"You think they haven't heard from me enough that I've got a basic order on file?" He grinned before leaning over to get his phone off the end table. "Tapas, wine, and dessert?" He didn't really give Halston time to answer before dialing and letting the phone ring. The restaurant picked up fast and once he gave over his name they were happy to help. He asked that they send over a small version of a party variety of tapas, enough for two, a bottle of wine to go with and the dessert that Halston liked.

"We do tend to order from them a good bit, don't we?" He snorted softly, shaking his head as he settled back against the pillows, remote in hand. He pulled up Courtland's Netflix account, scrolling through until he found the documentary series they'd started during the last time he'd had control over the remote. It was interesting enough to make decent background noise, but just enough on the edge of 'boring' that neither of them missed anything if they continued talking through it. "At least if the city is going to s**t we know we can still get good food."

"It's easy to do and the food is delicious." He dropped his phone back onto the sofa since he'd need to hear it when the gate buzzed. "And while I can cook I like not having to when I'm already two glasses in to a bottle of wine." Drinking while cooking never went well and that wasn't something he was going to try. Easier to have food ordered. The comment about the city going to s**t got a snort out of him and he rolled his eyes. "Going to hell in a hand basket but at least the snacks are great. Could be worse though."

"Where on earth is your sense of adventure, Court?" He couldn't help but laugh as he looked up to the other, draping an arm over the back of the sofa as he did so. He'd done a drunken cooking night once and it hadn't been awful. Of course, he wasn't really sure if it could be considered a 'drunken cooking night' if he was just throwing things together instead of following a precise recipe, but.... "They should really see about putting that on the sign everyone sees driving into town. I could probably suggest a few other things after the way this past week has gone, but that's somewhere to start."

"You'd think with how often we're in the news no one would be driving in anyway. The amount of people that still move here baffles me." Court settled back down against the chaise. "I think the fact that I still live here is enough adventure. All the s**t that goes on?" Getting kidnapped and ... whatever the ******** had happened to him was also enough adventure. He had a feeling with the two freaks that had taken him were just going to make it worse just given the way they'd been talking.

"Every single one of us should be on our way out... And here you are convincing Shea to move across the ocean to live here. You've told him that he can't drink anymore once he gets here, right?" The law was the law and he was certain their friend wasn't going to be too keen on the idea. It would be entertaining enough to give him s**t about it, though. "Do... Do you ever wonder whether or not you know anyone that might be part of one of those crazy a** organizations that we keep hearing about on the news?"

"That's because my baby needs to be somewhere with people who appreciate him more. Plus he'll get so much more attention and be able to go to more events if he's here. It'll be better to be in the US." Even if it was getting more and more dangerous to live in Destiny City by the day. The other question got a raised brow. Courtland managed to keep his mask up so that nothing else that flashed through his mind showed up on his face. ".... all the time. They have to be hiding somewhere and with how many of them there seem to be?" Plus knowing he was one of them. It meant that all the others had to be normal people too.

"Yeah... I'm starting to think that too." He took another deep gulp of his wine before falling quiet, finally hitting 'play' on the documentary. Things were supposed to be easier to talk about over drinks, not harder, and yet... "Being around the two of you is going to make me feel old. Older." He snorted, shaking his head slowly. "No wonder why everyone is always asking me what I'm doing with my life."

"You're not that old." Courtland rolled his eyes slightly. "And it's not ... actually it is totally my fault i'm a whore for anti-aging. I want to look like this forever thank you. ******** wrinkles." Sure a lot of people considered it bullshit and an overpriced hoby but he loved it. face masks and treatments and everything were fun along with being good for his skin. "what's got you talking about the freaks all of a sudden? You usually ignore their existence."

"I'm as close to being your age as I am to being thirty, never mind how much older than Shea I am." Given the way his mother and father had aged, Halston wasn't too worried about growing older. His face would likely stay the same, and it wasn't as though he didn't already dye his hair as far as the potential of greys or whites went. He would age well, like a scotch or a fine wine. He would also ignore the question about the 'freaks' for the time being, preferring to take another sip of his wine instead. "How much money have you put into all of those creams and masks, exactly?"

Courtland took a sip of his wine before tipping the glass toward his friend a bit. "You're ignoring my questions again and it's mean." The question about masks though caused his nose to scrunch slightly. "More than you want to know but I write a bunch of them off on taxes too because I do review videos on my channel" That was the good thing about being a 'beauty guru'. It meant he could write off most of his purchases for work and tons of businesses sent him samples or early release PR packages so he didn't have to buy products.

He sighed, wishing that Court hadn't called him on ignoring his question. It would be so much easier to just not talk about everything that had happened since the last time they both actually sat down to talk. How did you even start to bring up s**t like that? So you know that mugging I mentioned? It was actually a girl that kicked my a**-- scary ******** with a wild grin. Just when I thought I was about to get away she appeared out of nowhere, slugged me and when I woke up.... It sounded insane. He wouldn't believe it if it was a story someone was telling him... Would he? "I didn't tell the cops about the mugging because it was a chick. DCPD would have laughed me right out of the station."

"You got mugged by a girl, and didn't tell the DCPD because you wanted to, what, protect your pride?" Courtland sat up so he could get another cracker and so he could glare incredulously at his friend. At least been kidnapped by someone who could actually hold him down. Not only was the a*****e giant he was a lot stronger than he looked. "Also, what does that have to do with the weirdos?"

"I didn't tell DCPD because there's nothing they would have been able to do about it. Them laughing me out of the ******** station would've been just the tip of it. You've seen the articles and blog reports going around online, I'm sure. No one who reports one of those odd occurrences ever gets any sort of resolution. It's not like she stole anything either." He caught one brief glimpse at the way his friend was looking at him and returned his attention to the television, drawing another swig of wine out of his glass. "Just... Watch out for them, I guess... Okay? If you see a crazy b***h with wild eyes, a wicked grin and pink hair-- get the ******** out of there."

Crazy b***h with wild eyes, a wicked grin and pink hair/Halston's description of the girl who'd mugged him and the hint that it was one of the freaks that did it caught his attention. Could it... "Did she have claws? And a pink frilled coat?" It couldn't be the same woman, there wasn't a way, but he couldn't ignore that description. If someone had asked him what Tourmaline looked like he'd have said almost exactly the same.
