A small nod was given Qing's way when he agreed to be palliated by Lunestra's Semblance. Any opportunity she could grasp to practice it was always welcome.
The arrival of Shui-Lin certainly prompted a few head turns -- one of them was Lunestra's of course. She wasn't too concerned whether or not others were tardy, such was none of her business. She was far more focused on whether or not this class would progress properly, with all that she expected. With her brother heralding it, she had no doubt -- however, it would have been beneficial to know the actual teacher's style of inculcation. Even so, Lunestra had always had the best -- this was just one of those situations.
Questions all around -- questions on the first day. This was common practice. Lunestra wasn't all too surprised of Ivory's question, nor was she taken aback by Aurtrox's answer. It made sense that full-fledged hunters had certain freedoms, but also certain restrictions. Hopefully she'll have a team that she can rely on in the future -- she wasn't interested in having others hold her back.
"I do have a question," She called out. "Will we be studying actual Grimm in the class?" No holds bared as per usual -- Lunestra was completely expectant of actual creatures of Grimm, in all their effluvium, being present physically for them to study legitimate Grimm behavior. Due to her sheltered life, she had never seen an actual Grimm. All she has read was testimonies and studies on Grimm, but seeing one -- and perhaps even fighting one -- would be a different echelon of learning.

Ivory listened to the head master. He was talking about the kingdoms, and not really what he wanted to talk about. However, he wanted to know about something like the mountains. His people didn't own any land, but they lived off of it. Having to deal with Grim, but then most of them would lose their lives doing so. Ivory wanted to prevent that. "I was asking more about outside of the kingdoms..." His ears would go flat against his head. He wasn't even sure his own people would take him back, never mind humans...

He smiled at Ivory's clarification. He had never been asked about roaming outside of the kingdoms. There was always a first in each year. He was happy to start off with one."Yes, you can travel anywhere outside of the kingdoms.Though will almost never be given an assignment to go there so this will have to be on your own time. There are some occasional scouting missions, but these are rarely outside of the kingdoms percieved realms. Dust corporations travel outside of the realms more often than anyone else if you were curious. They are always scouting out new mines and need quite a bit of protection. Though these jobs are tough to get because they pay very well and and thus highly desired." Aurtrox was happy to see his dear sister asking a question. The young heiress didn't expect any less from her brother. He was the kind of teacher that preferred hands-on methods as opposed to just reading from a text book and hoping his students would absorb from their readings. Instead, Lunestra was aware that Aurtrox preferred a more experimental approach to a lesson, and hoped that his students would learn from experience. Through many of their trainings so that Lunestra could build upon her technique, he was such that a teacher. Genuinely, Lunestra was thankful that her brother continued to follow the same pattern of teaching he always had.
The classroom was somewhat quiet for a while, and Aurtrox expounded upon Ivory's question with ease. Afterwards, he asked a question that Lunestra knew the answer to -- but she didn't answer. Instead, she allowed the rest of her classmates the opportunity to speak. It was a rather odd sensation -- within a classroom, despite being surrounded by others, she felt confident. There was no sliver of anxiety creeping up her skin and vessicating it; there was no sweat, no intrusive, wary thoughts, not cognitive dissonance, no ball in her throat. She felt at peace and in control -- she knew where she was and what she was capable of.
A classroom was her ideal battlefield.
However, she was not in battle, nor in competition with her peers. It was still the first day and she had yet to really know who they were. When she got down to it, she didn't doubt everyone elses' intelligence -- they had gotten into Beacon, after all, and took the same test as her. The test was stringent, and if they had passed it, then they must know what they're talking about. Therefore, she cast a small scan of a glance around the classroom, waiting for someone to answer her brother's question. Hopefully, they would get it right. She's learned to step down over time -- she has no business taking the limelight in class at all times. That wouldn't be any fun.

He pulled out a folder from behind the podium and began to pace around the room as he awaited a response to his question. Some students seemed to be somewhat nervous around him while others were perfectly comfortable. "This is not a trick question I assure you." He opened the folder and started to pass out papers to the class that held an array of information about Grimm. Mostly their anatomy. It held advanced details about their average sizes, reaction speeds, and more. Mostly anatomical fucntionality."This is a tiny handout full of condensed information about the most common types of Grimm. I expect you do have it memorized by the end of class today. Feel free to keep it in your belongings to refer to later as this handout will be handy for survival."He let that sink in as he returned to the stage. Each student would notice that the pages had cheese hearts scribbled on them. An occasional picture of a baby grimm could also be found on a few.

Ivory listened to the head master. He was kind of upset that he would not be able to help his people out as much as he wanted to. He looked kind of downtrodden. The one thing that he had tried to do was not going to help his people. His tail was going back and forth in irritation.
Then a question was asked. It was about why Grim couldn't be contained in an area. His tribe had tried to do that once, and it dissipated. He had an idea as to why it happened. He would wait to see if anyone else would answer the question first. He then heard silence. No one was going to answer it? He then got a piece of paper with all the grim on it. He knew of one of them, far to intimately. He had the scars to prove it. He would raise his hand. He didn't want to answer the question, but no one else was doing it. "Is it because since they can't get to humans they can't try to kill us, that they just...disappear...?" He sounded more unsure at the end. His tribe tried to keep away from Grimm as much as they could.
He'd merely watch for the first few minutes. It seemed that twoo of the students were chattier than the rest as Qing's mouth formed a frown. He'd finally get his hair back into the shape he liked and thus. His full attention was on the teacher. Though it made his stomach churn a bit thinking that the class would have a Grimm in it. Though as he thought about it, his head would shake the feeling soon. The Grimm would probably feed off of his uncomfortable disposition. Though as he thought, he would look to the new item in the middle of the room and lift his hand lightly. The scarred boy's mouth in a frown as his head tilted. "I think I know, Sir. Though, it seems the previous answer wasn't far off." He'd say with his calm facade. The young man's hands would rest on the desk afterwards as he tilted his head to the side a bit and closed his eyes. The paper before him would come later, when his nerves were calm. For now he had to focus on thinking positively and keeping his breaths light. "If they are in captivity for too long. They'll starve not from consumption of food, but negative emotions, unless they are feared within a public place. Though this seems to only be my speculation on the matter." He'd end his statement with.

There was a brief quietude until Ivory produced a feasible answer as to why Grimm don't last long in captivity. Although a half-truth, Lunestra had to agree -- even if just with herself --- that he wasn't wrong. Grimm fed in many different ways -- ways that humans or Faunus wouldn't be able to fully comprehend unless they were Grimm to some degree. Thinking of such made Lunestra's skin crawl and her hands to grow clammy. Becoming Grimm in any capacity. . . Only someone truly insane would volunteer to do such a thing.
She pushed such a harrowing thought out of her mindscape.
Another answer was soon given and Lunestra broke a slight smile at her seat-mate's answer. he was spot-on, and supplemented Ivory's answer well. "I can agree with both statements," She suddenly began. "Grimm don't eat. They don't even eat animals if they don't have to. They feast on negative emotions, especially in direct proximity. They have a penchant for fear the most. Without fearing Grimm, they soon weaken and weaken, and then basically ash. I suppose that would be one of the key ways to successfully defeat almost any Grimm --" She paused, looking around the room.
"Don't let them feel you at all."
As melodramatic as that was, she let that tidbit of information linger in the air. It was easier said than done -- Grimm were mavericks when it came to the laws of life, marauders of everything good and positive in the world, fueling themselves with effluvium at every chance they could get. But this was something Lunestra wished to instill in herself most of all, which is likely why she shared with her classmates in that moment as well.

Very good answers, but the truth is we don't exactly know why. In general, we theorize it has something to do with the fact that they cannot cause fear, yes, but we've tested this theory and there are many concerns as even when displayed in public or placed in prisons where fear is rampant, they seem to still die off in captivity. Ultimately most scientists believe it is the fact that they need to cause the fear, paired up with the freedom to kill, but as I said. Nobody really knows." One of the most important things a teacher could do in a class was expose the boundaries of current knowledge. This inspired students to seek knowledge beyond what was known, and to pay close attention to the details surrounding what society has yet to learn."But even the theory I brought forth has its issues as a subdued Beowolf will not disintegrate in the same time if its pack is nearby. Maybe because the pack can free it and it has a way to sense this? It is unknown."He then clicked a button which brought up a projection on the screen behind him. It showed a slideshow of pictures of Grimm in varying sizes."Another important thing to note for your first class in Grimm studies is that these creatures grow with age. Albeit at different rates and with different starting sizes, but they can grow to become quite large. Some scientists have produced evidence that they will continue to grow for as long as they live, and others have shown that the rate of growth does slow for some creatures faster than others, but none of that is really important. What is important is the fact that a larger Grimm is a more intelligent Grimm. Not just stronger and faster. They watch and learn how we fight and can learn to better fight us. Generally speaking, you will want to team up on larger Grimm after you have defeated the smaller ones. Of course what is best will always depend on the situation."Aurtrox yawned. He felt that he was speaking too much and it was time for them to see an actual creature of Grimm. He walked over to the wall and flipped a switch. lines formed on the wall and a portion of it slowly moved outward and up to reveal a dark square-shaped hole. No Grimm, no cage. Ivory listened to what everyone added onto his comment. He had thought he had gotten it wrong, however, it seemed that there was no right answer to the question. He had feared getting it wrong. He grabbed onto his tail, and started to mess with it. It was really his calming factor. The teacher was ready to show them an actual grim. He had experienced one before. He was not ready for this, his old wounds hurt from the thought.
His tail would poof up again, and his ears where flat against his head. He didn't know what else to do. He wasn't ready for this. He wished he had the grimm mask that he used for courage.

A slight yet imperceptible squint lined Lunestra's eyes when her brother further expounded on the 'true' answer as to why Grimm didn't survive long in captivity. Perhaps her education was preceding her in this case -- she wanted to pigeonhole the reason without being completely open to other possibilities. Naturally, all they could truly confirm was through observation. No hunter to this day, as far as she knows, has managed to hold a Grimm long enough to truly study it and all its components.
Most of it is quite a lot of guesswork.
Even so, she didn't let being wrong get to her entirely. She remained still and continued to listen to the lecture her brother gave to the class, and despite her closed composure, she was glad to be learning more. Lunestra certainly detested being wrong, but sometimes being wrong was part of the learning experience. She needed to work on this, and she didn't try to refute her brother's words on the matter. Although, that too could be for a healthy learning experience, as well. . .
But right now was not the time -- it's only the first day after all.
Now was the time, however, for a demonstration -- and although Lunestra anticipated it, she didn't like it. The bellow of a unregistered Grimm filled the room, which was certain to cause everyone within some level of anxiety, if any at all. Lunestra certainly felt it. Her throat ran somewhat dry and her wing's feathers ruffled slightly, but she tried to remain placated anyway. Her gaze traveled to where the unrestricted Grimm was approaching from, and although she knew she was perfectly safe within the class, she couldn't help the trepidation slowly filling her.
This was the first time she has seen a Grimm, after all.

He then produced a tiny black contoller from his robes with a very large red button. He flipped a glass protector and then pressed it."If you don't yet have any clue how to fight. You are dismissed."This last part would likely confuse them all which made it all the better. An ear splitting roar exploded from the darkness and an Ursa bashed the topmost portion of the wall to tiny splinters. Wood chunks and Spackle flecks flew across the room with intensity. An Ursa, with chained limbs, exited the now large hole in the wall. The chains connected each limb, limiting its movement to some degree, and its claws were cut off leaving only blunt force as an option for the Grimm. The mouth had a large metal contraption to keep it from biting as well. That said, it was a full size Ursa."Good luck students!"Aurtrox said as he took a seat on the window sill. A plate with a teapot sat beside him as if he had planned a little snack to eat with his show."Remember the Grimm are attracted most to fear!"He shouted this as the Ursa's eyes locked onto Ivory. The Ursa launched itself at him with spittle flying out from the edges of its locked jaw.

Ivory watched as the Ursa came towards him. His eyes widened. He did not have his weapon, or his mask with him. He pulled out his scroll, and called for the rocket propelled locker to his location. He had not been expecting Combat at all. He then jumped from his seat, going backwards. There wasn't much that he could do until the locker found him. It was coming after him as he jumped around. The Ursa's claws at one point caught the top of his shirt, the aura wasn't able to protect it. It would show the large claw scars on his body. He would have to keep dodging. Then, his saving grace happened. The locker burst into the area, carrying his weapon and his Ursa mask. He didn't fight without it. He quickly donned on the mask, as the Ursa was charging at him. He quickly pulled out his sword from it's sheath, and would hold himself against the Ursa, hoping that someone would take the advantage of him keeping it in one spot.

Of course.
Her brother's words were calculated and cruel, but she understood their necessity. The world they lived in, at the moment, was less than ideal. Privilege was tilted, kingdoms had fallen, and Grimm roved through the lands unchecked. So much was happening, and these potential hunters needed to learn quickly if they wished to quell the traumatic army of Grimm. She remained in her seat despite the continued bellows of the Grimm. . .
And then it burst forth.
It didn't target her, but her eyes were still aghast at the beast's sudden surfacing -- its howls and snarls filled the room and Lunestra felt her heart skip a beat. Even so, it didn't target her, but her fellow Faunus class mate. . . What was his name again. . . Ivory? Furrowing her brow, she watched as Ivory fumbled around the classroom as he opened his scroll to do what she perhaps assumed he did, but she wasn't entirely sure. Evasive maneuvers were employed, and the Ursa seemed to almost have it. . . Until a rocket locker descended harshly into the classroom, and Ivory was now face-to-face with the Ursa, holding it down.
A burst of energy flowed through Lunestra and she ascended, the ruffle of her feathers emitting through the classroom and feathers falling below. From her thighs she withdrew her weapons -- Glyphon -- and manifested their swords form. Gaining momentum by quickly turning in the air for a few seconds, she rushed towards the beast while it was preoccupied with Ivory. . . .
And went to lunge one of her fan-swords straight into its back, and quickly attempted to retreat. A prime example of using her environment -- the spacious classroom, coupled with her wings to gain the necessary momentum for a dashing onslaught.
Ivory was fighting to keep it's claws from scratching him. He already knew what that felt like. He wasn't physically strong, however, he was able to keep his balance against the Ursa's powerful swings. He wasn't using much speed at this point, he noticed that one of his classmates had come to help him, and that gave him a huge sigh of relief. He wasn't in this alone. He didn't know what to do, other than to keep the Ursa focused on him. He maybe got a swing in that wasn't in defense of the creature. He knew that if things got bad, then he at least had his semblance to fall back on.
