Seren oof'd at the next hit from the staff, but was grinning now. She probably had lost this battle... She was far lower on shield then she would like, after her utter failure at the beginning... But at least she could still try and show off her skills SOME. She took a quick breath, taking stock of herself. She then darted to the side, swinging her sword at Gretchen's upper body, eyes focused. The one thing she was not going to do was try to take a swing at Gretchen's lower body. She refused to do anything that MIGHT be taking advantage of her battle partner's potential weakness. That would be unfair, in Seren's mind, and cruel.

Seren had definitely seemed to hit her stride. It was a little late, but that didn't mean there wasn't a chance for her to turn the fight around, especially if she kept hitting like that. Gretchen felt the sting of it across her chest, biting into her shield before she could jerk away from it. Turning, she brought her staff around to knock it against the colorful blade of Seren's weapon, deflecting it away, and making herself a small opening to exploit with a small whack against the other girl's side. HP: 27 DMG: 4

Seren made a slight hiss at the new hit and moved in towards the other woman after the strike. She slid back, considering the battle, and how they stood. For a moment, she just stood there, then darted to one side. After, she swung her sword to the side and up, towards the woman's arm.

Another fierce hit, and Gretchen stumbled, balance thrown by the fore of the sword hitting her arm. She had to fumble to keep her feet under her, and the retaliatory swing she managed to connect with wasn't nearly as solid as she'd have liked it to be. HP: 17 DMG: 3

Seren took the next blow without too much trouble, and moved, but found herself at an unexpectedly crappy angle. She swore, softly, under her breath, and swung her sword, not willing to lose her initiative, even if the swipe barely brushed against her battle partner.

Gretchen had been waiting for another jarring slash, but the blades only grazed her this time. Blinking, she wasted only half a second before taking advantage of that and darting in to jam the base of her staff into the other girl's stomach. HP: 15 DMG: 5
