What a lovely village! His amber eyes drank in the sight before him, and his nose smelled the...well aroma around him. The Ranch had a very different feel than Star Grove, and he was quite intrigued by it.
His gaze moved to the pretty little thing running towards him, and a brilliant smile flashed upon his face to greet her warm welcome. "Hello! Thank you, it was quite the hike here!" The fae lightly chuckled as his gaze moved to the other female beside the excited nymph. "But with such a warm welcome, it was certainly worth it. I'm not a serious trader by any means, but I was hoping to get one of your famous alpaca blankets I've heard so much about. My brother has nothing but good things to say for the quality." As he drew in range of them, he offered his hand to shake to either lady. "My name is Tristen. My utmost pleasure to meet you."

Naturally first, the red headed woman shot her hand out to take the offered pink hand. If there was any stiffness in Tristen's shoulder Alma fixed that for him for free with her spirited handshake. "We have lots of blankets and dolls and need anything built?" Several trains of thought had an unfortunate mid track collision. Grammar was the unfortunate casualty of the tragedy. To the rescue, Zofie put her hand both on Alma's and their guest to calm the young adult. "We are always happy to trade. Would you like to come in and have a seat. You must be tired from your travels. Alma can pour you a drink while I find something to eat." Cue was taken and, in traditional fashion, run with. Near teleportation speed, Alma left just dust in her wake as she jolted off towards the main house to find everything liquid available. Just one chuckle of amusement followed before Zofie seriously looked back at her guest. Reaching her hand up to smooth back hairs pulled free from the wind, the angle tried again. "Alma means well, I hope her energy hasn't caused you harm?" Blue eyes gazed over the fae searching for signs he was injured or ready to bolt. He mentioned a brother but there wasn't another pae like him that she could place. Until now Stia was the only male fae she'd seen in ages and her mate would have told her he had a brother.
No matter. "I thank your brother for speaking highly of us, I'd be happy to show you what we have. Is there anything particular size or color wise you wanted?" Colors were more scarce without true dying facilities but a good trader tries her best.

Oof! What a hand shake! If only every pae had her gusto. "Dolls...I wonder if that would be a good thing..." He mused aloud. He didn't know if the baby would like a doll. "I think it would. Worst to worst I can always give it to Dame. They're always having kids." They just had quadruplets after all. FOUR babies. FOUR! And did she just say having built? "Are you a mind reader? Do...you do house calls? I actually need another bedroom built." Talk about good fortune! The name piqued his interest though as the Angel took over the conversation. "Alma? Are you the only Alma here? Dating Chal? I'd love a drink if that wouldn't be of trouble." Slightly rubbing his jostled shoulder, he followed the angel towards the beckoned seat. His feet were aching from the journey. "Ah yes, something smallish that can fit in a crib. We're expecting a baby. Color doesn't really matter...Though I've always been partial to red. And maybe a second as a backup, depending on the price. A doll. And if you're willing to do that room addition we can negotiate something on arrival for payment."

Zofie brought her hand up to her mouth to hide the smile Tristen brought. Talk of four children was enough to bring amazement but then he asked about building. He was lucky Alma was already off raiding her house of everything remotely liquid. Without knowing it he had made Alma's day and possibly week.
Once the amusement was under control she dropped her hand and continued to listen to her guest making notes of what he said. Allowing him to take a seat, and trying her hardest not to wince at the sounds coming from her cupboards. Something was broken, something was definitely broken.
Straitening her shoulders, Zofie started to address the topics mentioned on the walk to the house before Alma finished her task. Hopefully there would still be items left. "Alma absolutely makes house calls, she helped Star Grove recover when their waterwheel had an accident." No Pip to pop out and said it wasn't her fault? Well that was new. "She also built all the other homes besides this one. Kurt built this home when we founded the ranch." So many seasons had past since then, only she and her family even knew Kurt was a real pae once.
A builder he was not, but the differences between his work and the red-headed young nymph were charming. "I will warn, Alma doesn't do anything simply but with great enthusiasm." And creativity.
Oh? "Yes,Chal lives here too, has a knack with the alpaca. They have three children together." Well Pip came a little before together was the best word. "Chal?" Mention of her mate's name pulled the nymph finally out of forging. In her hands rested a large serving platter filled to the brim. Every space had a container of some sort with something in it. Almost everything was chilled due to the below ground cellar of sorts. Not icy but it would do. He had options. Regular water in an earthen baked mug was the most mundane. There was a watermelon holding its juices in a slush within. Next to it was a pineapple much the same way. Apple juice and mango juices both had their own cups, or vases hard to tell but really looked like vases. Coconut milk sat in its original container in a bowl next to a wider deeper bowl with alpaca milk in it. To top off the display, a signle mint lieaf in the only slightly open spot on the tray.
"Do you know Chal?" His name had come up, now her wide eyes blinked with curiosity.Well, that was some display, Zofie was afraid of what her kitchen would look like after the gathering offered. Shaking her head once she offered, "He does, I was just about to tell our guest about your family. Why don't you tell him while I gather a few things?" She'd be kept busy and their guest entertained.Clapping her hands together, Alma coudln't keep still. "My babies!" Her favorite topic hands down, "Our first is Pip, we found her at Star grove when I fixed the water wheel" Demonstration of how the wheel worked followed, left arm providing the full movement. "We had twins, my son Na'ker and daughter Osha. They are so adorable!" Gushing with material pride stilled her for the first moment since the behearted fae arrived. Much more efficient, Zofie returned with a smaller tray in one hand and a basket of items in the other. A selection of cheeses, sprouted grained bread and cut fruit arranged in a decorative, edible picture is placed next to Alma's generous offerings. The basket contained crib and toddler sized alpaca fiber blankets and little dolls made mainly of the same fibers. Papaya seeds died them as red as they could manage without a dyer on site. Hopefully it would do.
With great humor she added, "You have quite a few options to choose from." Between food, drink, goods and company he had his hands full.Tartara Seabreeze Can't let an rp go where Tris isn't haunted by Kurt

Out of respect, Tristen did not react to the loud clanking going on in the background. Wouldn't want to embarrass his lovely hosts. The fae graciously sat down as he allowed the pack to slide off his shoulder. "That is so much better." Wheel accident? He really needed to sit down and catch up with his brother. That was surely quite the story! "Really? I am envious of her craftmanship! The town looks -" Ah, that name. He winced slightly at both rememberamce of the past and the current future. "Wonderful. Its...its a shame about Kurt. That does remind me though, after our trading I wonder if you know where I can find a Zofie? Menolly insisted I meet her." Any sparkle that had been lost was regained at the talk of Chal. "Chals here too?! He'd be sorely disappointed if I didnt visit him too. And children too! Dyas must be through the roof. And I have to tell Raken if he doesnt already know! A great grandpa." At that moment, Alma stepped in with the biggest tray of drinks he'd ever seen. He quickly stood to offer his assistance. "Im thoroughly impressed and gracious at all the options, but you didnt need to go through such trouble! I dont even know what to pick." Tristen spoke as the tray was lowered down, golden eyes taking in all the cups. But he had been asked a question. He sat back down before turning to the nymph. "Since he was a baby." A boyish grin spread across his face. "I'm sorry, I just sort of assumed Dame would have talked about his own brother! Chal is my great nephew. Dameon is my younger brother." Obviously they would put together adopted considering Dame was a demon and he a fae. Tristen reached out for the pineapple as he listed to Alma list off his great great nieces and nephew. "What a fine family you have! And you are every bit as lovely as Dyas said you were." His attention turned to the new plate and basket. After a sip of pineapple, he reached into the basket to touch one of the soft blankets. "You are not joking. You ladies are quite efficient hosts and traders! I should have visited here seasons ago." He pulled his hand back to lean over his pack and open it. Time to show his quality of goods. "I was recommended to throw our next big family reunion here even." Tristen slowly pulled out first the skins, then the salted deer meat, then the milled flour last. evilsilverdragon kurt haunts even beyond the "grave" xD

Sadness for Kurt's absences gave way rapidly to embarrassment. Turns out the pink angle could turn a darker shade of pink as shame burned her face. How in the name of the Guardians had she forgotten to introduce herself?! Too distracted by Alma and her guest's comfort. At least Alma was returning the favor. Once the conversation calmed down she'd fix her rudeness.Over the moon and happily among the stars, Alma listened to every detail. If he was Chal's uncle then that made him her family too. Both of them had red hair, a fun detail in the mix. Dyas said she was lovely? Oh she could buzz off the ground with that alone. "We have room in our house if you need to stay a while. Dyas and Azure let us take rocks from the cave to help build the home!" Chal's parents are so awesome and that they were part of their home.
A family reunion?! Oh they needed more houses!
Zooming down, Alma grabbed her watermelon drink and plopped down next her new uncle, "I'll build lots of room!" Ten more houses should do it, or six stories up? Oh dear, those wheels were turning off the tracks. Sipping at her own mango juice, Zofie took the time to get back into the conversation. "I apologize for my rudeness before, I am Zofie. Along with my mate, 'Stia, we are the leaders of this little Ranch. Kurt built it but we keep it going in his memory. I've written to Menolly but haven't had a chance to meet her yet. She apparently can't come down here but I'll get up there some day. How is she?" It still didn't make any sense why she couldn't come to the land but it was rude to press. Maybe if Tristen saw her in person he might have more insight? The letters were wonderful, fawning over someone named Raken and more Guardians then a temple full of prayer.
"We welcome you and your family if ever you want to visit. My door is always open to anyone and everyone." More guest the better! Poor Kurt wouldn't recognize the Ranch now, its grown with love and become a real village of its own right.
Here she was leading it with her Mate's support, trading and making deals. That milled flour was a rare treat usually gathered from her trading partners in Star Grove. Having run out, it was particularly enticing. "We'll be able to make a great trade!" Well, the trade and then baby gifts as a thanks for coming. Rarely did a baby come alone, her daughter the only single birth she could ever recall and with quads in the family, he'd need all the extras he could bring back!

If Tristen noticed Zolfie's blush, he had the grace to not show it. He took another sip of his drink before chuckling at Alma's enthusiasm. Sort of reminded him of a young Dayht. It was very refreshing. "Thank you for the offer! I may take you up on that for the evening, but would have to leave in the morning. I've left a pregnant goddess behind, and I hate to leave her side for long." Whether they catch that he meant a literal goddess or if it was just an endearing term, he'd leave to them. Either were just as likely from him. "Did they now?" Don't smile, don't smile. Ah curse it, he couldn't stop the grin. How would Raken feel about rocks from his home being lifted without his knowledge? He only wanted to be there to see his face when he discovered it.
If he ever would, who knew when he'd be able to leave the City. "They are very kind pae. You joined into a very large family, but a very loving one!"
His attention turned back to the angel, surprise flashing past and stealing his grin, only to be replaced with a smile. "YOU are Zofie! Don't worry about it, you've had your hands full with me arriving. Menolly is..." Hmm. Time to show some tact. He didn't know how much his hosts would know of Raken or his connection to the bomb. He immediately trusted Alma as he trusted Chal to pick a good mate, but he knew nothing of Zofie aside from what Menolly had stated. And they had never even met in the flesh. "She's doing well! Really wants to come visit here when it's a good time. Did you know she's a pretty good cook?" He put a slice of cheese on a piece of bread and took a bite before turning back to the trade on hand. He might seem aloof, but he had caught the slight glimmer in Zofie's eyes when he brought out the flour. That would be his saving grace. But he'd have to still talk up his other wares, the flour probably would not be enough on its own. "This venison was acquired from a prime buck only a week ago, still very fresh. Pre-salted of course to keep for a while still. And these skins were expertly hunted, you won't find any holes in the hides." If shot by an arrow in the body it would create a large tear in the hide. Then in the removal process had to be careful to not carelessly cut. "I'm prepared to offer you this bag of flour, three skins, and this prime venison in exchange for..." He pulled out two of the darkest red blankets. "These blankets..." His hand lighted on the dolls. Carefully inspecting them, he pulled out three that seemed to be of good quality. "These dolls. And a week of construction work from Alma on our extra bedroom. I'm prepared to offer another bag of flour and another three skins upon the rooms completion." He was pretty inept when it came to trading. Wasn't even entirely sure if that was an equal trade, but it seemed fairly even to him. The blankets were of superior quality, but they were small. Maybe he should have tried to get a full sized blanket mixed in as well...but by the same token he was also bargaining labor for an at home job which was more.
Trading was hard.

Clapping twice with a huge grin, Alma declared, "You have babies on the way? Congratulations! Can't wait to meet them!" Babies were such treasures! She favored children with their energy and naughtiness. Rocking in place with excess energy, her huge grin welcomed his smile as a response to her own comments anything else flew easily over her head.
Ooo this juice was good!Politely listening to the two talk, making a note to throw in gifts for the pregnant mother and the new babies. Between Tristen and Alma's relationship, those kids were honorary members of the Ranch. His comment about Menolly made her chuckle and she offered, "That is survival, poor girl had at least one parent who wasn't that strong of a cook." Kurt was terrible at it, hunter special was the best he could do, poor man. "If I find a reason to go to the City for trading I'll have to drop by and visit her in person. I welcome you and your young family to visit, kids love the Alpaca." Thanks to her ranch hands there were some that could even tolerate Alma's exuberance so small children were nothing. That and Alma's mini-mes were running around happily.
Her eyes ghosted over everything offered, weighing what they needed, could use and had no direct use. Even if the items weren't needed, the could be retraded to other villages and travelers. Even so too much of anything just wasn't appealing.
Making a small 'hmm' sound in contemplation she finally said, "Fair trade, but the additional bag of flour would be just fine for the construction. Try to gather as much stone as you can if it isn't already available. It will make Alma's life easier." Building would keep Alma happy and busy for a while. Oh, wait. What? Suddenly very still, Alma placed her drink down and focused on Tristen. "I can make bricks out of stone. I'll have that done in no time! Tell me about the house, what construction style did you you? Themes? Materials? Ohh about the surroundings?" Thousands of designs flew through her head as she filtered though scenario after scenario building and deconstructing Zofie smiled as she watched, he had no idea what he was getting into.Tartara Seabreeze Our other rp Raken: no visits. One year later xd
Bic: Tristen nodded understandingly about cooking well despite Kurt. He'd never want to think ill of the dead, but that guy didn't seem to be the cooking type.
It took considerable self control to not show the leap of concern when she mentioned 'dropping by' Menollys place. Where Raken was. Oh dear. Maybe he should say something now after all.
No. No there was a chance she wouldn't visit. And even if she did, Raken could explain things better than he as to why the other shouldn't throw him to the Faun. So the fae smiled and nodded in agreement. "That sounds like a great deal of fun."
Fair deal! He did it! He was actually a little impressed with himself. "Can do. That is a remarkable skill Alma!" He complimented, beaming until the other began inquiring of his current...eh...build. Tristens smile turned slightly sidewise in embarrassment. "You could say...rustic? I'm a lover, not a builder to be honest. There's a few holes, made of the local trees and rocks. But the storms haven't knocked it down and it keeps us relatively warm and dry. We live in Loka Nei forest, about two days walk from Star Grove." Hence the ease of milled flour. That and he was related to the village owners.

Alma's expression went from something akin to horror into a rapid fire build of excitement. Suddenly, she clapped her hands together and buzzed off her seat. "What are we waiting for? I'll fix it up! As good as rusticalnew!" One could almost see her vibrating with excitement. This was a new style, to improve while keeping his starting block would be the best challenge.
Her head danced with every possibility. There was exactly five seconds between the moment and Tristen getting involuntarily carried away with her.Zofie calmly diverted her enthusiastic builder, " Alma, lets let our guest rest for the evening. I'll help pack up what you might need on your trip back when you are ready." Oh they were going to be in for an interesting week.

Such enthusiasm! Alma was certainly a wonderful girl for his dear great nephew. "Thank you Zolfie, I'm not as young and spry as I used to. My feet hurt from the travel, so I'd love a rest." He wanted to get home, but also didn't want to over exert himself either. He could just hear Harmonia and Adora chiding him if he came back with blisters. "If you could take me to the washing area, I'll find ya when I'm good to go again. I'll leave the agreed payment here, if you're alright with that."Evilsilverdragon Sounds good to me! Zofie stood up and gently told Alma, "Why don't you go tell Chal that Tristen is here? I am sure he'll be very happy to know his uncle is here." She had about 2/3rdsof the statement out before she was talking to an empty seat.
Chuckling to her self she waved to Tristen, "This way, we have a stone washroom and sun warmed water ready to go." Once he was settled she'd see to packing up everything they bartered for, and things he didn't ask for to help with the babies.
She snuck in a few fruit preserves and herded bread for the journey back. Everything else would be given in the morning under the excuse that they needed to feed Alma. Which while true, Alma did not eat enough for a small army.In the morning, the Ranch saw off their guest and resident builder for a new adventure. Tristen's homestead wouldn't know what hit it but with great joy it would see itself improved.
