God, I just kept thinking about it, all of the ******** time. Any time I did anything nice I'd just think somewhere Jordan isn't having fun or doing this thing. It was a hole I was always ******** aware of." And the weight off his shoulders was incredible at the thought that wouldn't be the case.
"Tracey's ******** over the moon." he said. "I think he even cracked a ******** smile, that dour ******** never smiles."

It felt good to be able to touch Jordan, to be able to reach out without concern that he'd be pushing things too far or hurting him with the restraint he'd need to show to keep everything stable.
He lifted Jordan's hand to his lips and kissed the back of his hand indulgently because he could. "I'm ******** happy too." he said.
"And full disclosure like, if you are getting tested and s**t. I might be like....carrying around Excalibur in me? Or some really ******** whack s**t like that, I'm no sure. Just letting you know, in case."

There was a little edge of guilt at that thought, at his own past assumption that Rep wasn't thinking of him, at the knowledge that he'd been wavering on the edge of a breaking point, hurting too long to bear it. But it hadn't come out the way he'd half expected and feared. It hadn't come to that. They were here now, ready to rebuild instead of shattering the last of what remained. Jordan closed his eyes briefly at the touch on his hand, smiling a small and sweet smile. "So am I," he said. "Been a while since I felt really good."
He opened his eyes again and angled an eyebrow at Rep. "******** Legacies," he said, but the statement didn't carry any real anger. He was too full of other emotions to be upset, particularly since Excalibur had been mostly benign in its influence so far. "My mark's not gone. Don't know what it would take."

"You'll probably be fine." he said. "Creation is on better terms with us than I thought these days and honestly I'm ******** glad. It was...hard to come back and be without the kids. Harder than I thought. So your mark is more an asset now I guess, probably fine, might even protect you. Mask protects us all sometimes, or at least Creation does." he nodded. It was another thing he wasn't stressed about with Jordan as much as he had been.
He smirked a little broader.
"Get over this bar." he said. "Because I want a ******** hug while its empty in here."

Jordan nodded. "I didn't expect it to hit me as hard as it did. The year on the island helped ease that some. But yeah. I want to meet him, when it's a good time." The mark didn't worry him nearly as much as it once had.
He slid out of his chair and rounded the end of the bar without having to be asked twice, reaching out to catch Rep into a tight hug. He could do this now. Until he had the test results returned clean, kisses would have to wait, but he didn't have to keep such careful boundaries. "Sorry I held back so much before," he said quietly.

Rep gave Jordan a very tight hug and took a deep breath of his scent, the clean neat smell of the other man agonisingly familiar and strumming old longings in him, emotions coming back just from the memory the way an old song might stir something to mind from a time long past.
"I'm sorry you waited so ******** long." he said. "But its ******** over."
And it felt like he too had reached some long sought oasis to drink.

"It's okay. We're okay." Jordan leaned into the hug, breathing Rep in and closing his eyes again, feeling out the edges of a contentment that he'd thought lost, possibly forever. The magnetic pull that had first drawn him to the other man was as strong as it had ever been, an enduring constant that brought him back even after the misunderstandings and fights and the differences that sometimes put them at odds. There was a strange peace in it, and he'd missed that feeling.
"I missed you," he said again, low.
