"Ah!"
The sound was a mix between pained and the kind associated with realization, as his blade stabbed right into her shoulder--thankfully not on her weapon-wielding side--when she remembered who that was. She stumbled back while again flailing her sword; she really needed to learn some defense techniques that didn't involve flailing...
"I do know her! Met her once, at the gym. Seemed pretty cool. You guys are related, huh? So this Hunter skill of seeing shadows really is familial...that's pretty neat."

He felt the small hit, but it came through harder then similar hits from before. He thought that might be because, according to Fiac, the shield only had a little to go before it broke. In the meantime, though, Dai was not going to give up, especially not with his sister watching. "I mean, I'm biased, but I definitely think she's pretty cool..." He began another swing, a chopping hit from the left side. "And yeah, it's definitely familial." He had a slightly dark tone to that. "But at least I got to see my sister again."

She might have commented if his hit didn't knock her off her feet again, though this time it was because she stumbled back and fell on her rump. The sand, thankfully, took some of the impact away and she was left with a searing pain in her other side.
"Nice hit," she winced, shakily getting to her feet as she dashed in for another hopeful hit. The fight felt like it was just about over, but that didn't mean she would stop trying. At the last, she had a pretty nice conversation throughout, unlike the last one with the spoil sport. What was his name?
"And no worries, even if it is a little bias. She's your sister, I get it. Mine..." she snorted. As much as she missed them, she couldn't speak very highly. "Not so great, but I guess they have some good to them. I just...have to think really hard.

He also winced, feeling the hit, and feeling winded. "So's yours..." He said and moved slowly, shaking his legs and arms, trying to make them feel a little looser. He wondered which of them was going to make it, this time. "Family bias can be normal... so can the opposite, I suppose. Still, for your sake, hope none of yours comes here... I know it really upset Seren when I woke..." He did not go into more detail on that, Gabby didn't need to know. He swung, and missed, possibly due to being a little distracted.

His words about her sisters coming here froze her in her spot, momentarily making her forget that she was exhausted and in the middle of a fight. Their potential recruitment had never even crossed her mind as a possibility, and she got lost in that thought until he swung, and missed, and she started at the little whisp of wind that came from the swing. "Whoa!" she jumped back on instinct, finally refocusing before moving in for a hit when she thought she saw an opening.
"I doubt it," she said mid-swing, though now she was outright frowning. "I can't tell you why, exactly, but I don't think they would recruit any of those lazy bums."

For the first time, Dai felt his shield crack. It was a very strange feeling, and he heard it too. The sound, the feeling, it had him freezing for a long moment, as the glaive vanished from his hands. There was a moment where he could only think 'holy s**t what if the wards fail?' and then, of course, they didn't. He just fell back, on his a**, into the sand, exhausted and accepting that he was DONE. "Ah! Well... I hope you're right. Also, congratulations." He gave her a weak, tired grin.

Gabby dismissed Sen and fell back too, exhausted from the fight and altogether just glad that it was over.
"I hope I'm right, too. And thanks," she managed while working to catch her breath. "You're pretty good with that glaive already. You been here long or...?"
She hadn't seen him since she woke up, which was, to be fair, only a few months ago so it wasn't like she'd been around for years. More than that, for the few months that she'd been around she's only met a handful of other hunters, and the ones she's actually had a real conversation with? She could count them on one hand.

"Me? No, I woke up in late November... I've gotten lucky to even get this far in the tournament." He flushed, and added "I signed up to get practice, because honestly, this was the first time I've ever used it... This tourney, I mean." He sighed and stared up at the blue sky above, watching clouds chase each other. "Went in the pod about July-ish, woke up November... Probably should have started battling sooner but... I was busy getting used to life, and the fact that my sister was not dead."
