"Too nice...?"

Before Julian could press further, the food had arrived and Mercy made him an offer - wash the unicorn, and then bestow it a name. The young man seemed overjoyed by this idea, and quickly forgot to ask Mercy for clarification. There was Chinese food to eat and a relationship to build.

Julian toddled to the kitchen to try and find silverware with which to eat, and plates upon which to put the food. Politely did he rifle through cupboards and drawers to find all the necessary ingredients and rushed to set the table, just as he would at Delilah's condo. A bit sloppy, but thankfully he didn't rush so much that he dropped a plate. Plates exploded on hard surfaces, he distinctly remembered.

They ate and talked about mundane subjects, now that the heavier, meatier things were dealt with. Mercy allowed him to go back outside to retrieve the unicorn for a desperately-needed bath in the sink. Surface wash only stated the tag, but some gently scrubbing from a moist sponge and some hair conditioner for the glorious mane was just what the doctor order. The care with which Julian handled the unicorn made it appear as though it were an infinitely precious thing, and it was - Julian hummed while caring for it. It might have been simply an unloved toy, but Julian remembered Mercy adored unicorns. It would mean a great deal to her to have this one restored and placed among her curated collection.

During its bath, Julian had decided upon a name, and toweled the precious thing as dry as he could. Soon, Princess Stardust as she came to be known, would be joining the rest of the Haynes Herd.
