Jordan quietly snorted in relief, since the lady can relate with him. Granted, he wasn't a fan of formal gathering. Well he can but it was just not his cup of tea and if anything, the whole formality was his hal-abeoji's shtick. Not that hal-abeoji was bad, he was really nice but ya know. Differences. Later, a rosy-haired waitress finally approached them, while Jordan expected the warm-toned lady to get a table first. He was honestly expecting to be eating alone, until this lady decided a table of two, with a look that says that Jordan was invited to eat dinner with her.
Jordan smiled and nodded in agreement, feeling a bit flattered. Though he kind of figured that her smile looked like it has a mix of mischief but hey, Jordan can take it. Besides, he couldn't stand being so awkward and alone in this town. "That's uncalled for but thanks," he quietly said, jokingly so, "I mean, I arrived here since last night. On accident. So it's like a fish outta water." Jordan chortled, since it was actually very true. He didn't intend to land here in Glenvale at all. He bit his lip thoughtfully, feeling that it seemed a bit rude that he won't introduce himself right now when she was the one being nice to him. Also, she wasn't as weird as that one butler guy in the hotel, talking about necromancy. Hah. Haha. No one was stupid enough to let a necromancer in the hotel. Haha. "M'name's Jordan, by the way. "
Well the girl had said a table for two, but the other boy seemed surprised. Perhaps they didn't know each other after all? It wasn't her problem though, so she simply put on her best waitress smile, grabbed two menu's and started to lead them away. "Alright, right this way," Momoka lead them away towards the middle of the restaurant where she seated the two of them. She set the two menu's down in front of each chair. "I'll be right back with water for you both."
Quickly making her way to the back, she grabbed three ice waters and headed over to the other girl at the single table first. Setting down the water in front of her, she spoke out again at the weird girl, "Are you ready to order, miss?" Momoka flashed her fangs at the girl again in case she needed a reminder. She didn't want any trouble or fighting, mostly because it was such a hassle.

Calliope began following the hostess to their table, all the while, listening to the stranger behind her. He got here for the first time last night?? Damn. Win some, lose some I guess. Still, he’d mentioned a hotel; and a cheap place to sleep was all Calliope really wanted to know about. That, she supposed, as well as making some friends. It always pays off to have allies in unfamiliar territory. As they neared the table, he introduced himself. Jordan. She filed the information away, Is he one of those people who talks ‘cuz they can’t handle silence? Calliope looked back and briefly assessed her new companion. He didn’t look particularly nervous, but then again, she was sure a lot of people wouldn’t look how they feel. ”Calliope.” She answered just before she sat down. She nodded her thanks when the waitress handed them their menus and left with the promise of water. Calliope was certain there was a joke she could make to loop Jordan’s “fish out of water” analogy back around, but was too tired and hungry to connect the dots. ”Sorry to drag you over here so suddenly.” She said, tucking her feet under her chair and picking up her menu. ”But you said something about a hotel? I kind of… ran into this town. Like you! But this morning. ‘Was wondering if you knew any places to stay is all.” She was awfully proud of herself for speaking so fluently considering how distracted she was by the menu. The pictures of the entrées described were downright taunting her. As if to agree with her, she felt her bag bump against her chair softly. What's he so fussy about?! It's not like he even needs to eat! Calliope shot a quick warning glance at her bag. She knew she didn't have a telepathic link with the familiar inside, but she hoped he somehow got the message to be quiet and sit still.
gaia_nitemareleft glancing back up at the returning waitress, she nodded to the question. Watching as she flashed her fangs, it gave her a soothing chill up her spine. Ariel still couldn't put a finger on what she was but she was attractive. Oddly so. Then to see she had a bit of fire and spunk to her made her even more so. "Ah yes. Umm I'd like a regular 8oz steak please. As rare as you can legally make it. " Closing the menu, she looked back up at her. "Since you know.. nobody around here wants to play nice... I'll have to substitute. " gaia_nitemareright

"Psh nah, it's cool. At least I ain't gonna eat alone." Jordan shrugged with his hands as he took a seat with a lady named Calliope. The name sounded old-fashioned, but kind of nice. "I checked in to this hotel not far from here. Few eccentric people there. The services are okay though, just that they have this fancy vintage vibe goin' on." That was referring to the fact that the butler said that there was a necromancer in Room 114. That should be a lie, no one was stupid enough to say that out loud if they're running a hotel business. "Granted, I'mma city-life kind of guy. And, I'm an engineer."
Picking up the menu, Jordan then fell quiet as he focused on what food he should order. He was semi-familiar with the recipes, given that he had a dormmate who would invite him to parties with Chinese food back when he was in college. Jordan still missed the food back home, though, whether it was the Southern or Korean. But most importantly, the chapchae noodles. Duh. Without moving his head, his pale eyes looked over the eerie dark-haired lady, looking like she was being condescending with the waitress. Jordan bit his lip, which was what he does every time he felt concerned. "Playing nice? Geez, at least have proper manners when in a restaurant, amirite?"Jordan muttered, his eyes then shifted to the menu afterward. Right, he was reminded of the fact that there were still people who acted like those dumb a** suburban old people.
Chuckling at the girl's comment about how rare they can make it, she wrote down her order after setting aside the other water's. She glanced over to the girl as she mentioned about someone not being nice, which Momoka could only assume that the girl meant her. "Sorry, but I'm not about to be someone's meal without a fight," she explained, flashing her a smile. "And considering I'm working, that means I can't fight. So, you're just going to have to settle for second best. I'll go put in your order and be right back."
Sighing out of exhaustion already, she hoped that the day wouldn't be so weird as it already was. She picked up the other waters and brought them over to the table of two. Did she just saw the girl talk to her bag? Uhh maybe I'm just seeing things, Momo convinced herself. "Here are those water's for you," Momoka set one down in front of each two customers. "Are you guys ready to order or need some more time?"

Jordan easily accepted Calliope’s apology and told her about the hotel. She didn’t mind eccentric personalities, but she thoughtfully tapped her nail on the plastic menu at his description of the hotel. A “vintage vibe”? Bet they’d jack the prices up for that sort of ambiance.… As Jordan continued with information about himself, Calliope remembered to look up. She smiled and nodded but she couldn’t tell if he’d caught it as he looked down at his menu. For a moment, Calliope debated exchanging a fact about herself in return, but Jordan didn’t seem too eager to pry. With nothing else to do or say, Calliope’s eyes drifted back down to her menu, even though she was already set on one of the bowls of noodles she’d seen pictured. That was, until she heard the man mumble something about poor manners. Calliope’s attention snapped back up to Jordan, a little surprised and ready to verbally defend herself, but he wasn’t focused on her. Calliope followed his eyes to another table where the young waitress who had seated them was standing over a woman who looked like a porcelain doll. It seemed like they were both trying to pretend they weren’t irritated. The sight put her on edge to some extent. Man, if looks could kill….
Calliope quickly turned back to her own table as the waitress shifted to start walking again. S’None of my business anyway. The waitress quickly made her way back to their table, setting down two glasses of water and waiting to take their orders. Calliope wasn’t sure if Jordan was ready, but she was starving and she figured he could take time to decide while she ordered. ”Yeah, I think I’m gonna go with the spicy beef pho.” She said. Calliope took a moment to inspect the colorful little "spice meter" at the bottom of the page, partially to give Jordan a little more time. ”Definitely spicy beef pho, level five, with a little extra beef." She punctuated her order by shutting her menu and extending it towards the waitress. I hope Clerc can be chill for a few more minutes.

The ride went smoothly, Zane hadn't been the talkative type so far during the drive to the Chinese restaurant and he hadn't expected Terra to carry the conversation. In fact, she appeared to be fighting off heavy lids when he last took glance at her. A quick moment and they arrived.Within everything near by, this place was more like a strip of shops in town to prove the folk around here weren't competently out of touch from the rest of world. Zane parked the truck in front of the windows and grabbed the keys, twisting and pulling it from the ignition. The doors automatically unlocking. Turning his head to Terra, he took breath and exhaled softly, unsure if she was awake enough to realize they had stopped, "We're here."
Officer's cap still on his head, he held the sides and set it on the console before unlatching his seat-belt. His own sign and reminding himself he was off duty for the day. One piece of the uniform was off at least. Opening the door, Zane stepped out from the truck and lifted his arms above his head in stretch. Yawning and closing his eyes, letting the endorphins rush from the popping of his back and shoulders. Waking himself up a little as he walked to the curb and up the restaurants steps. The coolness from the cloudy day and northern wind made him feel more than comfortable. Soon, he would be able to wear an undershirt and then put his uniform over thanks to the cooler weather.
Zane held the door, the chime ringing when he pulled it open for Terra. He waited but his mind became more laxed. He suddenly smiled and he could feel another abrupt fit coming on. Taking a bite out of his lips subdued the intense need for a moment but, he stood stiff as a board while pushing back a laughter from the iron poisoning. His right cheek pushed his eye to squint, smiling and showing some white teeth. Damn, he couldn't hold it this time but at least it was brought into a snicker. Zane covered his mouth and held up two fingers for the Host to seat him and his company.
There had been a newer girl there he had seen in passing once before, she started working at the restaurant a few days back but already wasn't sure of her schedule. Pinkish hair with matching red eyes he assumed to be contacts. This was his business after all in the small town. Everyone knew everyone and if you were new, they would all know it. Hardly every the residents paid mind to those passing through but, the woman had managed to get a job, so she was worth looking more into according to how things typically operated. Zane scanned the room but, he didn't catch sight of pink hair, safe to assume also, she had the day off.
Waiting for Terra to come inside, he allowed her to go first as she followed the host and him soon after them. Seated, he coughed to brush off the fit and took a drink of water as soon as he could. The woman brightly smiled and patted Zanes shoulder, "you alright hun?" He coughed again and returned the smile, "I am alright, thought of something funny is all. Here, I'll be covering for Ms. Atwood. The usual for myself, Walnut Shrimp. " He replied smoothly and waved his hand, gesturing for Terra to see if she was ready.

As the truck stopped in the parking lot of Temple Dragon, Terra heard a faint voice, soft and deep. A familiar sound, her eyes opened to see Zane next to her. "Ahh, did I fall asleep? Whoopsie," she breathed. Even a short ride was enough for her to clock out apparently. Sitting up straight from her slouched slumber and twisting her torso to stretch, she felt recharged and ready to eat. She opened the passenger door, hopped out of her seat, planted herself on the pavement, and rounded the front to walk beside Zane.
Her eyes less tired, Terra felt normal again. "Thank you," she smiled to Zane as he opened the door. She stepped inside and immediately noticed the almost guilty grin he was making. Like when only you know it's an inside joke, or when you caught the punch line before everyone else and are waiting for the rest to catch up. It made her smile widen with curiosity. That's pretty rare. He must be excited for this food. When they were seated, a chuckle finally leaked from Zane and then he ordered. The hostess beat Terra to the question, and he responded vaguely. Okay, what is this... With curiosity, she scanned the dining room. A woman alone in the corner, and two people seated together. Only one of them looked human like her. Back to Zane, her lips curled and she leaned forward, elbows on the table. "Alright, spit it out. I see you're holding back. Is my hair messed up? You see someone you know? C'mon, you can tell me. Oh, and make that double," she finished by turning her head to the hostess. She smiled at the two and left them be.
Zane wasn't sure if Terra had fallen a sleep in the truck or not; she appeared drowsy or maybe day dreaming. Something that he was irritated with when she was first hired onto the force but, eventually he came around. Seeing Terra as a dreamer complimented his personality. Self-aware of his own personality, she was more or less a blessing when it came to learning things. A few months in knowing each other, Zane became naturally more friendly and less abrasive. Coughing again, he sighed and shook his head. Copying in an almost mocking manner, he leaned on his elbows when she did and smiled, his eyes squinting almost like how hers did. Taking a sip of the water and taking a long drawn out breath. "I have tourettes, remember?" He reminded and cocked his head to the side, "Hey, didn't you want to discuss something with me?"
Almost forgetting the request earlier when she, out of breath, ran up on him outside the station. The people around and inside the restaurant were busy enough to not take part or eavesdrop in the conversation, they were more focused on eating and being with their own to pay attention. If the matter would be private, he hopped Terra wouldn't mind this environment. Zane yawned and took another drink of the water, finishing it off and then raising a finger to politely signal for more.
The second Zane said 'tourettes,' Terra raised her eyebrows. Immediately, she leaned back and said, "Uhm, you must have been too good at concealing that fact because I had no idea." Maybe it was because of work, she thought Zane did everything for a reason. Feeling slightly guilty and a little confused about past times coming to the realization, she spoke, "And if you told me once before, then...Sorry about that." She grabbed her water and took many gulps, exhaling as she finally quenched her thirst from the early morning race. Terra was almost always an attentive listener. Strange.
Quickly moving to the next subject to avoid discussing further Zane's illness, she said, "Well, I'll get straight to the point. You know about the haunted hotel here in Glenvale?" She looked to her left to check if anyone was listening in. Any normal person would know that the place was considered taboo. She thought the pale woman in the corner might have made eye contact with her, but quickly turned her focus to Zane, pretending she didn't notice."I'm going there, and soon. Maybe even today or tomorrow," she finished with determination in her eyes, making it clear to Zane that there was little he could do to convince her otherwise.
Terra having not been made aware of his laughter and chuckling fits and his guise of tourette syndrome was rather a relief than strange. Zane sort of admired how she let the excuse for a disability slip past her observant nature. Then again, he made other excuses for the abrupt laughter cause by the iron sickness. Her being the one to apologize, he retorted quickly if to not make the mood dour, "Terra, don't worry. The subject may have never been brought up before, no one has a perfect memory. Hell, I may be mistaken too." He shrugged the matter off. Permanent damage to his mind had been made when he first wondered about the land above his marsh. The use of iron, deadly and everywhere clocked his scents. The Kelpie forced himself to stay above for long periods of time instead of heeding the intensifying burning sensations. He knew better now and worked the effect into his personality.
The waitress came by and refilled his water upon his raised finger. He thanked her and then she went about her business to check on the orders. His gaze watched her for a moment, even as she trailed off into the kitchen before returning to Terra whom began to speak. His stare intense as she spoke, his brows almost furrowed the further she lead into the question. Danm, the cursed hotel being brought up. Squinting now, he remained silent as his coworker continued in a convicted statement. Typically, he warned people to stay away, this was better for them and their well being due to the previous happenings.Zane wanted to tell her the same, to steer clear the the damned place but, the words would be wasted on the independent woman.
The food began to come out. Their orders of walnut shrimp sizzled with left over vegetable oil after begin fried. The white garlic sauce drizzled on top creating the perfect wafting smell. Setting the two plates in front of both Terra and Zane, the waitress smiled to them both, "Alright, hope y'all enjoy and let me know if y'all need anything," She said with cheer before walking away to leave the two to dine in.
The conversation interrupted upon the arrival of their food, Zane didn't have words to say around the woman since he took the conversation to be personal. Thanking her for the food again and waiting for her return for the other guests, he then locked his eyes to Terra, "Why?" He asked, his voice returning to the all too familiar stern tone.
After hearing Zane's surprisingly gentle response, she tilted her head. Hmm, I'm glad I chose not to ask further about it then. The only reason she would have was to check if Zane was alright, if he needed someone to discuss this 'illness' with. Terra was optimistic in her heart that Zane would come forth to her if he ever had something worth sharing. Pondering over what others were feeling or experiencing was a bane of Terra's. With permeable ego boundaries, her empathy can sometimes be too much, unneeded; especially since he knew little about non-humans. She had practiced restraint after beginning her internship at the station and begun to observe the moods of others before letting her heart speak.
When she finally mustered up the courage to inform Zane of her decision, his piercing gaze shattered her intentions. Maybe she should have said nothing and just gone without a word. Anything would have been better than seeing those terrific eyes of disapproval. It made Terra blush and look away. The walnut shrimp had come and although smelling delicious, she had lost some of her appetite. 'Why?' Terra repeated in her head. "W-well," she began, grabbing the silverware and stirring the shrimp. "Long story short, I have a feeling someone important to me is there. My mother, actually, who went missing over 10 years ago." Unsure whether Zane had known the history of her family misfortune, she figured she should surface the facts. "It was cited that maybe it was a demon, and I know the owner there is one." After hearing herself talk, she knew she sounded like an idiot. What would she do? Go knock on the demon's door and demand information? Ask him if he was the killer? If so, then what? Could she take revenge? No. She was a human, a pawn in the world of mythical creatures. Before she even finished, she figured Zane would already conclude it was a pitiful goose chase.
She took a bite, the shrimp nearly burning the roof of her mouth. It was actually delicious, and the pain was enjoyable at that moment.
