comfortably, apparently unconcerned about a proper mattress or blanket, comfortable dragging the abused bulk of his coat over himself to keep warm.

The shower, though, he could also go for. So he rumbled a faintly amused sound of agreement as he fell in step behind Zeke, the pair of them struggling over the dunes to find themselves at the shore. Again. Being shepherded into boats. Again.

At least this time they were provided with safety gear. Ever looked hesitantly at the packing peanut vests and then out to the ships, and finally he started to tense up a bit. Better than he used to be, but --

"This seems like a really bad idea."

Zeke was staring at the line of toy boats, but at Ever's comment he dragged his attention back to him. "Maybe, but at this point I'm willing to take a few risks to get back to normal." He wasn't flourishing in this over-sized world. and if there had been novelty about it to begin with, it'd all worn off long ago.

He gave the flotation devices a dubious glance before he selected a packing peanut.

"At least we're not just swimming this time." Boats was a bit of an improvement on that, especially with the sort of wildlife that lived in the waters off these shores.

"I still appreciate it, a great deal." Hika wondered if there was a way, once they were normal sized again, that she could secretly get the other woman's measurements. She remembered how Peyton had seemed to admire the dress that she had worn on Dares, and also seemed to like it when on Peyton, and she thought it might make a good thank you gift for all the kindness her friend had shown her to get her one, that fit HER properly.

"Yes... Yes, I think I would like that." A more experienced hunter, by far, and someone she trusted? Hika would much prefer to stay at her friend's side for the time being. She took Peyton's hand, willingly, as she examined all the set up.

Finally, after eyeing the 'safety gear' with a disbelieving look, she selected what appeared to be a vest made up of 2 halves of a cork, and strapped it on. "This should be... Interesting."

Dai patted his yawning friend on the back, and sighed. "Missed my bed, for sure. I was crashing in my sister's room, because it was easier then climbing the stairs EVERY DAY, and she had food in there, so I didn't have to worry about that but... Bed." He sighed deeply and than focused on what they were approaching. He eyed the boats, the wagon, and glanced back at Henry at his question.

"Probably Portland. I wanna go to a coffee shop, hijack some internet for a bit... Then I'll go shopping, see what I can find. Maybe Seattle. Somewhere in the US, where I know I can probably get a decent chance at free WiFi in a coffee shop, mainly." He tossed his head and shrugged, and considered options in the wagon.

He had been about to make a selection when Henry called out two names that he did not recognize, and he looked up, curiously, trying to see who he was yelling at... and if one of them seemed to be the one the other lad was crushing on.

He hurried to help her up, then left his arm crooked in her vicinity so that she might lean on it if she chose, like a fancy lady watching a parade.

"Ping pong ball," he said with a smirk, though his satisfied expression faltered a little once he actually considered what he had said. Surely he weighed more than the ball affixed to his back, even in this form. And that would mean that he would be forced to bob beneath it, were he to fall in. Pulled face down under the water, unable to find purchase on spinning, wet plastic. He might have made a poor choice.

"I'm debating a switch to one of those styrofoam peanuts though. And I definitely need to get my hands on a boat with some battery power." He had doubts that anyone had ever bothered to hook a toy boat up to any sort of runic power supply, but considering that some hunters had shown up in RC cars, he couldn't dismiss the thought entirely.

Luka was too busy hugging her sister, delighted to have finally found her after all this tiny business began. "Hey, I want to have full range of my body okay. What are you even gonna pick huh Lele?"

Playfully the girl jabbed her sister in the ribs, grinning broadly because she couldn't hide how happy she was to have the girl at her side.

Her head lifted, Luka pulling herself away from her sister when she heard someone call her name.

"Henry!!!" She chirped, pushing onto her tip toes as she waved her arm excitedly at the boy and whomever was with him.

When she glanced back over at the boats she wrinkled her nose. "Which one should we pick?"

"You just let me know," Zane replied easily, hands sliding into his pockets as he watched her struggle with the sand. This whole tiny nonsense wasn't ideal but it was better than some other s**t they could be going through....

Of course he had no idea what would be on the other side where the mission goals sat.

A packing peanut was picked up and inspected, Zane squinting at the thing before he waved it at Sid. "Maybe this, they float pretty well from what I remember." And he could swim but it he didn't have to worry about really keeping himself afloat the better.

"Probably? Better pick one fast." Green eyes cut to the selection of boats offered. "Just gotta pick one that's suitable for the three of us."

The trip was mercifully quick as there was virtually nothing to hold on to as they zoomed across from the dorms to the beach. Rhys hopped out and huffed, shooting a small but grateful smile at Noemi before the little floating things in the water caught his eyes. And nearby, upon Dwight's instruction, he noticed the questionable floating equipment they were supposed to take.

"We can definitely do this," he said as he took Seren's free hand. "And what he said," he said while gesturing to Milo. "Best get going. Much as I like grapes I'm not sure I wanna try using one as a water wing."

Sid took Sol’s hand helped her up before they headed over to the where Zane was with the rest of the floaties. Swimming was maybe slightly questionable in Sid’s books so he picked up the one with packing peanuts that Zane had pointed out and hoped only for the best in terms of not needing to outswim someone.

Next up was picking the boat that all three of them would have to fit on, even more so steer and actually move across the water. Were they going to have to paddle?

Being so tiny was the damn pits.

“So anyone know how to sail? Maybe we can actually use a little wind power versus trying to row against the waves?”

She offered her sibling a playful jab as she tugged gently on the peanut-vest as Lena did her very, very best to try not to think about whether or not she'd been a fool in her decision.

Grapes seemed less buoyant than packing peanuts... right? Or would the peanuts absorb with water and sink her even faster?

Ugh!

She found herself (thankfully) distracted from the dark thoughts of sinking, peanut vest and all, when a man's voice called her name. There weren't too many boys that knew her (nor did she know them) so her face perked up almost identical to Lulu's as Henry made his appearance.

To her twin's question, though, she hesitated.

"I...I vote for the inflatable stuff. Swan or balloons. Weight would probably sink the rest.... right?"

It was a packaging peanut Peyton would end up settling on, though she didn't seem terribly convinced of it's reliability. Probably better than grapes, at the very least, but honestly, she wasn't even sure on that. She didn't think she'd ever noticed if grapes floated.

With safety gear taken care of they were left with the choice of a boat. Hand still wrapped around Hikaru's, she'd lead the trainee over to the row of rune covered boats before coming to a stop beside one that looked a bit like a simplified tug boat. "It's probably as god as any, yeah?"

aria starstone

Sol clung to Sid's arm as she followed Zane towards the collection of flotation devices, and like him, she'd pick one of the packaging peanuts. It just seemed the safest of the bunch. The closest they had to actual life vests.

"They've got runes all over them, so they're probably powered somehow..." Not that she sounded too sure about that. "But we could take one of the schooners." A small hand lifted to point at one of the boats with multiple sails. "Wind power, but easier than the smaller sail boats to operate." She didn't have an outstanding amount of experience on boats, but she had an uncle who'd lived on Lake Superior, and she and Luna had spent a few summers there. "They've got a lot of room, too."

When they were close enough to him, Sol reached out to loop her arm around one of Zane's as well, so she was standing between the two of them on her unsteady heels.

She leaned on him, both arms curled around his one, and looked over the various items they had available to them. "It's not really much to choose from, huh?" Though she supposed that wasn't all that surprising, given their size. Gretchen pursed her lips thoughtfully, laying her head on Kent's shoulder for a moment as she considered her options, and then finally uncurled one arm to each for a bit of cork that had been fashioned into a swim belt.

While he tried to narrow down his selection, Gretchen half turned to look at the boats lined up at the edge of the water. "Well, there's a few look like they'd run on batteries, but all of'em have runes." Her head tilted, lips twitching to one side. "Maybe they're all powered."

Then again, maybe they weren't. Better safe than sorry, probably.

"What about the thing that looks like a hover craft?" Her head tipped to nod at the yellow and blue model.

As they made their way over to the twins Henry shot Dai an incredulous look. "They have wifi pretty much everywhere these days. Most McDonald's have it." It made him wonder what sort of life Dai led before this place, and where. He'd have to remember to ask after they'd dealt with this whole size issue.

As they reached the girls he grinned again, and reached for a floaty almost at random. "Not much to choose from here," he mused as he looked the packaging peanut over with a thoughtful frown before drawing it on over his head. He had to say, he felt pretty silly with it on.

He glanced between the twins as they tried to decide what boat would be best, then up at the boats themselves. "I dunno that they'd sink, I mean." Lips twitched. "They've probably taken precautions, but whatever one you think is best I'm sure would be fine."
