"Umm." He looked between his sister's sweet face and the alk, who was struggling to comprehend it all. She seemed to be at a loss as to what to do with her friend. Eurig had seen similar looks on animals right before they ran away, so he supposed at least she was being a better friend by sticking around.
He bent at the knee and dropped his rocks, brushing his hands off on his knees before standing up fully. "You didn't have to do that. Just because they said bad things about me. They could've hurt you; there was more of 'em, it could'a happened."
If they'd been better fighters, or maybe if there had been more of them then something bad could have happened to his sister. The whole thing would have been his fault, since she could have walked away without a problem if he hadn't been there.
