"Sure, might as well give it a go." Fred said keenly "I'll never figure out how to actually hit anyone without practice." And if there was something Fred wasn't afraid of it was trying and failing as many times as it took to get better. It was how he'd learned to tailor, trial and constant constant error, taking critisicm in his stride the way he took most things in his stride.
Another swing but this one went wide, misjudging the balance of his long and complicated weapon.
"Sorry mate." he said. "Getting the hang of this s**t is hard, I really need to find a stance that ******** works."

"It happens." Jordan nodded and stayed where he was, a solid target to strike at. "You'll get the hang of it with some practice." They still missed from time to time, accident or miscalculation or environmental hazard tripping them up; he certainly wasn't about to judge someone with far less experience for that. And to prove his point he didn't give up, swinging the blade again as best he could.
This time it struck and his weapon lit up with blazing white runes. "Yesssss." he hissed. "Time to ******** hurt myself again."

Metal slid against metal, and as Myxie's runes lit white, Ferros's runes also came to life, glowing bright red with a charge. Jordan grinned, genuinely pleased and looking forward to what came next. "Let's see what you've got," he said. "We've got a healing charge if either you or I needs it after this." He took a firm stance, readying himself, even though he had no idea what form the other man's charge would take. HP: 58/60 Defending for: 2 Charge: 3/3

Fred never had any idea what his charge was going to do. It was a strange one, a pent up sensation buzzing in his mind like a swarm of wild bees all competing to reach the same point. It was like static in a way, a sensation of hissing motivation which he had to give in to lest it overwhelm him.
Holding his sword up he placed one palm flat to the blade while holding the handle tight in the other.
There was a gathering of energy, the runes flicked out and a large flexing swarm of blackness spawned forth from it, hazy and strange, moving towards Jordan.
Once again it dissipated before it reached him and the runes across Fred's weapon sputtered and almost went out, the energy drain of the attack forcing him to his ********." he said. "I think its broken. It feels...it feels ******** weird."

Jordan braced himself for whatever the cloud was going to do to him, wondering whether it would sting or burn or chill. But the cloud thinned and vanished before it reached him, and he watched as Fred's weapon went nearly dark and the other man went to his knees as though something vital had been pulled out of him.
"I've never seen anything quite like it," he said, instead of I think you need a little more practice aiming, and held Ferros horizontally between his hands, in silent agreement that a heal would be good right about now. "Hold still," he added, "this won't hurt."
A cloud of warm steam hissed forth from Ferros's vents, gathered, and swirled to wrap around Fred, restoring much of what had been taken out of him by the misaligned attack.
